Here's a little more to add to your PSP know-how. tinmanx from our forums has just posted two how-to vids on how to boot a Fat PSP using a Slim Pandora battery. One important note though, as with all attempts to tinker with your PSP, you do it at your own risk, although tinmanx provides troubleshooting tips, and with those, he hasn't completely bricked a Slim battery.

Before you start, be sure to take note of these:
  • Never dump the serial, make a normal battery, or Pandora. Nothing else.
  • The only time your Slim battery should be in a Fat PSP is in service mode, with the A/C adapter plugged in.
Okay, now here we go. In order to boot a Fat PSP with a Slim Pandora battery:
  1. You need the A/C adapter plugged in
  2. Plugin the A/C adapter
  3. Insert Pandora Slim battery
  4. Remove as soon as you are at the service mode screen (ASAP)
To convert a Slim battery in Fat:
  1. Enter service mode with your Fat battery, run cory149's battery tool.
  2. Agree - press X (this is a must)
  3. Convert your Fat battery to any other mode, so the convert to Pandora option is shown
  4. Insert the Slim battery
  5. Make sure the charge light is on (IT MUST BE FOR THIS TO WORK)
  6. Convert it and remove ASAP

tinmanx's note:

If the charge light does not come on, or you create a dead battery somehow, just plug the charger into your slim and the Battery, turn all power save settings off, and wait. (The screen never goes off, and CPU set @ 333MHz) After a few hours, the Slim battery will charge. I have never fully killed a Slim battery.

To fit a Slim batt in to a Fat PSP like the one in the vid, you need to cut off the little pegs from the bottom of the battery as shown in the vid.

This works because you should never keep the Slim battery in a Fat PSP for more than 30 seconds. Don't ever leave your Slim battery in a Fat PSP then plug in the A/C adapter.

The thread is open in our forums, the visit link below will take you there.

Thanks again for the heads up tinmanx!

I used the 1.50 battery converter. I first plugged in the phat with a/c. Then started the 1.50 battery converter. And while it was starting, I swapped the phat battery for the slim. It recognized the slim and I hit convert to pandora.

Found that one out after my battery went dead twice...NEVER disconnect your charger while the slim battery is in!Otherwise the battery won't function for several hours...

I did the same thing. My friend tried to convert his slim battery with his slim psp and said that the mobo wouldnt do it. So I tried it with my phat. The slim battery wouldnt turn on the phat, so I used the ac adapter to turn on the phat, then just inserted the slim battery and converted with ease.

Made a quick edit of cory149's OS Pandora Battery Tool v0.6 for this method, You can no longer backup, restore the eeprom, or create an auto boot battery.

Come on, I have been using the Slim Battery as a Pandora's for other Phats in the past year... This isnt news. Also, u dont need to cut off the pegs on the bottom of the battery. It fits without and modification, you just need to put it in a certain way for it to fit in.
