The release of Dark_Alex's 2.71 Custom Firmware SE-B has caused a ripple on the PSP scene today, with hundreds - if not thousands - of PSP owners 'upgrading' to the firmware in order to have a combination of homebrew and all the features of firmware 2.71. Another reason for 2.71 Custom firmware SE-B's popularity is its ability to load 2.71 UMD's without DevHook.
Now, you can do even more firmware modification to your 2.71SE PSP with eiffel56's updated 2.71SE Customizer. Version 0.3b allows you to work wonders through flash access, enabling you to:
- Change your font
- Change your background images
- Change your gameboot
- Flash a custom menu
- Disable/Enable your Network Update
Now the formalities are over with, lets get down to business. The readme.txt contains instructions on how to use all of the features mentioned above, so make sure you read them over before you use the application just to be safe. This application might not look as good as some of the theme packs you can get for DevHook, but it's great at what it's meant to do.

so do all or most of 1.5 homebrew work on it?
ive got se-b had se-a and have 12 emulators along with a couple of other things and only 2 didnt work so i just got the 1.0 boot and wala
Is there a way to stop the current UMD from auto-running when you reset your PSP (other than using the parental code thang)
@frank rizzo: yup, just enter the configuration and recovery menu (hold R while booting) and enable Skip SCE logo, that will disable autobooting as well.
@ moost ALL THE 1.5HOMEBREW WORKS !! you msut install your SE-B. Start up with recovery (hold R) than you see configuration, then go take 1.5 kernal acces gomebrew instead of the standard 2.71 kernall homebrew and voila ;-). ALL my homebrew works, irshell 2.2, GPsp,SNEStyl 0.42, NES,Devhook (doing nothing special, its my dh what is used on 1.5), etc. So do that and Enjoyy your homebrew. grtzz
I have 2.8, can I "upgrade" it to this firmware?
no dice boss. just wait untill an eloader for 2.8 comes out, then eventually a downgrader/dater will follow, could be some time though

Hi Guys i want to know how i can make work this in 333 mhz i play GTALCS but see slow and monster hunter too and im a CheatMaster user the one you install in dh folders and i want know how i can make work this one or i need to use another program please answer that
This worked A-OK for me in SE-B for anyone thats afraid of a brick.
I'm getting a "failed to disable" error when trying to disable the network update...Anyone know why? I followed the steps to installing SE-B perfectly, the firmware is running smoothly. Everything works...Except this little option. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

wont work on a TA082.SE and orginal have diferent flash files
if you can downgrade to 1.50 it'll definitely work for you
this ***** bricked me while i was exiting!!!! i had a charger in and everything!!! and yes i had a 2.71SE B and now that gay recovery mode wont reflash me!!!
Ya almost bricked mine too. was semi bricked but thank god for the recovery mode...!
Im very sorry for my message, or atleast the part of "recovery mode not working" im an idiot i places recovery in /PSP/RECOVERY and not PSP/GAME/RECOVERY. god bless recovery!!!
well your not alone man cuz i also have se-b and i get the same message when attempting to remove the update icon...my guess is that it just wont work with us...i really hope some one out there proves me wrong though.
haha...wonderful recovery mode :D this is great but i don't see the point in changing fonts etc... i like to keep mine standard, even though 2.71seb isn't exactly standard :P i'm just happy i have themes \o/
Can someone please give me a quick guide on how to run apps (that i previously ran from my 1.50). Ive read the readme and fiddled around with the recovery menu. Thanks in advance.
@ Man, go in your recovery and search configuration and change 2.71 kernal acces to 1.5 kernall acces and DONE ! All your homebrew of 1.5 works fine and you must change nothing from the homebrews. grtzzz
all i want to do is change boot sound and the text, cuz the original are so boring! btw how do i exit the program? cuz when i was done i pressed home and thats what bricked my psp...cuz there aint a exit button anywhere
when the flasher is finished it will reboot your psp automaticly
i did it the frist time it work than the secontime it bricked my ***** lol o well gess now ill get a new 1 and just get 3,0

i tried this with a 700kb gameboot, now my gameboot is just a white screen. doh! i also tried 12 .bmp files for the month wallpapers. now i have a black background and no wallpaper. DOH!!!!!! what am i doing wrong? both the gameboots and wallpapers worked fine in devhook. is there anyway to fix this? not only that but my irshell2.2 is just a corrupted icon! ive set it to 1.5kernel. everything else works great though! : ) thanks D_A! also anyone know of a good 2.71 rco editor? thanks.

the only way i could find was to flash(recovery) to sony 15fw, then run the wad pad swapper, then upgrade to SEa, SEb.... Only problem is when i now go to Video Settings or Theme Settings or Character Set i get An internal error (80082718) and it trys to blue screen to reset to default settings... At which point i power off..
Works perfect, and I'm using 2.71se-b''!
whew, worked for me, although at first it didn't exit itself which scared me about to death, but then i hit home, and it worked fine.
