CIntro |
Ó
Piccahoe (aka "ピッカホ" if your browser supports Japanese text) has released CIntro over at our QJ forums. It is a .PMF file player, so it goes without saying that you should only use .PMF movies. Above is a YouTube demo of it (from Kage no Yami).
[A note from QJ: Even though Piccahoe is sure that your PSP should be safe, we want to remind you that only *you* are responsible for your PSP. Whenever you try homebrew, you take a risk. So be warned.] Here are the details straight from the readme:
- BEFORE ANYTHING, I WOULd LIKE TO THANKS AND GIVE MOST OF THE CREDIT TO Sorin P. C who make the pmfplayer AND THANKS TO DARK_ALEX FOR MAKING THE CUSTOM FIRMWARE!
- WHAT THE HECK IS THIS?
- This is almost like HelloPRX by Sousanator except it plays PMF files instead of displaying ascii.
- This program will play a PMF file after you do a hardboot. During the movie, you can press X to skip the movie...However, the movie will freeze and if you press X right when the movie is about to be over.
- THIS SHOULD NOT BRICK YOUR PSP SINCE YOU HAVE ALEX'S CUSTOM FIRMWARE OR HARLY OR ANOTHER CUZTOM FIRMWARE INSTALLED!!!
- NOTE: YOU CAN ONLY USE .PMF MOVIES
- Requirements:
- Custom Firmware Proof of Concept - by Dark_Alex
- An PMF movie that you want your intro to be
- 1.5 Firmware (this has not been tested out on 2.71...email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it if you tried it on 2.71.)
- How-to-Install: THIS WILL OVERWRITE PSPSYSTEMCONFIG.TXT if you want to edit config CONFIG.TXT yourself you can. I recommend it if you have harly custom firmware or another custom firmware installed (SEE SELF INSTALL)
- 1. Activate your USB
- 2. Open up the zip and put the folder "PSP" in the root folder
- Self-install (if you have custom firmware by harly or another custom firmware installed)
- 1. Open the "self installed" folder and copy the PSP folder in the main root.
- 2. backup config.txt open up config.txt
- 3. after autoboot = type in "ms0:/PSP/SYSTEM/INTRO/EBOOT.PBP";
- IF YOU MESS UP YOU CAN ALWAYS HOLD L AND R AFTER YOUR HARD BOOT YOUR PSP.
- CONFIGURATION:
- You can config this program so it will run another program when the movie is over.
- all you have to do is go to :PSPSYSTEMINTROintrocfg.ini, open it up and type the path of what you want to boot up
- example:
open up introcfg.ini and type ms0:/PSP/GAME/IRSHELL/EBOOT.PBP to boot up irshell
open up introcfg.ini and type "xmb" (all in lowercase) to run the sony XMB - KNOWN BUGS:
- movie will freeze and if you press X right when the movie is about to be over

yay first
Wow that was really cool, I want to try this one but my PSP is 2.71 and I'm not going to take the risk but until someone does test it on 2.71 I'll be sure to find out the details. Good Job!
"[A note from QJ: Even though Piccahoe is sure that your PSP should be safe, we want to remind you that only *you* are responsible for your PSP. Whenever you try homebrew, you take a risk. So be warned.] " "QJ.net won't be responsible for any content that has not been hosted at our download site" well thats kinda odd..I thought Qj has said before (like with the virus thing) that we should download things from sites that test everything first, like here. Everyday now I feel you guys test less and less releases. Hope I'm wrong.
I don't really think they actually tested this out, and if they did, well then they just add that in there because it MAY brick your PSP if something goes wrong. So they don't want to be held liable. If done correctly it works :)
QJ tests the things it posts about. But even if QJ has tested it, the disclaimer and warning messages still should be included in articles. After all, just because it works with QJ doesn't mean it will work with everybody's PSPs. If even the professionals like Microsoft and Apple have to do emergency patches for their big mistakes, then that means that we have to be extra careful with homebrew because the hardworking homebrew developers don't have the same resources to do extensive beta testing. So, to answer your question, QJ tests homebrew. But QJ writers are obligated to warn their readers of possible dangers (you never know if some noob will try it without reading the instructions; some poor noob might get the wrong idea that because QJ has tested it then everything is "safe" and "nothing could possibly go wrong"). It seems that the WARNING messages are there for two big reasons: 1) so that everybody knows this is serious stuff and that you should use this software carefully and 2) you never know if the developer, despite all the hard work, accidentally left something out or left something in.
I better like the hello world message boot stuff! :D ASCii rulz!! :D
Couldn't irShell already play PMF files? I'm sure I can remember watching the Bleach Gameboot when I was using irShell... =/ It didn't need to hardboot either. It just played it.
2.71 se works. yay. i got it working.
Anybody else also got it to work? Also, this is a good site to get your pmf files (originally intended for use with Devhook) http://www.uwants.com/viewthread.php?tid+2726736+extra+page%3D6
2.71SE firmware download: http://rapidshare.de/files/36706395/271_SE-A-Build3.exe
man, ive been wanting this exact app for so long!! THANK YOU!!! that video from coded arms will be perfect for my intro!
this wont work with harleyg CF. harleyg has no normal autoboot other than the devhook (unless you wanna remove the devhook thing) and the one that cna be run wen u hold down X, but if youre holding down X, itll skip the intro i assume, no only that, but its stupid to hold down x just to watch a video.. :/
damn so it wont work well is there any difference with dark alex custom firmware and harley g firmware
irshell plays pmf files that what i use
I thought this was meant to play when the psp boots....
The program plays them on bootup instead of just playing them
you can use Ahman's CF for irShell.. it autoboots without holding any key..
this works well ^^ can someone tell where to get kingdom hearts pmf gameboot?
there is one where you press o to skip in the forum topic as well as config.txt's that are pre done http://forums.qj.net/f-psp-development-forum-11/t-release-cintro-74397/
