Adding Wi-Fi to Epsilon BIOS |
Ó

For modchip users, Djhg2000 from our forums offers two ways to enable and customize Wi-Fi on Epsilon BIOS: The hard way and the easy way. Yeah, you're going to want the easy way first, wouldn't you?
The easy (well, easier) way is to use his Epsilon BIOS Wi-Fi editor, downloadable from the link below. Instructions are included in the package (please read them!), but this will require the user - meaning you guys - to finalize the result with fixupdreg2.exe, which is NOT included in the package. And we're not including it, for the obvious reasons. That last step is up to you.
On the other hand, there's the hard way. It will require FileAssistant 0.4 installed on a Memory Stick Duo with at least 146,012KB free space remaining after the FA installation, and 1.50 firmware on the PSP. It will also require a bit of patience from the user - meaning you guys - as you go through each step (these steps come from Djhg's post in the forums):
- Start your 1.50 PSP
- Add you WiFi connection in the XMB (note that all connections will be copied)
- Load up FA
- Press L to sycle the command menu and highlight "Disk"
- Press R to execute command
- Highlight "BIOS 1" and press O
- Highlight "Resistry" and press O
- Scroll down until "system.ireg" is highlighted
- Press [_] twice to highlight "system.ireg" and "system.dreg"
- Make sure it says "ms0:/" inside the upper right field
- If it isn't, press right and then go to "Disk" and execute, and then press left
- Cycle the command menu until "Copy" is highlighted
- Press R to execute
- Wait for the copy to finish and then shut it down
- Insert the MS Duo into your PSP with Epsilon BIOS
- Load up FA
- Press right to choose target folder
- Cycle the command menu to "Disk" and execute
- Note that the menu appears to the left this time
- Highlight "BIOS 1" and press O
- Highlight "Registry" and press O
- Now switch back to the source folder by pressing left
- Scroll down to "system.ireg" and press [_] twice to highlight the system files
- Cycle the command menu to "Copy" and execute
- Wait for the copy to finish and then reboot
- Test your connection in for example PVNC

I don't have a modchip, so I could really care less, but I just felt the need to make sure nobody posted "FIRST!!!111!"
with 2.7 downgrader out u dont need modchip with custom firmware out you get 2.71 and 1.5 just like dual firmware no need for the modchip unless u have 2.8 but downgrader out pretty soon so.. sux for Epsilon BIOS
But then its a good way for dual f/w
your business is dead epsilon
a modchip is absolutely useless if you have a bricked psp buy a new one or a used one. It's like making a modchip for the dreamcast there is no point.
Well, the modchip is cheaper than a new PSP (unless you sell the bricked one as well) and it adds features to the PSP. Such as un-bricking.
Hmmm, wifi not working properly on epsilon, having to mess about to fix it? Sounds a bit poop to me...
I'm having no problems with it, this is useless
i think ill stick with my devhook and my non-modified psp.
whu dont people need a modchip? have you ever bricked your psp beyond the CF repair? have you ever used Epsilon BIOS and realised how easy it is to start an iso? have you ever used devhook and forgot a UMD so you couldnt play a game? with a modchip you can runs ANY updater you want(without changing the index.dat) theres little-no risks with the modchip, but one slip up with a 1.5 and BAM its dead untill you actually get a modchip or buy another psp
I agree with 17 =P
