PSP homebrew plugin: fx_powerspoof, bypass battery percentage check |
Ó
What it does is it tricks your system into thinking that your battery's got 100% juice, thus allowing you to bypass that pesky little requirement check! Demo video after NoEffex's release notes below:
The main use for this is those games that install updates sony-style, and require 75% or so battery, when that is totally unnecessary and a waste of your time, because if you run out of battery - oh well, start over, nothing harmed, as it does not flash a thing.
How NOT to use: During flashing(specifically flash0) things that require 75% battery. Not a bright idea. You can, but if you screw up, not my problem .
How it works:
Patches
- scePowerGetBatteryPercent to always return 100 via jr ra->addiu $v0, $zero, 100
- scePowerIsLowBattery to always return 0 via jr ra->addu $v0, $zero, $zero
- scePowerIsBatteryExist to always return 1 via jr ra->addiu $v0, $zero, 0x0001
THEN Unloads itself, so it won't make your kernel memory all lame and sliced up
Though fx_powerspoof doesn't do anything to harm your battery, there could be a problem if you use it while working on flash0 (see "How NOT to use" note).

...I don't know why,but I think that Custom Firmware updates had the option to bypass that...And it is the same as with the "low-battery flashing diode"plugin,when the power diode is flashing by default when the battery is running dry...
To bypass the battery check just keep pressed L button when you start the update.
That cannot be done in official Sony updates ( which I know you wont be using), but it also cant be done to bypasses the download of patches on games. Online games such as ftb2.
why did u write on ur screen at the end?!?!
and yea this is GOOD thanks...but i got the newest patch lol....NEXT TIME.....or i can delete it xD
Normally I would say this is a very bad idea, but since it's practically impossible to permabrick your PSP these days, i'll stick to indifference.
If you're updating through a SONY Official firmware, you wouldn't be able to run this, right? So what's the point?
All of Dark_AleX's updates can skip the battery percent by holding L+Triangle.
So I see no point in this at all. Anyone care to explain?
"+NoEffex"I somehow misplaced my battery and needed to install a game patch, so I cooked this up, and installed some patch without a battery, that normally requires like 75% battery, which is 100% pointless. It even unloads itself after patching the functions."
It's for game update patches not firmware updates. This doesn't work for any kind of firmware updating.
Even if this did the job ...
The correct thing to do is ...
Be patient.
Even if it took 2 weeks to buy a new charger.
What's the point.
It's not like you're going to save someone's life.
You're not George Castanza.
BOSCO
This is meant for those pesky Sony online game updates, which require you to have at least 75% of battery before they start the installation. The ones that install when you go to the online mode of SOCOM FTB2 etc.
