PSP Homebrew developer mifki has released a new version of 3D Virtual Globe (also known as 3D Virtual Earth). If you're unfamiliar with this program, it's like a Google Earth app for the PSP. It's similar to PSP-maps by Royale, only in 3D.

Mifki didn't mention what changes were implemented in this version, so let's just take it for granted that it's better than the initial release. Keep in mind that the same warning applies: this app "may crash" PSP Phats since it has less memory available (as reader Metal Jody testifies). And for the convenience of first timers, here are the controls of the program:
  • Arrows - move, L/R - zoom
  • cross/triangle - tilt, square/circle - rotate
  • start - menu

» awesome

i got mentioned in a post. woo hoo! now i'm all famous... xP

anyway, didn't find anything different in the app (cause i'm in phat land). zooming into both poles of the earth makes it crash. no viewing Antarctica or the Arctic :(

» TO THE AUTHOR: Not supporting original PSP? You think that's really a good idea to cut off the majority of your users?

Quote:
Not sure how it will work on PSP-1000 (fat) because of less memory available, it may crash. I think next versions will be Slim-only, sorry, I'll have to drop support for older PSPs in order to implement great features I'm planning. Also not that this is still beta version and some problems or crashes may have place.

(I know bb codes don't work...)

I have both the original and PSP Slim, but I prefer the original. I thought this looked like an interesting homebrew, but I think you should reconsider programming for the original PSP. does 16MB of RAM really make that big a difference for you? Look at what NJ can do with getting 90MB Neo-Geo games to run on the original PSP. It's all about the caching!
