3GP Converter Direct Encoding Mod For PMP |
![]()
Wade Wilson has emailed us his mod for CalciumÂ’s 3GP Converter, which supports direct encoding from all the supported format by 3GP converter, to jhonny's PMP-MOD. Here is the message from him:
“That's a method for using 3GP to convert files to the .pmp format for jhonny's PMP-MOD.
This file is a new transcoding.ini file modified by me (Kurgan777) to give people MANY more options when encoding videos. The original ini file only had 9 encoding options, and was created by leavinel, I merely modded the file to add more options and change the framerate. There's now somewhere around 140 encoding options in this ini file, and results are very impressive even for the lower bitrates. Some of the options I included are to be used specifically for the new zooming features that Malloc has added to the media player.
I experimented with audio bitrates of 96kbps and 64kbps, and personally I couldn't tell the difference from 64 to 96 to 128 back to back to back using the same video, but the filesize difference is HUGE. For just a 23 minute anime episode (without credits) the switch from 128k audio to 64k audio nets a 10mb filesize savings. At 512k video and 64k audio I have 23 minutes of video at 83mb.
The supported resolutions now include 320x240, 360x272, 368x208, 480x272, 480x208, and 480x192, with bitrates of 512, 600, 768, 896, 1024, and 1280. There's single pass and double pass options for each resolution and each bitrate, and also for each audio bitrate of 64kbps and 128kbps.
Framerate has been bumped to a solid 25fps across the board and this drastically helps with fast action scenes.”
You will need the full version of the latest 3GP converter to use this mod. Simply overwrite the file with the same name “transcoding.ini” with the file in the mod.

I found the following message inside the transcoding.ini file, it seems that we need get the muxer file in order to make it work.
---Quote---
This configuration is specialized for jonny's PMP mod v1.00. It uses ffmpeg for a/v (MP3/XviD) conversion, and then mux to PMP format. Please copy pmp_muxer.exe to "3GP_Convertercor es" first.
the muxer is here, lets give it another try!
