Custom Firmware Extender was created by Cpasjuste - Image 1Custom Firmware Extender is an excellent homebrew application from coder Cpasjuste. However, there's a little problem: DAX already came up with 3.30 Open Edition Revision A. So what happens now? Well, no worries really because the coder just upgraded Custom Firmware Extender to v1.3 to accommodate users of the latest custom firmware.

As the name of the application suggests, this is actually a set of two plugins for Dark_AleX's custom firmwares that will add a couple of extra functions to your PlayStation Portable (PSP). So that you will have a better grasp of this application, Cpasjuste provided the things you can do with Custom Firmware Extender v1.3:
  • Start and stop a ftpd server while under the VSH (PSP Menu) to transfer files via WIFI (WEP,WPA).
  • Reset the PSP with a button while under the VSH (PSP Menu) or in-game (UMD/ISO).
  • Power off the PSP with a button while under the VSH (PSP Menu) or in-game (UMD/ISO).
  • Change the speed of the PSP CPU/FSB while under the VSH (PSP Menu) or in-game (UMD/ISO).
  • Start and stop Usb Mass Storage under the VSH (PSP Menu) while browsing.
  • Take a screenshot while under the VSH (PSP Menu) or in-game (UMD/ISO) saved in the PHOTO folder.
  • Set a default CPU/BUS speed at startup.
  • Set Usb Mass Storage at startup.
  • Configure your buttons mapping (combo button + your selected button).
  • Enable brightness button to go to the max level.
Pretty nifty, eh? Actually, yes, especially when you've read about the difference between the last version and this one:
  • Fixed to work on Dark Alex 3.30OE Firmware.
  • Capture folder is now set to "ms0:/PICTURE" create it if it dont exist.
  • Removed 4th brightness hack since it's now built in DA 3.30OE firmware.
The installation procedure as well as other important information can be found in the application's Readme file. Don't forget to browse through that first before using this.

I love this app. Been using it since the first release.

Haven't moved on to 3.30OE yet, but I'm glad that this is now available for it.

Also, QJ is erroneously stating that this writes to flash, when it actually doesn't.

Enabling/disabling plugins in the recovery menu writes to flash, but this program itself does not!

» Snarg you are mad dumb

Thats like saying "XMB Icons don't write to flash" because they don't write to flash until you put them in yourself. *****in retard.

by PSProdigy - 2007-04-20 10:58
» Basically

So this is basically just a bunch of compiled VSH's?

Did you even read what you wrote?

Of course XMB icons don't write to flash.

Why would they?

They are a part of a seperate file, which you make, and then write to flash. You never actually put XMB icons in flash. You are obviously clueless about the entire process, and the inner workings of the PSP.

So you would be retarted to say that XMB icons write to flash. But then, you've pretty much proven that a mentally challenged person would beat you in a battle of wits. So calling you a retard would be insulting to those courageous individuals.

And if I'm so wrong, then why was the erroneous warning removed from the article???

You're just some dumb troll, who thinks he's about 1000x smarter than he really is.

I don't know how you could not figure this program out.

But anyways, thought I would report that this does indeed still work in 3.40 OE-A

But I'll be nice.

Open up cfe_cfg.txt

And you'll notice that there's a list of button codes.

Match them to the settings below that.

comboButton is the button you press and hold

and the other buttons are what you press while holding the combo button, to get the specific function to work.

Again match them to the codes in the beginning of the txt file. And of course change them to whatever you want.

Also note that it takes up to 5 seconds after the xmb loads (whether it be during start up, or after exiting a game) before the functions will work.
