Custom Firmware 3.93 - comes with in-XMB recovery |
Ó

While waiting for the next custom firmware coming from Dark AleX and Team M33, there's one based on the official Sony PlayStation Portable firmware 3.93 that surfaced which appears to be a functional alternative. Only known as CFW 3.93, it's said to be rooted in M33's work and gives credit to usual CFW contributors.
To kick things off, here's the changelog provided for CFW 3.93
- Uses the 3.93 kernel
- Implemented all the original custom firmware features.
- Ability to use the normal recovery inside the XMB by pressing the HOME button:
- When in the recovery, the system is suspended, and you can change all options directly.
- All options work immediately, there is no need to reboot (even the Slim's USB charging option)
- Ability to make a Pandora battery from the recovery, read and restore the EEPROM, etc. Providing that the motherboard supports it.
- Ability to hide the MAC address in System Information, if you do so, the MAC will show visually as all 0's.
- Ability to save the savegames in normal format, rather then encrypted (only functions in March33 and Sony NP9960 mode).
- The native 3.93 pops isn't as good as the previous pops, therefor I hope the popsloader will get updated to support 3.93.
With that out of the way, if you're still wondering what this custom firmware is all about, here's a video demonstrating its features:

about the video... i didnt see the user access the recovery menu by pressing home button(which is one of the said features).. did he? and about the colorful recovery... that is so easy to do... that's why i am pretty much unconvinced in upgrading my psp... so if anyone already tried it... can you confirm if you could really access the recovery by pressing the home button... or am i missing something here? please upload the flash0 files... any help would be appreciated...

I'm so gonna laugh at you if something happens (e.g. DAX quits and everyone starts using these CFWs, or if this guy is really DAX).. Haha good luck.

I not going to update my psp to this and wake up the next morning with a Brick XMB and a Brick Recovery mode. Then I really screw because I don't got a *****ing extra psp to do Pandora.

1. Obv the nickname
2. theketchupman created the xmb recovery menus for many other custom firmwares, so he might have fancied creating his own.

And it's not even 3.95...

I mean, how many people had trouble upgrading to 3.80 M33 from those "HX" CFWs?

Just extract that entire .zip/.rar file into the root of the memory stick and run the CFW Installer.
I followed the instructions and copied the 3.93.PBP into the PSP/Game/UPDATE Folder and put the official update in the root folder! Then booted up what I though was the CFW program.
Now my PSP is totally worthless to me.
To the Person Who uploaded the CFW 3.93, "If you are going to make some changes to the release, at least change the readme file so people don't end up upgrading to the real 3.93 firmware.
Reply
this is what the readme says
Create a folder called UPDATE in /PSP/GAME and copy the EBOOT.PBP there included in this package.
Copy the original Sony 3.93 update to the root of the memory stick with the name 393.PBP
Launch app, and follow the instructions.
and it is right
press select just to make sure you are on ofw

I took the 393.PBP file and put it in the UPDATE folder int the GAME folder, and renamed the 393.PBP file to EBOOT.PBP. Then I downloaded the offical 3.93 firmware and put it in the root folder and renamed it to 393.PBP. Then I launched the program (turned out to be offical PSP Firmware) and followed the instructions.
The next thing I knew, I couldn't run any homebrew programs and my psp become completely worthless.
A proper readme would say: "Copy the PSP folder and 393.PHP file to the root of the memory stick and click Yes All to over write the files. Then launch the application and follow the instructions."
Reply
The problem is the person who setup all the folders and everything in the .zip/.rar file, didn't even care to edit the readme file.

I could:
1. Buy one on eBay.
2. Buy an Datel Tool Battery (puts psp into service mod)
3. Convert the current psp battery to pandora by taking it apart and desolder one leg of a surface mount chip and create the magic memory stick.

I'm side grading back to M33. But it's pretty sweet if you don't want POP's Support.

Show support for upcoming devs and stop being so naggy.
I mean even DAX started from the bottom of the ladder and some ppl here are criticising the person who made this for being a rip-off whereas he clearly recognised all those who made M33.
Show some support for *****'s sake. All you guys do is nag....
