Bookr - new release for 1.50 to 3.xx Kernels |
Ó
The last time we saw the PDF reader Bookr from PlayStation Portable homebrew developers Carlos Carrasco Martinez (ccm304) and Edward Choh (edwardchoh) was last year when the team released the application's version 0.7.1. Well, XmbController developer Mr305 has picked up Bookr and updated the app for newer custom firmwares.
If you're unfamiliar with the said application, here's a bit of a primer. Bookr is a plain text and PDF reader. Its last release was August last year when the devs added a couple of features to the package. Anyway, for this release, Mr305 made the application compatible with custom firmwares 3.xx and FW 1.50. Here are a few notes from the release thread:
- Just remember to use the CIRCLE button instead of X for select.
- I suggest setting "Fast images to TRUE" in settings.

"Bookr 0.7.1 - August 16th 2006"
Bookr has *always* worked on the 3.xx kernels.
He has compiled it with the patches submitted to the sourceforge project and released it as binary. According to the posts at SF, I assumed they didn't want it released as a binary because the patches weren't fully integrated as of yet.
What changed, XO buttons were swapped, some speed settings were added, depending on which patch Mr used a new ebook format was added to the viewables.
Thanks for the up, I have been using bookr since its inception, great little app.
and the buttons weren't swapped, it has always been the O button for select.
I'm just wondering what the limitations of this
app is. The last PDF reader for the PSP could
only read files 8kb and smaller.
I've got PDFs and ebooks that reach file sizes
of 100mb plus with rich images as well.
I can't be bothered with yet another app failing
to deliver what should already be fully
functional by now.
Has anybody tested this app to see how good
it does yet? I'm afraid to be disappointed again.
there's an unofficial version floating around which is IMO much better than this release. the unofficial version had a much needed GO TO PAGE function and supported djvu files.. it also has the x and o buttons swapped, among other improvements.. try searching the dcemu boards for it..
