PSP homebrew developer Xeeynamo has released smallHex v1.3. It's basically an application that allows you to tweak some files in binary mode. It's got the rudimentary functions of any hex editor out there, neatly packed into one tiny (but still quite powerful) homebrew app.

Oh, and the GUI is done in DOS. Nothing wrong with retro!

smallHex v1.3 changelog:
  • Add "Go to offset"
  • Correct more visualizer bug
    • Only Hex
    • Only Char
  • Changed the char visualization
  • More little changes
The downloadable archive contains a full readme outlining all the changes done since its first release. It also lists the controls for the app.

» DOS?

No, sir, it's just text mode. Just because it looks vaguely like something doesn't mean it IS.

» anyone else palm to face at "GUI done in DOS"?

DOS is a text based OS and this program is obviously text based from the screenshots. GUI means Graphical User Interface and is commonly refered to as point and click interface. So unless this thing has buttons that you point and click with a mouse, it does not have a GUI.
