Ó

conversion softwareNow that the "Movie Madness" custom firmware known as 3.03 OE-B is out, everyone can have a taste of full resolution support for MP4-AVC formats. BelmontSlayer has just made a new settings file for the tried-and-tested 3GP converter.

As BelmontSlayer writes,

I went ahead and created a new settings file for 3GP Converter to allow 480x272 AVC conversions. This allows those who aren't tech-inclined to convert their videos for use with Dark_AleX's 3.03 OE-B firmware. Simply unzip the folder, run the program, choose your quality and convert.

Depending on your file size, it will take a while to convert them. Luckily, this runs on the PC, so feel free to play with your PSP while waiting for your video to be fixed. Also note that the readme's not in English, so be very careful how you use this.

I hope it works with this settings, I was trying it yesterday with the settings provided in the 3.03OE-B readme, but the files were always corrupted on the PSP - on the PC the movie was playable...

» There Are No Video Files??

Anyone else getting the above message when they go to play their newly converted MP4 files? I used the 3gp config file first to ensure it was using the 3.03OEB setting, plays fine on my PC but just comes up with the above on PSP. And yeap I've checked thrice that all settings are good and the folder they're in is correct. Just wanna know if anyone else is getting this or if it's just me/I've somehow missed something.

Should be in the '101ANV01' folder in MP_ROOT

trust me i did it and it works

is this a better alternative to PSP video 9..

by asadas - 2007-01-11 02:40
» 101ANV01

Yeah, with 101ANV01 it really works. I don't know why works with this folder... I thought it will work in Videos folder or 100MNV01 folder. Why with 101ANV01...

by works - 2007-01-11 02:48
» after i found out

that the generated mp4 and thm file have to go inside this folder: /mproot/101ANV01/

so dont stuff it inside your 'video' folder, but inside the '101ANV01' folder.

btw, after converting an episode of extras, the file is actually 10mb larger than the original....??

by I - 2007-01-11 02:56
» think

you sholad do this ms0:/VIDEO/*here* you can put the things needed for 101anv01 and 100mv01

» very true

xvid4psp is indeed waay better than this, it has the ability to add a sharpen filter, so the full resolution actually looks good...

please somebody make a modified xvid4psp for this new format !!!

True. Works now, was in 100ANV01 folder...

» 16:9 support???

i converted a movie last night (syriana) it is in 16:9 aspect ratio. the original avi file was 700mb and it was a 2hr movie.

it took 3:40:00 to convert (i let it go over night) i used these settings: avc 480x272 512 kbps 2-pass. my resulting movie file size was only 598mb and it was crystal clear with no audio sync problems at all. this is awsome with my only complaint being that the aspect ratio in the resulting file is incorrect. when i did a home movie of my kids which was in 4:3 aspect ratio the resulting file was perfect. is there anyway i can modify the .ini file to support different aspect ratios? it would be great to be able to choose this very important setting so wide screen movies dont come out looking funny (stretched) i don't really understand how to modify the ini file but i'll try.

» .

just press triangle when you play the video on the psp, than you go to screen mode and you select full screen, than you get fullscreen 16*9 on any video

i hope this helps, and this issue will probably be fixed in a couple of days...

» 1 Pass? 2 Pass? What Pass?

On 3GP converter, what do 1 pass and 2 pass mean? They both seem to play, both are in stereo, WHAT DOES IT MEAN?!

by MrSpud - 2007-01-11 05:15
» 2

2 pass is better quality

by . - 2007-01-11 05:42
» files are big with this

i just converted a 10 minute vide with a profile of 64k for video and 32k for audio, the video should be around 8 MB, but with this 3GP thing it is slightly over 30 MB, wich is outrageously big for this quality... its very strange that it does this, since i dont know how to encode them with any other program...

by . - 2007-01-11 05:47
» .

that is if you want to wait twice as long for the convertion ...

i dont like waiting that long !!

by pspete - 2007-01-11 06:09
» 16:9?

of course i know to push triangle and change the display settings... duh !!! i've had my psp since march of 2005

no but seriously, thanks for the suggestion but even when i change the display settings, it still looks stretched horizontally. i'm pretty sure that it will have the two black strips at top and bottom in order for it to look correctly but i rather watch my movies like that then watch them stretched out. i tried to modify the ini file but my movie still looked stretched. i'll just wait for other options to convert my videos to full psp resolution.

by . - 2007-01-11 06:19
» xvid4psp

if xvid4psp gets updated, wich i hope will be soon,

there is an auto-crop function where you can make sure that there is no stretching of the video when converting to fullscreen...

PLEASE UPDATE XVID4PSP !!! a lot of people are waiting for this !!

How do You setup the program to Auto name the files.. Its just naming them the normal file name instead of MAQ43121 Thanks for the help!

» where?

Ok I've put my vid in 101ANV01, and everything is where it's supposed to be, how the hell do I start the vid? Under Video on the psp it just says "There are no videos"

by GOGOmonkeyboy - 2007-01-11 13:42
» I was confused for a few minutes there

For all those who are getting no videos, make sure your MP_ROOT is on the root of you ms, not in the PSP folder and place the 101ANV01 folder inside MP_ROOT.

» 16:9 support

well i seen that xvid4psp has been updated. i'm gonna give it a shot and see what gives. i wish i could have a custom ini file for 16:9 support at 480 x 272 resolution. i like 3gp converter because of its simplicity. does anyone know how to make an ini file to support this? i made a txt document then changed the extention to .ini and it worked but it still came out looking stretched. all i did was copy stuff from this .ini and change some stuff around but no change in the results. i guess i should hit the forums for this maybe some one can help me there

by shrimpdude - 2007-01-11 17:47

Then choose "full screen" instead of "zoom"

by ryhan - 2007-01-11 18:34
» divx or avc

which will give me better quality, converting a divx movie to avc and playing in psp player, or just converting the resolution of the divx movie to 480x272 and playing it in psplayermt? and is there anyway to make a sound booster to get higher volume output thanks.

by nobody - 2007-01-21 15:10

Where is the devices.ini file? Please be more clear!!

by bubu - 2007-01-24 19:09
» one last question

well i see the movie in the list but when i play the movie the quality is great but then it only takes up half my screen i want it to take up the entire screen

by Daniel - 2007-02-04 15:30
» volume/sound

i convert and everything is fine...except the damn volume. i hook it up to a TV or my friends car stereo and the sounds is loud..... maybe cause of the amplifier? anyways, is there a volume hack or can i change the .ini to make the sound louder? i will risk bigger file size if i can get more loudness!!!

THANKS FOR ANY REPLYS

by Daniel - 2007-02-06 14:31
» re:

umm, do you mean when you play the movie then hit TRIANGLE then scroll over to SCREEN MODE (then hit X) to change the display size?
