It definitely wasn't planned, but the homebrew community is rocking this holiday season! Day after day, we have witnessed the release of one great application to another. Of course, headlining the pack is the Custom Firmware 3.02 OE-A released by Dark_AleX himself. Then there was PSOne Emulation and even one Customizer.
Equally interesting is the report about 0okm's successful access of the NAND Flash memory on Firmware 2.80 PSP units. This prompted and renewed discussions on downgrading the ever elusive 2.80. Kid101Skater of DeviantPSP announced today that he just came up with a 2.8 Dumper. This is what he exactly wrote:
Well, I just did something big... I just completely dumped everything on PSP: the flash0, flash1, flash_lower.bin, flash_upper.bin, and more... FULL KERNAL ACCESS... U HAVE TO PATCH SFO.
Well, this development is definitely big. In case there is is someone reading this and doesn't quite get it, this application decrypts everything. That means, homebrew developers can now see how things work on 2.80 and ultimately manipulate it. This, without a doubt, takes the community one step closer into downgrading 2.80.

just put the eboot and folder in the GAME part of ure psp and run it using eloader on 2.8
works with x loader but you have to SFO it

Does this mean that it will be able to do everything 1.5 can eventually? If so, can devs use 2.8 instead of 1.5 to do the upgrading to 3.020E-A(for TA-082 users)?

I, for reasons I no longer even know, once upgraded to 2.8.
Boy was that a mistake. I swear, not even a full day afterwards, 2.7 was cracked, and I was like: "*****!"
Now, though, I have hope. I have hope that one day, I, too, will be able to rejoin the homebrewers of this great world.

Im a kinda n00b to homebrew...Im running this at the mo, but it's saying DUMPING BINS and just paused on that for about 1 0 mins...wot do i do?

that happened to me too i just took out the battery and everything was ok....
when i checked the mem stick all the dumped files were there so i guess it worked
upgrading ur psp from 2.71 to 2.80 - 17 mb
hearing they found a leak while everyone said there was none(2.71) - a smash with ue head VS wall

yea, all the BINS are there, but 'kmem.BIN' is there, but is down as 0KB, so that one hasn't worked...any advice?

Once:
a) frozen on dumping bins
b) memory stick light stopped flashing
c) may want to give it a minute just to be safe
Press L + R + START and it will quite the dumper, files will be dumped on memory stick, there is no risk of bricking your PSP as this only reads the kernel files. Only risk is corrupting files on your memory stick if you turn ur psp off in progress... but thats the risk while transferring anything to your memory stick!
Now I havn't been around for a while, I just check in on this stuff from time to time, but since I have a TA-082 motherboard, I like to know before I bother grabbing the app whether or not it works on TA-082. So can anyone who has a 2.8 TA-082 tell me if this works for them?
Like I said, I'm not a frequent veiwer anymore, so if someone has already made a general "nothing works" statement regarding TA-082, I have missed it.

No this uses tiff exploit 2.82 and up dont have that

Reading the NAND flash does not mean we have full access... Pretty sure that you can *read* the NAND using the sceNand API in user-mode. Also, unless he's patched the kernel (which I somehow doubt), it's still not full access to all the kmode functions.
All this program does is use the sceIo API to read from the lflash device. This is 100% possible in user-mode. It has NO ACCESS to the IPL or IDSTORAGE sections - only to flash0 and flash1.
The fact that people have reported a 0KB kmem.bin file tells me something else: This is NOT RUNNING IN KERNEL MODE. Otherwise, you'd get the full 4MB file.
Also, the 2.80 kernel-mode exploit only runs if you launch it from eLoader, not from xLoader...
I've been having fun with Eloader and all, but finally,this could mean that 1.5, 2.71 sec and even firmware 1.00 can be ousted and Homebrew becomes the pinacle of videogames once again. Also, I think that eventually, even if it's just before sony stops support, they're gonna give us everything!

Imagine... no risk of downgrading and bricking. And really, if nobody is going to make custom firmware for TA-82 PSP's then there's no real point of a downgrader for 2.80 for us unless we go to 2.71 HEN-D or something. Sure a downgrader would be useful for non TA-82'ers that upped to 2.80. But I say still, use this to also make more homebrew that works on 2.80.
I don't quite see what's so revolutionary about this. The C+D kmem dumper was the only barrier that hadn't yet been crossed for 2.8 dumping... this app does not seem to do anything interesting at all.

had vice city since it came out, got fe dup of waiting to play it last week, so i upraded from 2.80 to 2.81
so i guess theres no hope for me at all now??

For the love god all that is not holy, stop freaking thinking about downgrading and think about making homebrew work on it so we can leave the less featured 1.5.. I want new features.
