When art said it...

Art has recently posted on the Official X-Flash Board that X-Flash V16 - Basic support for 2.71 SE-B will be out soon. According to him, the same program runs on 1.50 and 2.71 SE, and behaves accordingly after the PSP firmware version is auto detected. Nice to hear about an update especially since there was once word that there wouldn't be any. Ah such is news.

Here are the pertinent details surrounding the upcoming Application:

Due for X-Flash V16 (DA 2.71 SE support features):
  • Disable Wave Effect (disables wave effect properly, so you don't even see it for that second while your wallpaper loads)
  • Custom Monthly Backgrounds, including Plain Black Backgrounds.
  • Custom Font (sample font included is now the ASCII font).
  • Disable Network Update Icon functionality.
  • Custom Name Plate picture (Easter Egg "Art" name plate is disabled  in 2.71 SE since only basic pictures work).
  • Firmware Dump (At least 21 Mb free space required for 2.71 SE).
  • Registry Backup and Restore Tool.
  • Custom Gameboots (Plain black gameboot doesn't currently work).
Currently Disabled (not working for 2.71):
  • Debranded intro and gameboot screens.
  • XMB Menu Label editor.
  • Firmware Version Spoofers.
  • Coldboot and XMB sounds.
We'll update you when we get more details regarding this fine piece of work.

Yes

Yes! I'm excited. However why isn't there support for debranded intro and gameboots? I was able to do it myself. Maybe it's a coding thing. GJ Art.

Debranded Gameboot

yeah you can debrand the gameboot by using pspset .9 (yah i kno its for 1.5 but it works for the intro) with a pre- debranded opening_plugin.rco i found my debranded one off of google, back to pspset i wouldnt use it to flash anything else tho i got a semi brick when trying to flash backgrounds (ty recovory!)

*****!!

This app is the worst thing that came to psp, the amount of bricked psp's this application has caused is terrible!!

Why?

Why isn't the debranded intro and gameboot screens enabled. It does work on 2.71 because it works fine for me.

ME

what do you mean? I Used x-flash so many times on my once 1.5 (is now 2.71 SE-B), and I never EVER even got a semi-brick. Just read the tutorials. I even used the gameboot for GTA LCS and it didn't brick.

Darn

What I was hoping for is custom XMB Labels... Hopefully it will be implemented in a later release.

Youre dumb

Wtf are you talking about? X-Flash is, in my opinion, the safest firmware flasher available. For example, if your custom gameboot is larger than recomended, it wil shut down just because of that. Theres all kind of fool-proofs all over that app, so once again... Youre dumb.

Swap X and O buttons

Can i swap the X and O buttons with 2.71 SE-B, and if this program cant do you think they will make one??

replies

Thanx for the comments guys, It's almost time for the first dual firmware release :) 1. I can only swap X and O buttons with a routine that resets the rest of the registry (like PSP set does it). I chose not to include it that way because you lose all settings if you use it. 2. Debranded options require data to be written to different addresses for original 2.71 SE files. It shouldn't be a problem supporting this in a later version. I can't assume that everyone has replaced their opening_plugin.rco. 3. Menu Editor may be supported in a later version that can auto detect different version topmenu_plugin files. As a side note.. some features were adjusted to suit 2.71, including Network Update Disable, Disable Wave effect, and custom font restore features... so I am working... Cheers, Art.

Swap buttons

I think that you should include the X and O swap, what would it do to your psp?, and what settings?
