Flashing the PSP should be done with caution - you'll never know how your PSP is gonna react. But if you've taken the courage to go ahead and install a flashing app, sometimes eventhough you were lucky to not have bricked your PSP, you realize you're not really that relieved because you don't really need or want the application.Before you go and run a recovery.elf file on your PSP, you might want to try out this application by jasonuk. According to his Custom Firmware Recovery.ELF Tester's README file, "This app allows you to test a recovery.elf before you go ahead and flash it to your PSP. It executes recovery.elf on the root of your MemoryStick."
V0.1 for fw 1.5 of this Custom Firmware Recovery.ELF Tester is now available for download. Let jasonuk know what you think about the app through the comments section.

It doesn't customise. It launches the recovery file from the memory stick, so that you can see it is safe to flash to flash0. This way, if you need to enter recovery mode, you do not need to worry if the file is a dud. Great work, I downloaded it before it appeared on the homepage lol, it was on dl.qj.net 15 minutes ago.
can some1 please explain clearly what does the dark_alex proof of concept custom psp firmware do to our psp and how to use it and back to our original firmware?

This just tests the funcionality of the recovery.elf file we are using in our custom firmwares recovery mode right? But shouldnt that one work already?

Just an addition for those of you who are too mentally challenged to understand a simple concept... TESTER does not mean FLASHER Don't expect this to actually flash the file. It just allows you to TEST ms0:/recovery.elf before you go ahead and flash it.
My god, I'm so sick of idiotic kids boasting about first post... how lame can you be? You actually create a post just to ask what it is? Read, SPORT... it's not hard to understand.
This is a good application for people who are cautious about flashing their PSPs... ...For me, I really don't care about flashing it...
I had a tough time deciding between with custom firmware mod to use fist because of the features in the recovery.elf. Hopefully, this will come in handy when more custom firmwares come out. Great work!

HAHAHA this is so stupid... i thougt that this will help me recover a bricked psp if already in mem stick... you had me fooled there!!! i bricked my psp real bad becouse of you sick people!!!!
