New PSP modchip around the corner?

Adding to the hectic day, we have news that there might be another modchip in the works, coming out soon. While not much is known at this point, the webpage lists the supposed features in the modchip:

Flash your PSP using the internal USB Port
No additional USB Port required
Latest ACTEL ProASIC 3 technology
Low power consumption
Works on all available PSP versions incl. TA-082 and TA-086
Custom BIOS with a lot of cool additional features
Easy to install
Just a bit of soldering skills required, no hardcore installation

A friend of mine did a bit of digging and found out that the official page is registered to a certain guy called Michael Eichhorn. This Michael is from Gamefreax.de, a German modding store/site. I'd say that this adds a bit of credibility to the claims of the modchip guys. On top of that, another source said that he had been expecting this around the holidays, but it might have gotten delayed. When asked if this could be 0okm's multi-firmware module, he was quick to deny it.

Another bit of info I noticed is that Gamefreax had/has been supplying Mathieulh, Dark_AleX, and Yoshihiro with hardware supplies. While I would have doubted the claims of these guys, the amount of info and links here point that this isn't just another fake, and that we could be having another modchip soon. I think we all know a PSP modchip is just useless, well only if you could unbrick with that thing, but otherwise the soft hacks are just the same

I never thoug about a softmod when I had my PSOne, but since the xbox softmods, now I see it's a new generation of chipless systems

BTW I'm getting pretty sick of my UP wich requires me to hold my [L] button every time I start my PSP cuz I wanna use 3.03 OE-C and my USB connector is getting pretty messed up...

And Epsilon BIOS seems discontinued...

WOW, this is great news, however, there is absolutly no point of this, with a solution to downgrading every psp to 1.5 and back to 0e-c just around the corner, there is no need for this.

When the U.P was came out, it was something everyone hyped up, but how many people bought it? very few, why, becuase we already had a solution to homebrew, piracy and the latest firmware, it was called devhook.

Now this hard mod has come out, but we already hav oe-c, how much more can you do with this device, not much.

The only logical reason i could justify this coming out would be for people who have bricked psps laying around. I am all for moving ahead and making the psp a better device, but i cant see how we cant possibly do this with custom firmwares.

All i can say is you guys are all a bunch of idiots.

It works. Its so unstable it has even bricked one guys UP Modchip and Fanjitas UP Modchip. The modchip is bricked. So no recovery is possible. But no worries, Fanjit has many PSP's, one for every firmware version if I remember correctly.

This is a bad time to release this because they are so close to downgrading 3.03 which means everyone will get down to 1.5 and up to Dax's custom fw's where you dont really need a mod chip because the custom fw's have everything you need.

I guess the only people who would need this are the ones that have a brick.

1. For fixing bricks.

2. Easy-ish soldering job, apparently.

3. More custom-ness.

4. FEAR-FREE FLASHING. No more worrying if you've screwed something up. Fixing is a case of plugging in the USB port now.

That happened to my friend, he was planning on using the new 3.03 downgrader since he still has a good 3.03 flash, but it's gay it says you shouldn't use the 3.03 downgrader if you have downgraded your PSP before and he used to have 2.71 and downgraded.
