Version.txt

Enable m33 update on your recovery menu. Then try again. If this doesn't work enable use version.txt in your recovery menu and swap out your version.txt in your flash0 with the the one from 5.51. This should work. When you apply using version.txt disable m33 update. Here is a tutorial to enable and apply the new version.txt: http://www.consolespot.net/forums/psp-help-tutorials/24118-tutorial-how-bypass-fw-check-via-psn-store-psp-games.html

yep, me too

Yesterday, I downloaded themes, today, asks for an update. I noticed around 3PM, there was some lag and some intermittent time outs, so I bet they were fixing the check.

why not use gen-a

I am using 5.50 GEN-A build 4 and am having no problems, including using the psn store. must just be a m33 problem.

To M33 guys with version problems

I thought working around the Sony system requirements was the whole point of the PSP Update Trick Homebrew? http://pspupdates.qj.net/PSP-homebrew-Update-Trick-v2-5/pg/49/aid/132175

Didn't even see this.

But it doesn't matter. Gen-A is my new firmware.

WOW!

It 1st July already...so has it released? I want it..Im sick and regret for upgrading to U3R FW. It sucks alot! 5.50 FW Rocks! Too bad this wasn't made from M33. If this 5.50 is M33, I would rather think everybody respect him because he has the most stable custom firmware ever known. GEN FW is OKAY for me. Quite good. Rating I would give, 5/10. =)

No

First of all, if DA DOES make a new firmware, I doubt it'll be another 5.00 fix, after all, 5.00-6 is a really stable CFW :| Plus, if the new CFW were to fix the 5.50 deal, then wouldn't it be common sense that it would be a 5.50M33? Besides, there's the PSP Update Trick homebrew that'll fix this PSN issue anyways, though you could easily replace the version.txt with a 5.50 version.txt and avoid more apps on your psp :| On a side-note, it won't help you if you try to play newer UMDs that require 5.50, so DA needs to reconsider making a 5.50M33 or else there will a nice population that'll convert to the homebrew-conflicty GEN to play newer games :(

OMG SAVE OUR PSN!!111

I love how people have started to leave M33 firmware for GEN, not that im saying anything bad about GEN, there defiantly a good team, but if you all have patience DAX will be back with a new M33 Firmware, he has exams and you have to be fair here, he devotes his time to unlock our PSP to it's real potenial and all for the goodness of his heart. Just give him a chance, and props to GEN for providing a great alternative.

I'm still running M33

I've done nothing but run M33 since I first hacked my PSP, I have no doubts DA will return with a new CFW, the only thing that concerns is when and why, because I'm a little aggrevated with his side on the 5.50 FW, I mean, if it jumped to 5.05, then he'd make a new CFW, but it seems a major jump to 5.50 isn't good enough, not to mention that it has even more PSN connectivity (I'm still wondering as to why PSN is such a big thing now, what's so great about it?).

I only partly agree...

Sure people should be patient, but you were wrong about the exams stuff. Firstly, it wasnt DA who said they had exams on their site, that was their webmaster Alek. Notice theres a K on the end of that and not an X? 2 totally different people. Secondly, he mentioned having a weeks worth of exams the second week of May. Thats over now. We havent had a word of anything new in ALMOST 2 months. Yes, we should be patient, but its Alek or DA that should be telling us that. And if they don't soon, every1 might just jump ship. I dont care though, even if I go out and put GEN Firmware on my PSP and then DA releases a new one, I'll just downgrade and apply his.
by James2k - 2009-07-02 12:01:15
Agreed

But he does have a life out of the PSP Scene and maybe he just doesn't have enough time to tinker with PSP consoles as much. I respect his decision either way. Thought I don't think he has jumped and quit. He's decent and would inform us.
