2.71 SE-C Quick Boot PRX v0.1

a_noob stopped by our forums recently and talked about his creation, version 0.1 of his quick boot module for 2.71 SE-C. Basically, this one will allow you to launch a homebrew of your choice with a press of a button, anywhere from the XMB..

The dev mentions that for now, all homebrew are loaded in 1.5 Kernel and he is asking you for suggestions on what to put in the quickboot.txt so as it could load on the 2.71 Kernel. The comments section is a perfect place to do that.

Anyhow, he said that this is not his first created program, but this is his first public release. In the future, a_noob also plans on releasing a homebrew game although he didn't divulge any details as to what would the game be about. Since this is the first time we're featuring this app, we'll hook you up with installation procedures and usage.

To install:

Copy seplugins to MS_ROOT or skip to step 2 if seplugind folder exists
Copy quickboot.prx to your seplugins folder open the vsh.txt and add "ms0:/seplugins/quickboot.prx" ( without the quotes)
Copy quickboot.txt to your MS_ROOT
Open quickboot.txt with a text editor and type the path to your desired homebrews eboot ex. "ms0:/PSP/GAME/irshell/EBOOT.PBP"(without the quotes up to four supported)
Restart your psp and hold r trigger while turning on to enter the recovery console then go down to plugins and enable quickboot.prx

Usage

Right trigger starts the first homebrew on the list
Left trigger starts the second homebrew on the list
Triangle and Circle starts the third homebrew on the list
Square and Cross starts the fourth homebrew on the list

how hard is it to just start the homebrew app from the game menu? I just don't see a big need for something like this.

You can skip the XMB itself if you hold your selected hombrew shortcut at start. Also as being a dev and working on my game i am always crashing it and i decided to make a simple prx to boot my psp directly into psplink(homebre w dev app) then i decided to make it read a txt file and launch other homebrew. So that others can use it. Also if you dont like it you can just not comment and not use it. But i find this pretty useful while deving. I know it may be very simple and not much but just wait till my dev team releases our upcomming game. All i will say is that it is in 3D. Also if you didnt notice this is the first release i am currently adding user set controls launching from 2.71 kernel and threading so while in a game you can push Start and Select to quickly switch back to the XMB. (like ir shell). So if you have any suggestions please post them and also this is comments not arguing about who got first because that is just plain childish.

So I'm assuming that this skips the splashscreen and logo, then goes STRAIGHT to the app?

Is there a way to just enable that kind of loading for all homebrew where it just does a fast load from the icon as long as the prx is active?

I guess it's no big deal but it would be nice to skip all that nonsense and have things load up fast and direct like iRShell

It seems like a useful app to add to the collection, now i'll have irshell and devhook on my left and right, and i've still got two other quickstarts to choose from.

I don't know about everyone else, but i have more than 20 icons in my homebrew list, so to be able to pick some out without scrolling for it will speed things up for me. I normally have a limited amount of time to use my psp during the day, so i want to maximise every second of it. Thanks for helping out.

on the subject of comments... before i got here there were 9 comments, of those 9, only 3 were about the app, the first of which was blatant flamebait. who seriously cares about who posts first. it's only worth being pleased with yourself if you're the first one to say thank you for the authors work.

Great idea, but it doesn't seem to work for me.

Done everything the instructions say, but the PSP just freezes on a black screen when I press any of the shortcut buttons. Any ideas? I DO have 2.71 SE-C.

Great plugin, but it is not working for me...

When I press shortcut button(all of them), nothing happens.....

I have 2.71 SE-C, all my selected homebrews are 1.50kernel and in recovery menu is quickboot.prx [VSH] ENABLED

I don't know what is wrong...

Ok make shure that you follow the readme it explains all you need im not sure if is compatible with other prx running wiith it but i dont see why it shouldnt. Also make shure that your quickboot.txt has correct paths all the way up the the eboot.pbp I believe it is case sensitive so make sure everything is correct and pm if problems persist. Also only 1.5 kernel is currently supported remeber that! Also im not sure about single folder games i will test but it is know to worl with all kxploited games i have tried. Keep tuned for v0.2 coming out tonight

and watch on the future for v0.3 and more read the thread in the forums for more information.

i tired turning it on and it automatically started helloworld.prx when i went to the xmb. wierd ill try to remove it and see what happens but hello world is my fail safe against theifs if a theif tried to steal it and i turned it on u cant shut it off after startup unless u disable the prx bbuuuut i really wanta try this oh and does the h-b half to be in one folder or can it be game and game% folders?

for future if there is any releases make it so x+o/x+square/square+triangle / and Triangle+o auto load cause this interferes with mp3 prx making it unusable and brightness mod. not that it aint already amazing just a user friendly upgrade. thanks alot bud this made my day

this doesnt work well with other xmb.prxs 271 autoboot mp3 hello world have had problems though mp3 works with it it is basically unusuable and with 2.71 autoboot it just keeps flashing a_noob like hello world does.

did you put the games in order like prx's on seplugins cause if you did it probly wont work just redownload it and change only the parts nessisary to have the game directory

it also could be another prx interfering with it. make sure u didnt downspace when u put the diectory in and make sure u put game150 folder instead of leaving it game

there are people not liking the config and such but just hang on i am like super close to v0.2 with a built in configurator. So hang tight custom shortcuts and built in configuratoor are on its way and im not sure why it interferes with other prx's ill try changing the priority and maybe that will fix it for you guys. So hang tight for about 30 min is when the next release should be Check the forums as they might not update the front page.
