USB Sliding Bar Software Mod

Shooting Memory Stick Slider modification - Image 1Want to spruce up your PSP even further? Well, LiammR and Palmer have created another modification you can flash onto your PSPs, known as the USB Sliding Bar Software Mod.

As the name implies, the USB Sliding Bar Software Mod alters the look of the sliding bar on your PSP's USB mode when transferring files. You can make it black, turn it into an arrow, a shooting memory stick, or even the words "USB" just by doing the proper alterations to your PSP's flash.

As always though, messing with the flash also means you're going to mess with the gods of fate, as you may just brick your PSP, despite all the care you put into reducing the risks. If you know how to find ways to unbrick your PSP though, or simply have the guts to try, then you're definitely welcome to try this application out. In the meantime, below is a video of the app in action. Enjoy!

Thanks to dylstermanster for letting us know about this. We appreciate it!

» Pictures?

It works fine and it looks pretty cool, but would'nt it be a good idea to inculde a pic of each bar, instead of having to flash the psp over and over untill you find the one you like?

» Nice Work

This is great much more to customize now.:-)

Only badside it takes some options under system config. away. oh well..

Wish we could use decrypted 3.03 .rco's to edit with instead of 2.50 ones

» stop flaming, guys.

Flaming never solves anything.

"noob," if you think you're so good, make your own mod.

Liammr, nice mod. Keep it up! I can't really say i could do better... wish i could. (i'd make like, a chainsword PSP if i could.)

by J. S. - 2007-03-22 05:50
» Oh, before i forget...

will it work with 3.10 OEA?

by LIAMMR - 2007-03-22 06:23
» well...

We havent tested it on 3.10 OE-A

try it, but remember to backup the original sysconf_plugin.rco first!

by MitchenX - 2007-03-22 06:36
» Awesome!!!

I've always wanted to do something to that stupid old bar!!!

Liammr you rock. Don't let stupid flamers hinder progress. They don't know what they're talking about. You've done a good thing here today.

by MitchenX - 2007-03-22 06:49
» the new breed of noobs

you are only jealous because you are a noob yourself and you couldn't code a string of text to save your life. stop trying to ruin our fun just because you're insecure. :)

by databoy2k - 2007-03-22 07:30
» Any Word Yet?

Hate to bug, but are there ANY reports of this working on 3.10 OE-A'?

Not going to lie - I'm somewhat nervous about flashing it, though it sounds like a great mod!

--Databoy2k

by Squid_Lord - 2007-03-22 07:44
» everything

everything is customizeable in the XMB except the music visualizer, there just isn't enuff space on the flash, you should really use RCO Edit and see the things you can replace

by LIAMMR - 2007-03-22 08:04
» thanks

Thanks man!

Stay alert, pack 2 is on its way!

by RaiderX - 2007-03-22 08:09
» Nice pack

But it's not like you're the first to do this..

by LIAMMR - 2007-03-22 08:10
» not a big deal with 3.10

we havent tested on 3.10 OE-A'

but dont be afraid to try it out, thats what recovery mode is for!

The worst thing that happened on our first few tries on 3.03 OE-C was that it froze when going into USB mode.

but that is easily fixed by just changing to a different one!

Let us know here in the comments if it works!

by RaiderX - 2007-03-22 08:12
» BTW, Just fair warning to those using this:

Using a sysconf_plugin.rco from a previous firmware version below 3.0 will disallow UMD Auto-Start Setting options among others

by LIAMMR - 2007-03-22 08:12
» .

Thanks!

by databoy2k - 2007-03-22 08:37
» Feels good to Pioneer SOMETHING

Ok here's the official word: 3.10 OE-A' Works, HOWEVER there are glitches. I'm running the Warping Star bar, and it's messing with my XMB. Weird new icons, etc. I'll e-mail you guys the specific results, but just to warn others. It does NOT result in a brick though, so if you can deal with some weird glitches, you're fine

» try this...

To fix the firmware version bug, try using the 3.xx OE customizer.

by Arto - 2007-03-22 17:41
» missing stuff

I have 3.10OE-A', and there's a glitches concerning the settings menus. In system settings the text is missing for several icons and the PSP crashes when I try to open them.

This happens for other settings as well, and when I try to open RSS settings, menu icons such as Game and Photo disappear until I restart my PSP.

by Apoklepz - 2007-03-23 02:11
» Great Mod, but...Found some bugs

I tested all of them on my 3.03 OE-C and they come out fine...there's a huge issue though...the problem relies on the custom rco file messing up some of the options in the system settings, like UMD autostart and RSS channel and Network configuration.

This mod is great, but you guys have to fix these issues!

by Salvatore - 2007-03-23 03:17

» 3.10 OE-A

3.10 oe-a isnt good

use 3.03 OE-C

by flamers - 2007-03-23 15:57
» WHY?

I've noticed some of you are randomly flaming liammr. Why? I mean, as an evilscarycomput ergeek, I must say that it's totally disrespectful. I mean a person has taken time out of his life to give you something (and it's free too), so I think that even if you don't like something, just say thanks, and leave it at that. It's not necessary to flame just because you don't like something. In fact, if you're going to flame, go flame the evil corporations, like microsoft, apple, shinra, and sony. They're the ones making money off of us, not people like LIAMMR!!! SO STFU, fellow NOOBS!!!

by Gus - 2007-04-11 11:18
