PSP Homebrew: CFW 5.50 GEN-C now out

It's here! The one that we've been waiting for and the one to stir up your lazy Sunday. Custom Firmware 5.50GEN-C is now out from Team GEN! This release finally allows you to install and enjoy all the games that requires FW 5.55 and 6.00 WITHOUT having to patch anything.

Things you have to take note of:

This CFW is for PSP-1000 and PSP-2000 v1 and v2 ONLY
The 5.03HEN-A will be updated shortly with the same opportunities

And for the much-awaited Changelog:

Ability to run 5.51 + games without having to patch (UMD or ISO)

Known bugs:

IRShell can no longer launch ISO patch but the patch will be released in a few minutes
La lecture des vidÃ©os 480x272 pose soucis mais un correctif est Ã l'Ã©tude. Video playback 480x272 raises concerns but a fix is being studied.
L'option qui permet d'accÃ©lÃ©rer la lecture des MS est en cours de portage vers le 5.50GEN. The option to accelerate the reading of MS is being ported to 5.50GEN.

*Brewers Beware*

psphacks has had it for a good amount of time now.. their users are complaining about it freezing psps. Some have mentioned formatting flash1 to fix the problem.

I don't feel like even installing it at the moment because I am too lazy to redo all my settings if my psp ends up freezing

Formatting the flash1 fixes the XMB freezing at startup, but i freeze when im trying to change the theme. Plus, none of my games seem to work.

Formatting FLash1 will correct the issue of the system hanging at start up.

There seems to be an issue with the M33 drivers no longer working. For ISO/CSOs, you'll have to use legacy drivers of Sony drivers, and even then, you might still be out of luck.

Hopefully we'll have a C-2 out soon.

Well i installed it on my psp 2000 v2 that had 5.50 GEN-B2 and it did end up freezing after the

sony logo.

I guess i couldve formatted flash1 but i didnt knw that..lol,

So I went da long way and what I did was use Hellcats Recovery Flasher 1.6 to flash it back to 5.00 M33-6 then I used this installer to update it to 5.50 GEN-C.

It works 100% perfectly now.

I installed the XGEN PANDORA first and updated it from 5.50 GEN-B2, it got frozen at the first time after the sony logo screen. In my second update it worked fine and my plug-ins are still working.

Quick Question: Are you trying to run CSO's or ISO's??

The reason I ask is because some people are saying that GEN-C isnt working with CSOs for some reason and when I ran mine they were both ISO's. So try converting them with UMDGen, hope this helps.

B/C when Dax makes a CFW th@ goes to a new level

EX: 4.01 then 5.00, He has to change up all the files in the new kernel to be compatible with homebrew and pops which is y GEN is still on 5.50 GEN-C. Dax is the mastermind behind CFW-ing new kernels.

Actually I just tried FMA and it doesn't work that CFW check thingy pops up so I still have to use CWcheat to get through and your right about the WPA thing it just kind of repeats connecting to access point then exchanging key information. Also Dissidia US works on mine and I'm using M33 Drivers. Hope they fix the Internet thing though with a patch or something

To Avoid Freeze/Semi-Brick, after you flash 5.50 GEN-C, instead of selecting to "Reboot" your PSP, Shut it down instead. Then turn it on and all your Flash1 Settings will be reset automatically.

If you have a UMD Disc in your PSP, take it out or else it will auto-start.

Well this is the basic summary.....

Problems: Freezes at startup, semibricks psp, CSOs dont work, ppl having problems with M33 drive, WiFi donesnt work with WPA encyption, some games fail to boot, the list goes on..lol

Solution: I guess just stick with 5.50 GEN-B2 or even 5.00 M33-6 for M33 fans

Thanks alot to the Yoshihiro and Team DAX for this release...I hope to see 5.50 GEN-C2 real soon.

MY CSO games work fine and ISO game for example FFD US is ISO and FMA is CSO also Disgaea 1 is CSO also. I tested these three games using the M33 Drivers so I'm guessing all of those problems affect certain psp models and motherboards I have a PSP fat model 1001

if anybody has alien syndrome, can you try it and see if it loads for you. For me it freezes at Please Wait... with Sony NP9660 and the M33 driver.

I tried God of War since somebody said it didn't load, it loads fine for me. The only game that won't load for me as of now is Alien Syndrome.

I got FMA working fine also as a ISO, but for sum reason CSOs dnt work. I have psp-2000 slim model which might be why this is happening.

The only thing improving I see about C is MediaGo, everything else you could already do in B2.

Seriously, game patching wasn't so hard that it needed its own CFW update for. Sticking to B2/even M33 is the best idea, unless you want to test things out

im trying to play the new 5.55 req games with gen-c (note: this also happend with the patched iso's when i was running gen-B) i put the *PATCHED 5.55 FW) game in my iso folder i go into my psp AND =D nothing...... ive scrolled up and down probably about 7 or 8 times and im 100% sure its not there could someone throw some ideas at me lol

I did a clean install. Flash install CFW 5.00 m33 then CFW 5.50GEN-C. Tested Dirt 2. I'll test Naruto and Gran Turismo later at home :)

It's really good to hear that GEN has once again updated their CFW for 5.55/6.00 compatibility without the need to patch, and even better to hear that they'll update 5.03 GEN for the niche group of us who want to use the 3000s.

And in case anyone starts bashing GEN and does the usual "z0mG GEN sux0rz m33 4 life", I'll have you know that I've used M33 CFWs before (on my older PSP) and had a good time with them, but GEN seems to the group to look to for updates. Hey, they made it all possible on my 3000 first, that's major, major props to them. And not forgetting Yoshihro, of course, who did awesome work with the decrypter.

I updated from cfw 5.0M33-6 to 5.50 GEN-B only to find that there was a patch to decrypt new games for cfw 5.0 M33-6. Oh well, I guess I will wait for the next latest and greatest release. I have no problems Gen-B atm. It's a decent cfw in comparison to M33-6. Everyone is doing an awesome job on these cfw's.

just take a empty txt file and rename it to eboot.pbp and put it in a folder called dummy, then put that in game folder

as long as theres something in game folder, your iso's should show up

why do you need to remove custom theme before using dc8?

its becasue this would happen think about it most people (like me) use a theme and that can semi-brick your psp if you try to update with it

thats why flashing flash1 works becasue all your theme settings and other usser settings are stored if you ask me people who got a semi brick and complained about it are just complaining because they are not taking enough care before they do these things

* Vous avez un écran noir en lançant l'updater You have a black screen by launching the updater

Vous êtes en Custom Firmware 5.50GEN-B et pas en B2. You are in Custom Firmware 5.50GEN-B and not in B2. Il suffisait de qse mettre en B2 donc pour régler le souci. It was enough to qse B2 therefore to resolve the concern.

* Vous avez un semi brick ("je n'ai que l'horloge...") You have a semi brick ( "I have the clock ...")

Vous aviez laissé un thème personalisé et il suffisait donc de formater le flash1 en passant par le menu recovery. You had left a personalized theme and therefore it was enough to format the flash1 via Recovery menu. Ne pas avoir de theme perso lors d'un flash de console fait partie du b et a ba et nous avions oublié de vous le signaler. Do not have a personal theme during a flash console is part of b and ba and we had forgot to report it. Rien de grave cependant car le Recovery restait accessible et/ou redemarrer sans sa MS suffisait généralement pour débloquer la situation. Nothing serious, however, because the Recovery remained accessible and / or restart without his MS usually enough to break the deadlock.

* Vous avez briqué votre console You bricked your console

just flash install 5.00 m33-6 then update it.My monster hunter cso is working fine and so is my homebrew and webbrowser.(wifi im using has no password).but PSN doesnt work and wont cuz it still requires the latest 6.10 cuz 6.10 lets you use more psn access(the minis button only would work in the 6.10 FW)so web,iso,hb is all i need and they all work on this CFW.i havent tested plugins and web security yet but ill post the outcome if no won else does.
