Change firmware names - Firmware Version Spoofer for 3.52 M33-4 |
Ó
For those who want to a harmless little mod for a friend's PlayStation Portable or merely want to give their own handhelds that extra bit of customization, then Yongobongo has you covered with the Firmware Version Spoofer.
It's a handy little homebrew application that lets you change your PSP's displayed firmware version - you can give your custom firmware a name of up to 12 characters - easily and on the fly. Let's take a gander at the accompanying post, unedited and as is:
This program allows you to change your PSP's displayed firmware version 'on-the-go'.
Easy to use interface allows you to quickly enter your desired name (up to 12 characters for this version, maybe more when I have explored the vshctrl a bit more ) and flash it straight to your PSP unit.
This program is for use ONLY on 3.52 M33-4.
Usage:
Press right/left to change the selected variable.
Press up/down to change the data (character) in the selected variable.
Press square to switch betwen upper and lower cases.
Press cross to flash the new vshctrl.prx. Press start to return to text entry after flashing.
Not too complicated, and very easy, wouldn't you say? But please don't be mean: avoid the temptation of fooling your newbie friends into thinking that you've accidentally downgraded their PSP's firmware - or that you've given your own an uber-advanced firmware that Sony only gave to its "super secret fanclub members."
Play nice. The possibilities are endless, if you think hard enough. Just make sure you read the attached readme before installing or using the application. And just in case you missed it, the Firmware Version Spoofer is only for 3.52 M33-4.

useless.
Useless.
I'm doing this to show my n00b friends that I got the top-secret 4.00 beta.
shu up, flamer.this is to customize not to be usefull. thankx! love this tool
useless
nice app, but I don't need this anymore, 'cause I made it via hex editing the decrypted vshctrl.prx
I totaly agree USELESS
Nevertheless good for everybody else.
Is this a global spoofer? In other words, if a game came out that required 3.71 firmware and I had 3.52M33, would I be able to use this to boot the game that required the new firmware? Assuming that the game actually doesn't require any new firmware features, of course.
the game checks certain files "i think the index.dat and some other file". to make the game compatibile you would need to convert it to iso and change all refrences of 3.71 to 3.52
i think ill change me system software to f*ck off. nice app btw..
Thats how pose AoP Team change 3.52 M33 to 3.52 AOP-A
Could this be used to trick Flash Agent into thinking you have capable firmware? I really want an easy way to flash stuff on my PSP without the likes of UFO (which breaked my PSP while freeing flash0 space [Pandora fixed that]).
Is This The Same Group? People, Why Waste Your Time Making STUPID programs WE DONT NEED THIS JUNK! A WASTE OF WEB SPACE! and Besides., I DONT LET NO ONE TOUCH MY PSP I DONT NEED TO SEE A STUPID FIRMWARE # OR NAME! Please STOP POSTING THESE STUPID NEW UPDATES YOUR PAGE LOOKS BAD!!!!
no it doesn't work and second of all theres not much point. many of the features in flash agent that have to do with firmware mods won't work since they use the format in 3.03 which is rejected in 3.10 and over.
you guys are a bunch of flamers man!this app is so cool u can trick your n00b friends and freak em out! Dont Hate Appreciate!
"useless" Maybe, but your comment is useless as well.
I use to complain about the different firware release but, M33 lerned me that we should be gratefull for what we be gettin. So lets open our arms to this new kid on the block and say a warm hello to them. Remember we are all in this together.
Found if you go too far to the right, the last ! mark, and press right again, it bug's out.. .. if you hit 'X' to save, it does its thing, but keeps saying 'flashing' even though its done... doesn't exit the application nor let you press any key to. Pressing 'home' works, but if you had hit the bug i first mentioned, it throws a wobbly (writes a horrible piece of text to the screen for about 5 seconds, then goes back to the XMB. Flashed ok tho.. noticed also the first 4 characters you can't select text, only numbers and symbols, which sucks.
