CES 2007: PSP homebrew makes presence felt at Sony booth |

Ó
We would now like to take to take this opportunity to ask all of you to please check out the two images below. In fact, we encourage you to view the pictures in their original 1280x960 resolution, just so you can see what we're talking about.
Do you see it?
Anyway, these photos were sent to us by one of our readers, Geno, and he notes that these were taken at this year's CES floor. They found Sony's PSP booth, and while looking at the displays, decided that they liked their own handhelds better. And to prove it, they took these pictures.
On a lighter note though, Geno says that these pics are "Just a little 'thank you' from us to Dark_aleX and pspupdates for bringing so much information to the masses."
Thanks for the pics, Geno! We're pretty sure DAX appreciates it, too. :D

Dose Sony support us now?

There's no possible way someone could have downgraded the PSP and then upgrade to 3.03 OE-A..so it MUST have been Sony!
Why the hell?!

1) Sony has no need for the firmware.
2) Those PSP's are barely attached to anything.

then the 2nd one as aDcOoL mentioned, is certainly NOT sony's (because there's no security chain).
sure, i'd be nice if sony would open up to homebrew, but why would they change now?

I mean, is there proof that these are Sony PSPs? And if they aren't, then what's so cool about someone who uses homebrew going to CES and taking a picture of their PSP?
Reply
So no, Sony was NOT using custom firmware on their models at CES. They WERE, however, showing the fan made advertisement that was seen here recently on that screen you will see in the first shot. I wasn't aware that Sony had struck up a deal with the creator of it to be shown pubicly as their own advertisement.
This is embarrassing to explain and hopefully gets changed as I don't want you guys catching any heat for spreading false information.

I definitely think the author of this article should edit the article to say that it's a joke and that those aren't really Sony's "Demo" PSPs.

Sure they are not perfect and always try to make us update. For what? To prevent thousands of those pirating their software, depriving them of a healthy profit. No wonder PSP sales lag so much behind. SURE, if you say so you're not one of them.
C'mon guys, Sony gave us the bloody PSP! With nifty features, PS1 emulation and great games. It's a beautiful and very capable handheld. I'm all for the homebrew scene, but cut that rebel bullsh*t.
I'm no representative of Sony. I'm as frustrated at them about the PS3 as anyone, but there is a limit to absurd amount of hate thrown back at them.
You can keep the hate thoughts to yourselves, but show them appreaciation, by buying games. So they can make an even better PSP and release more great titles. That's all.
Peace!

In the second pic, it's one of the guys PSP's again, not Sony's.
Is it really that hard to understand you f**kheads...

its bravery and flattery and downright disturbing for sony though.

Some people forgetting who developed the PSP..
And Sony didn't developed it for us.. but for the profit..
not even homebrew is free!
you pay nothing that's right.. but homebrew developers pay the price instead of you, by spending their own money, and most important, their own time..
so sure we can be very thankful to Sony for creating the PSP, and sure we should support the homebrew developers for extending the PSP's capabilities the smart way..
btw.. a wriststrap like that would only come off with your wrist dear GnomeTryouts..
