Custom firmware users had a treat with hallo07's nifty Battery PRX. For those who missed it last time, Battery PRX lets users view the exact percentage of their PSP's battery life from the XMB. We all know how much of a bummer it is whenever our handhelds die on us. So this is really very useful.

The homebrew coder mentioned during the last release that he will be including a lot of new features when the next version comes out. And what do you know, Battery PRX v0.021 is already here! Here's the changelog:

v0.02
  • PSP - Image 1Start up button is HOME
  • Possibility to look at the minutes left for battery
  • See the CPU speed
  • Battery is lower then 20?-->text is red
  • Display fixed
v0.021
  • Bug fix
Installing Battery PRX is quite easy. All you have to do is copy the files to the SEPLUGINS map. After that, create either a vsh.txt or game.txt. You can try pushing HOME twice to see it. Lastly, enable the program in recovery mode.

» What game are you trying?

It doesn't make my games crash... The plugin doesn't even work in games yet, but it works on the XMB menu perfectly. If the next release shows in game as well, this will be a very handy plugin. But it doesn't make my games crash, so maybe it is something else, or a certain game?

» reading is good

read the readme from dark alex custom firmware which you probably have... it tells you how to install plugins without flashing. it also tells you other cool stuff...

by .A.J. - 2007-02-21 07:43
» use the existing one.

I just used the one that I got with the mp3 player and screen capture plugins that I downloaded. If you already have that. open it, copy the square that separates the other two plugins paste it to the end of the line and then I just followed the pattern already there.

Mine looks like this

ms0:/seplugins/capture.prx

ms0:/seplugins/irsmp3.prx

ms0:/seplugins/battery.prx

except it's all in one line with no spaces and there is a square where the spaces would belong.

I hope this helps, I don't know anything about this stuff, I just figured it out. Good luck.

BTW, Thanks for the plugin Hallo007. It works great on my 3.10 OE-A

by wow - 2007-02-21 07:49
» its not that hard

make a folder in the root of your memory stick called

"SEplugins"

inside that folder make a text file (right click "new")

name that "VSH.txt" then open it and type

"MS0:/SEplugins/battery.prx"

save and then move this prx file to that folder

boot into recovery mode and go to plugins and enable it

» After more testing...

It seems to work perfectly in the XMB itself, but after opening the internet browser, the PSP froze up after several minutes. Also, I was able to get the plugin working by putting it in the "game.txt" folder and enabling it. Unfortunately, my game froze when trying to load a game. I won't be using this plugin until it is further worked on.

some of psp dont got plugins working so flash it on flash0.

Great work!

» re

how can you brick your psp with UP? cant you just flash the UP using the usb interface...? oO

by aldostools - 2007-02-21 10:51
» Not fully compatible with some plugins

If vshanalog.prx is installed, the PSP tend to freeze when it is booting. Then it works after turning off the PSP a couple of times... but it happens again when I turn off the PSP. This doesn't happen when I disable the vshanalog.prx

Another problem is that 3.10 OE-A' only supports 5 plugins in vsh.txt, but currently I have 6. It would be great if cfe_vsh.prx include this feature and the vshanalog feature:

ms0:/seplugins/cfe_vsh.prx

ms0:/seplugins/irsmp3.prx

ms0:/seplugins/battery.prx

ms0:/seplugins/vshanalog.prx

ms0:/seplugins/usbmount_vsh.prx

ms0:/seplugins/usbhostfs.prx

» thanks man

lol you should be a writer for QJ you made it so much simpler

by aldostools - 2007-02-21 13:21
» some findings...

TIP1: You can have more than 5 plugins if you go to recovery advanced menu and flash the battery.prx in the f0:/kn folder in flash0, and add the plugin name "$/kd/battery.prx" to pspbtcnf.txt, pspbtcnf_game.txt and pspbtcnf_pops.txt (after the $/kd/mediasync.prx).

TIP2: Adding the name to "pspbtcnf_pops.txt" will allows you see the battery level in PSone emulated games. Unlike vsh and in-games, the text doesn't looks very well in POPs. So I guess it should work adding the plugin name to POPS.TXT in ms0:/seplugins.

» great plugin!!

i think this plugin is very useful!!

i've always wanted something like an percentage or time of my battery life. could this plugin even show an message at 10% battery life like "warning, low battery!" or something like that?

by Bored - 2007-02-22 01:40
» Warning message

"show an message at 10% battery life like "warning, low battery!" or something like that?"

When that happens, the right-hand side light indicator starts flashing. No plugin needed for that.
