CXMB v2.1 - Image 1Homebrew developer and QJ.NET reader Archaemic dropped by our PSP Development Forum and informed us that poisonhzkj has just updated his pet project Custom XMB plugin or CXMB. It is currently on version 2.1 and several things have changed since the last build was released back in June.

To those of you not so familiar with this program, it is actually a plugin for custom firmwares that makes it easier for PlayStation Portable owners to customize their XMB. This program is kind of different from all other similar applications because it doesn't make changes to the PSP's flash0.

Instead, what CXMB does is redirect the resource path file to ms0: by hooking some functions and doing a memory patch. Anyway, the following improvements have been included to CXMB v2.1:
  • New method implemented
  • Added prx support (effect all prxs except those in pspbtcnf.txt)
  • Don't need to place the unused pgf font files in memstick anymore, u could simply place the files u need, for example: ltn0.pgf
  • Fixed the .pmf problem
Unfortunately, the download package below still doesn't come with a Readme file so for further information, you can refer to the forum link below. Even though the program doesn't involve any flashing to your PSP units, please be careful when using it to avoid any problems.

hmm

It's too bad that this doesn't work with Applecor otherwise I would totaly use this as it's a lot faster to quickly switchXMB's without flashing each time.

works with most prx's

Just not paf.prx, common_gui.prx & vshmain.prx, though this does mean s the likes of dna & applecor won't work.

how to install?

I tried installing it like cxmb 2.0, putting the theme files in X:/TM/VSH/resource and putting the font files in TM/font. but the theme doesn't change.

CS for the PSP

I just created a petition to get Valve Software to create a Counter-Strike game for the PSP. http://www.petitiononline.com/06031976/petition.html

Hm.

I don't have a problem with flashing. As long as you have a back up of your flash files what's the deal? I've bricked my psp dozens of time and unbricked it easily by replacing my flash files. I would rather use my flash space than my memory stick space for custom xmb's.

I get it now

make a folder called cxmb. put the prx in that folder. in the cxmb folder, make a folder called font. there you put ur font files. in the cxmb folder also make a folder called vsh, in the vsh folder you make a folder called resource. in the resource folder you put the rest of the theme files. in your seplugins folder, add this line to VSH.txt ms0:/cxmb/cxmb.prx go into recovery and enable
