PSP XMB - Image 1

I'll let PSP homebrew developer jojojoris set up the situational circumstance here:

Imagine: You are bored in boring math class. Your teacher is boring and the whole school is boring. You want to play a game on your psp. So you turn on your psp and then it happened. Last time you play on your psp you forget to turn the sound off. You hear the StartUp sound of your psp. The teacher heared it also and you have to gave your psp to the teacher.

Well, it's not that we condone you guys not listening to class, it's more of us trying to help you not get your PSP confiscated. VolDown instantly turns your PSP's volume to zero upon start up. Just make sure that when you turn on your PSP, you boot it on Recovery menu and activate the plugin.
  1. Copy "VolDown.prx" to ms0:seplugins
  2. Add the following line to ms0:sepluginsvsh.txt:
    • ms0:sepluginsVolDown.prx
    • (you don't have to add this line to game.txt)
  3. Turn off your PSP.
  4. Hold R while you turn your psp on again.
  5. In recovery go to plugins and enable VolDown.prx
  6. Close recovery.
  7. In XMB turn the volume to maximum.
  8. RestartYour PSP.
  9. Confirm that it works.
  10. Jump 3 times in the air and post a comment where you say that this has saved your life.
As always, plugins have their uses no matter how small a purpose. They may not fit your purposes, but someone out there will eventually find some use for it. (Don't be hating the developer - they're only sharing their work and trying to help others.) Jojojoris admits that a simple work around is to plug in some earphones, but as he states, not everyone has a pair ready.

haha

bout time this came out. now i'm thinking how this could be useful if the StartUp is disabled in Recovery... i don't even dare to play my psp in math class. xD

Got the wrong impression...

I thought this would be vol as in voltage down psp, so as to reduce the fan noise now THAT would be useful.
by m3rox - 2009-03-30 15:28:27
..

The PSP doesn't have a fan, so there is no fan noise (it's actually a quiet system). That said, what's with the useless plugins lately? I mean, all you have to do is press the volume down button, or even hold the sound button.

fail

you dont get it do you? the psp always stats up with the boot sound and that cannot be vol to zero AFTER it.
by Aphex85 - 2009-03-30 16:58:08
Nice plug-in....

But i'd just turn down the psp vol before i turn it off then when it boots it won't make a sound. Rather do that then have another plug-in.

AssassinWarrior..

The PSP doesn't stat anything. And like Aphex said, simply turn the volume off before you power off your system and it'll be off when you boot it next time. Who's the failure now?
by xkiraisgodx - 2009-03-30 17:47:41
wait....

couldnt you just disable startup in recovery? lol
by AssassinWarrior - 2009-03-30 21:47:49
yeah but...

but what happens if you forgot? Duh duh Duh, whos fail now? u

Why disable startup?

Just turn your PSP on into recovery mode, and just hold down the Vol - button for a bit. When you exit recovery, it'll be down at 0.

this idea

Who likes this idea.. pressing home actually pauses games.. i think this is a good idea as sometimes i do this to check the battery bar meter and the time.. but i ended up dying cause game play still goin on

Whoops...

I meant the disc reading noise not the fan sorry. You know that annoying noise it makes when you have a umd in the drive.

Easy solution?

Great plugin, and i can see its uses, but here is another situation... you realize before you do something stupid and get your psp confiscated, you pull out those headphones from your mp3 player and plug them in first! Then you turn down the sound and pop em out... Don't you love the technical work around :D Great idea though, sorry to make you go all that way for me to tell you that but its something that needed to be said.

your the fail

@AssassinWarrior A) the PSP doesnt have a fan, and most users who are able to use this plugin already abandoned UMD and went to another *ahem* format. B)not all psp's have a boot sound. its easy to turn off, and if not, if you start it in recovery and hold the music note, it will be muted when u boot @ eve 1 else C)good work, quality coding on the part of the designer of this homebrew, but its pretty much a useless waste of ram for Phat users. going into recovery will force the boot sound, disabled or not. so the plugin throws a user through a loop.
