Back from the boondocks: LightMP3 v2.0.0 RC1 gets big update |
Ó
Major time warp, folks! Sakya's back with a biiiiig bulky update for his ever-popular LightMP3 homebrew application! It's been almost half a year since the previous update, but now he's making up for lost time.
For those who need a recap (or an introduction), LightMP3 is a power-saving music player that supports MP3, OOGG Vorbis, ATRAC3, and FLAC. How much battery life does it save? Well, as Sakya's supposedly tested it:
- With the display set to minimum brightness the battery should last at least 9 hours.
- With the display off the battery should last at least 11 hours.
- Added: You can sort records in the Media Library (press TRIANGLE)
- Added: support for filename with foreign characters (àèìòù...) - Many thanks to cooleyes for the FAT driver
- Added: cpu clock set to minimum value when music is paused
- Added: French, German, Polish, Spanish language
- Added: Smoother progress bar
- Added: Icons for folder/music in file browser and media library
- Added: New ICON0.PNG and PIC1.PNG (many thanks to dario1crisafulli)
- Added: Display will turn off when HOLD is set to ON, and will turn on when HOLD is set to off
- Added: In Media Library when you select an artist you see an album's list (not a song list)
- Added: You can add a playlist to the current one by pressing start in the file browser (or square on the directory containing the playlist)
- Added: Option to change the media library root dir (look at the file "settings", this option doesen't appear in the settings tab)
- Fixed: Crash with some album art (switched to libjpeg, thanks to Kevin Kim)
- Fixed: Better Korean support (thanks to Kevin Kim)
- Fixed: Strings are limited inside the menu area.
- Fixed: Sleep bug for MP3 and ATRAC3+ files (doesen't work with OGG)
- Fixed: Some crash in the Media Library.
- Fixed: Bug in audioscrobbler log (wrong UTC time)
There are tons more of info included in the readme so make sure you take a look at it; drop by the forums as well to give a shout out to Sakya!

Comments [refresh]
Im first to comment!!!
is to skip songs in playlist that have been deleted. It takes so long to create a playlist , that if you delete just 1 song from it, it freezes and shuts down.
Comment on what? dumbass
i love this app. been using it for a long time.
Sweet that's a picture of the skin i made for lightMP3.
I really enjoy this app, use it almost everyday.
I'm sooooo glad that he finally fixed the bug that would make the song not continue playing when you put it on sleep... it was a HUGE pain in the arse when listening to audio books and audio language lessons.
The one thing that still bothers me that still needs to be taken care of is how the back skip button goes to the song before instead of the beginning of the song that you're on. Every time I decide that I want to hear a song one more time, I have to either wait until it goes to the next song and then press back or press back, wait for the song before to start and then press forward, it's just a big pain.
forgot to say that this program is the most used program on my PSP...
I especially appreciate the start button turning off the display... its nice to be able to adjust the volume or skip tracks without the display turning back on... *cough*sonyshou ldtakenote*coug h*
I run it using media engine, so I can run it at 20 mhz without so much as a skip. (used to run it at 19mhz, but it started skipping a bit during songs when using the HOLD plugin... increasing it by 1 mhz stopped that problem)
I don't thing I've ever had to worry about running out of battery at all...
