Homebrew coders Xenogears and Becus25 is back on the scene to release their own custom firmware for version 5.50. The Custom Firmware 5.50 MHU is compatible to all PSP-1000 and PSP-2000 models except for PSP owners with TA-088v3 mobos.
To install the CFW:
- Copy the UPDATE folder into PSP / GAME
- Copy the FW 5.50 in the UPDATE folder and rename it SCE.pbp
- Start the application
- At the end of this update, when prompted, press x to restart the console

So, the 3000k is in the tag for what reason?
Does it run on the 3000k?
And what is the point other then to cause confusion.
It doesn't sound better is it better then Gen?

I am using 5.00 M33-6, do I upgrade to 5.50 GEN-B, 5.50 MHU or stick as I am?

Looks like all they did was hex edit their names in and accidentally break a No-UMD driver.
Recent events have led me to believe that DAX was right, a 5.50 M33 really is pointless considering you can flash the .prx and .rco files from 5.50 and get yourself the subfolder support. When it comes down to it, 5.50 is only good for PSN connectivity and to play the most recent UMDs, so unless you have your hands on a really recent game or you somehow have fallen to PSN, just stick with 5.00 M33-6, I use it, I modified the flash for subfolders, and I couldn't be happier. Besides, I believe that if M33 made it, there must be something useful in it. CFWs like these are popping up everywhere because people don't enjoy being a version behind.

I don't think I'll be trying this one. It sounds very unstable.
skips the version check. And theres a plugin to appear as the newest version to PSN i think.
I will try this out on my PHAT later this week.
There aren't many details on this so I guess that is the only way to find out what works and what doesn't w/ this version.
I wanna be able to play on PSN again, but still keep the ability to use my CXMB themes, homebrew, etc.
Its exactly like M33 except its more up to date! now i just wish PSN/Resistance worked with it :'(
But M33-6 doesn't work with PSN any more, right?
This make GEN look like crap. All my hombrew and emulaters are working in this firmware. It works perfect. Just use M33 driver to play iso's. I hope they make a popsloader for this firmware because everything else works on it.

It doesn't. That's why I use 5.50 GEN-A. I've had no problems whatsoever in switching either.
U3R is as stable as this and you can install U3R over Gen A 5.50.i installed u3r cuz on gen b no emulators would load.
CFWenabler 3.50 or 3.51 onward have that cfw anyways.
