A Simple Fonthack: The Newbie Tutorial |
So, for those who'd like to switch fonts on their PSPs, or simply want to have a reference point for the general idea of installing something on it, you might want to bookmark this for future reference. Now, let's see those instructions, shall we?
1) Download his Fonthack Noob Pack (see link below).
2) Extract to your PSP's memory stick.
3) The root of your memory stick should look like the picture below. The encircled files are the ones you just downloaded.
4) Your psp/photo folder should look like the picture below, with the encircled folder being the important thing to note.
5) Unplug your PSP and go to the photo section, and hit "x" on the fonthack folder. DO NOT HIT "START" OR RUN AS A SLIDE SHOW.
6) A black screen with writing should come up, hit "o" and count to ten, then hit "home."
7) Plug your psp back into your computer
8) Download Fonts from Birdmans Fontpack (see link below too)
9) Extract it anywhere. Go into the "Fonts from birdmans fontpack"
10) The folder should look like this:
11) Those are the folders of all of the fonts. Pick one
and go into the font folder that interests you. There is a folder called
fontmod in each of those named folders, so go into that folder and you should see this:
13) Now, just unplug the PSP from your computer, restart it, and your custom font should now be installed.
14) Give yourself a pat on the back, because if everything turned out well, you've just completed edog046's tutorial. Congratulations!

i was the first 1 who tested his FIRST guide in the psp forums, he posted up a dif guide that wasnt this simple, untill he read that me, and few others had a hard problem installing it, so he made this, he did a very good job. GOo edog :-D
4th... i dont use font hax cuz i dont like to mess wit the psp's flash.
Does any one know the theme of that deskop or where can i get it.
i think it's simple but where do you birdman's font pack? and how do you put the original font back? because when i'm done with all that crap i want the original font back. I'm not callin the homebrew crap it's pretty awesome, but you know i want to stick with the original after i've seen the other options.

@#4 this can not brick you psp u just get a bsod @#5 its windows media center edition, unless u mean the wallpaper I did this beofore this guide came out It took me about 15 tires to get it to work, but it was worth it.
Neat idea but it doesnt seem to work for me. When ever I use it, it works alright but then when a reboot it, I get some funky message that says "The settings are courrupt. Press O to reset" then it re sets every thing. Running 2.8. Any ideas?
sry about my stupid question see #6, anyways my screen doesnt go black when i open the folder with "x" on my psp. it freeze, like it does with all the other.
#10: In Birdman's font pack, you'll have three folders: FONT EXPLOIT, Fontmod, PSP FONTS. Firstly, copy that "Fontmod" folder and all of the fonts in it to the root of your PSP. Then, find the individual font you want from in the PSP FONTS folder, and copy that font file to the Fontmod directory, replacing the existing ltn0.pgf. Then try running the TIFF exploit again. #11: A number of suggestions have been made on how the TIFF exploit can be made more reliable. Firstly, the less files that are directly in your PHOTO folders, the more chance of the exploit running. Secondly, despite this tutorial saying otherwise, people report more success running as a slideshow than they do otherwise. Make sure the fonthack folder is right in your /PSP/PHOTOS/ and keep trying.
i have 2.80 and OMG it WORKS, THIS IS SO *****IN AWESOME!!! WOOT!!! SO DAMN HAPPY!! got the spidey font *****IN AWESOME, *air guitars*. Keep the good work and the newb tutorials. :)
i still have a lot of tiff homebrew but yeah it works with slideshow, i was scared of brick but i'm so damn happy right now.
Guys it tooks off all internet connections that i saved, i was trying to put the right time back and all my internet connections saves are gonne so you know remember. this is just so you know.

In the font pack somewhere it says default font or just dealete fonthack folder and the 2 system folders then you will get a blue screen of death(don't worry)just press o and thats it.
I hav a gay pokemon font but it looks cool!

#14: Important to note is that this hack has no chance of bricking your PSP: worst you can do is cause a blue screen settings error, which will fix itself (albeit resetting all of your settings in the process, but still without a bricked PSP in the end).
What the hell, I can't get this to work, i'm using 2.80, and I have all of the folders in the right DIRs... Can someone tell me whats wrong?
I have a 2.6 TA-082 PSP, and everytime I try this, I get the bluescreen which resets my settings to default. Any ideas on how to get this to work?
I've gotten it to work now, Currently using the HALO font. BADASS! GOOD TUT MAN! #28, I don't know if the TA-082's can do this hack.. Keep trying man.
Once I installed the font hack I noticed that my psp name had changed, I tried to change it but I can't see the letters I'm typing and it froze on some letters.
somehow it worked again

Rather than using this, you could use File Manager and replace the default font in Flash1 with the hacked font file of your choice, meaning rather than having to read the font of your MS, it can read it off Flash1. Just saying, because it's probably easier in the long run
Ok, I just realized Fonts are stored in Flash0. Soo... WHy not make a font hack that stores the fonts in Flash1 and directs the registry there? That way, changing MS would not screw up your font
I GOT IT TO WORK! I left a UMD in, and it worked! I forgot it was in there! Try all this with a UMD in, and it may work! WAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Ive already tried to do this many other ways, but this one actually worked! I use the GTA font

my favs the spiderman font because thats what the PS3's font is going to be also the PS3 is going to use the same menu layout (XMB) so if you change the psp's font to spiderman its like having a PS3!!!!
does this work on 2.8 psp's??? i read that you had to like edit some registry file and change all instances of "flash0:" to "ms0:" so do i not have to do that anymore?? and is it possible to brick my psp by doing this?? plz someone help
after we get the font we want can we delete the font hack file?

cool. but how would u return the faunt to it's defauld settings? would u gust restore default settings?
it cant brick your psp. it modifies flash1 not flash0. if you want the default, just take out the memory stick and reboot it, then press O. thats all. also, it works on all firmwares from 2.00-2.80. not 2.81.

guys i'm doing everything right and when i reboot my psp, it keeps saying corrupt data. I've tried it a million times and every time i try it i still get that corrupt settings screen.

I did this and got it to install but when i tried out internet it gave me the setings corupt screen. So i ran the the thing and didnt install a fgont i think it took me back to norml I this me? or does irt usually do that?

Wow works on my 2.80 PSP bought here in Japan.
When I press the o and then home it brings me to the blue screen of death!! I have 2.80. when I restart it after I do the stuff its still the same.
How can we preview the fonts without having to keepon reseting our psp and stuff???

why does the font change when its on the internet it messes up everything but if i had to rate it just becuase to font is messed you in the internet browser a 2 :D
