No, my memory stick can still be used to save our things up after being transformed to a "magic stick". It's just the battery not being able to use for normal purposes(turnin g on the psp with the battery will always get you to the service mode)

Use a battery that has been modified as a normal battery, just need to have the AC plugged in for it to work as normal...
