Got some spare 15MB in your memstick? Of course you do! Of course, you should - rather! AhMan is back with an update for iR Shell! There's quite a lot of new features for this popular PSP shell's latest release, so we better get to it, pronto!
New Features:
- Support Playstation Network downloable games & demos. Pls note you need to set Umd Mode to M33 or NP9660 in iR Configurator in order to run PSN titles.
- Added support to interlaced TV including component interlace & composite. You can configure the TV type via "TV Mode" option in iR Configurator. You should only use the iR Shell hotkey (Left Trigger + Right) to toggle between TV mode & PSP LCD. Don't press PSP display button to switch TV mode. Games & homebrews launching from iR Shell will inherit the TV mode. Most games will run at full speed with default CPU clock. If you experience slow down for certain games, you can modify the CPU clock speed to 333MHz in iR Shell.
- For slim PSP TV out, added an option to control the audio output to PSP speaker. This will be useful for docking station with TV out & charging capabilities. An option named "TV Out Cable Audio Output" in iR Configuator allows you to choose the audio to be outputed to TV, PSP, or following the active display. For the "Following active display", the audio will come from the PSP when the LCD screen is active; when you switch the display to TV, the audio will be re-routed to TV.
- Added an option to disable Memory Stick MagicGate support. This is meant to be used for PhotoFast microSD to MSPD adapter, or other similar non-MagicGate MS. By disabling the MagicGate support, you will no longer experience the annoying pause in XMB, such as turning on the PSP, switching off USB mode from XMB, quiting game/homebrew back to XMB, entering XMB video directory, etc. You shouldn't disable the MagicGate Support if you're using a genuine Sony or Sandisk MSPD.
- Added connection timeout support for nethostfs. You can modify the "NetHost Conncetion Timeout" value in iR Configurator. Default is 10 seconds. Previously, the connection will block for 1 minute if the host doesn't exist.
- For the IR learning remote, the 30 seconds timeout has been removed. Instead, you can now press SELECT button to abort the learning process.
- For the IR learning remote, added an option "R-Trigger + Select" to define number of iR Code segments to be captured. This is only useful for certain rare remotes that need consecutive code pairs to work. If you don't know what it is, you probably don't need it.
- Added ability to have a user supplied font file for each skin. Name your font file as "font.fnt" and place it under your skin directory. You can also place a default font file under /IRSHELL/SYSTEM. This default font file will be used if no font file residing in the skin directory when you're installing a skin. Pls note if there are no default font file in /IRSHELL/SYSTEM and skin directory, the system will use an internal font (the original iR Shell font). The user supplied font file needs to be 8x8 fixed width bitmap font. The font file must cover the standard ASCII character set 0x20 - 0x7F, ASCII code 0x00 - 0x1F are dummies & won't be used in iR Shell.
- Added a "Line Spacing" option in iR Configurator which allows to define the line spacing in all iR Shell views (DIR, APP, SAV & RDF). The line spacing unit is in number of pixels. Default is 2. Prior to this release, the line spacing was always 0.
- The APP View will crash for certain homebrews.
- When you edit an existing remote, it will always default to 40kHz. Now, the default carrier frequency will be the 1st learned IR code in the remote file.
- The HOME button is not disabled when switching from APP/Game to iR Shell. Pressing the HOME button to quit while in iR Shell will hang the system.
- Some ISOs using sceKernelLoadExec() failed to work under NP9660 mode.
- PRXPlugin isn't working when nethostfs MAX mode is active for Phat.
- Unzip the archive and place the content to the root directory of your memory stick. Make sure to apply the irspatch under ms0:/IRSHELL/PATCH directory for your cooresponding firmware version.

I was an avid psp user when i got one a year ago. I used it a lot and I modded it and everything. Then I ran out of home brew. All psp home brew creators ran out of ideas and now the psp sucks. You guys are all loser nerds if you still have yours. If you take your psp in public do you know what people think? "Whoa, look at that nerd playing with his little game boy." That is really embarrassing. You should seriously sell yours while people ares still dumb enough to buy them. NERDS!!!
The TV Out option really is great!Games run at full speed!However the image is not on full screen...

@firesign3394; What the hell are you doing here then? If you think the PSP is some fashion accessory then sell yours & stop visiting this site. We dont need people like you on here anyways so good riddance But as for the rest of us here we realize how great the psp is for everyday life - i would 10x prefer to put my psp into my pocket , take it on the road with me to browse the web or play any game created pre-Dreamcast era or watch a movie or even listen to music and the list goes on So i can list 100+ reasons why the psp is a great system and you sir can only say it's a dead "nerds" console - well if thats how you feel i suggest you just go ahead and sell your computer and Consoles because those are for nerds by your standards then too And FYI-Most girls like games especialy classic ones like Super mario - and to have those great classics on the psp is just another reason to HAVE one - rather then not.

If hacking your psp to do whatever you want is nerdy, then sign me up! I've made plenty cash dealing in psp over the years, Im getting a 3000 this/ next month. By all means, you wanna sell yours cheap, i could use a fourth one. Just beacause you've outgrown psp, doesnt mean the rest of us have. Powder is my FAV homebrew, it just came out last month. I had to reply to this. My fiancee and many other girls I've met all love the ORIGINAL mario for NES, and surprisingly, girls seem to like Loco Roco too...........great to have on the go!
How in the hell do you "run out of homebrew"? It's not like there's a timer in every one of them. Anyway, this kid is trolling so don't feed it. Avid user? i have the 4.8 ir shell do i just apply the patch?? or do i have to put the whole ir shell folder in my psp because i have settings/themes/ext app plugins saved on the old ir shell :S

Ha, you think PSP is dead??? LMAO dont make me jump of a building. PSP isn't dead! I'm 17 and everyone at ma skool have a psp around, we play sometimes with random people at skool. Killzone, etc... Every single person plays a Video Game, PSP, DS, PS3, XBOX360, Wii, whatever it is everyone plays. If you used your PSP 24/7 and got bored of it, Then look at yourself NERD!!! "YOU HAVE NO LIFE" and tats why you spent playing 24/7. I don't play with my PSP all the time, only when I feel like it, I got better stuff to do like Driving around with friends and chillen with them. LOSER NERD YOU!!! HAHAHA!! Besides a PSP isn't a stupid Game boy for games, I use mine for Music too and thankgod its way better than a Freakin Ipod, because I actually can store 16GB on it thanks to the memory card I have, o and guess what I have a Sony Cam. I take Pics and guess wat "I can see them on the psp". Don't ever Mistaken a PSP for just a video Game. And if you think the PSP is Dead, not even! The only way the PSP might seem dead is if you`re on OFW. If you have CFW it certainly is not dead. Homebrew is what keeps it alive like IRShell (awesome job), PSPTube, and things like music.prx that adds more features because sony doesnt make an attempt to try anything. My friends that has OFW gave up years ago on the PSP. Those with CFW wont put it down at all. I know sony tries to compete (with very low effort) but they are too stubborn to listen to what we actually want, not some half-assed PSP PS store that doesn`t even have movie rentals, or a so called better screen not worth upgrading at all. Improving the horrible internet browser might be good, or implementing the camera, gps, and maybe bluetooth for more device connectivity and better audio quality(cause the speakers/hardware/bass are not the best), but thats not the point. Saying the PSP is dead especially on CFW is wrong (OFW on the other hand might be different). With homebrew, its pretty much like those APPs from the App store and we know we never get bored with that, as it keeps on becoming updated. Ceratinly for us Cfw users it is not dead and one day sony might take homebrew suggestions, make some of them in the FW and the PSP might be more alive then ever attracting new users once again with updated features to compete with the NDS and Ipod touch. Then we can shove it in the face of d1ckheads like firesign.
That's just plain wrong...
Besides that's the old skin, use one of the newer skins before bashing it. And I really don't know what you mean with this: "SO CALLED EXCLUSIVES"
