MPH has created a firmware launcher that will launch a PSP firmware from the memory stick. This doesn?t have any solid application yet, but it is another step towards understanding the PSP?s firmware. Here is what he had to say:

Download [here].

MPH Firmware Launcher v1.0
---------------------------------

Allows to launch a firmware from the memory stick.

The firmware must be in file format and not in eboot.pbp format, for convert a firmware eboot.pbp in file, use the psardump01 tool [here].

Installation :
- For 1.00 firmware : copy MPHFL (in 1.00 folder) to PSP/GAME folder of your memory stick
- For 1.50 firmware : copy MPHFL and MPHFL% (in 1.50 folder) to PSP/GAME of your memory stick

Create a F0 and F1 folder in root of memory stick, put files of flash0 (data, dic, font, kd et vsh) in F0 and put files of flash1 (dic, registry et vsh) in F1.

Run MPH Firmware Launcher.

Limitation :
He is not finished, bugs with somes prx loading.

For the moment, i have test with a 1.50 psp to load 1.00 firmware, it works but the version showed in the VSHELL still 1.50 and the psp crashes if i run an application. Don't work for the 2.00 firmware because he uses a different encryption system. You can download 1.00 firmware in good format here : http://www.chez.com/mph/

If the guy manages to get 2.0 running then there will never be a need to upgrade. I mean we will be able to play all new games and use the browser and AVC codecs whenever we want. With perfection this could be the greatest breakthrough in homebrew yet, I mean if WAB actually do produce a downgrade then everyone may be able to have all new games and features and homebrew.

Still, at the moment it doesn't have much use but as a proof of concept, I'm impressed.

OOOOO MAN!! This is wut we want!! So we can shuv it in da faces ofthe noobs who say 2.0 is betetr than homebrew!! Son we might be able to launch 2.0 off a 1.5!!!!! Or maybe we cold rip the web browser out and launch that as a homebrew app...

So this will basically allow you to run the 2.0 firmware, on a 1.5 psp, and use all the new and improved features? Does that mean that all the security will still be there? Coz if it is, u'll still have to have the oldes FW to take advantage of homebrew/warez... Would it be possible tp remove the security from the FW image before running it?

Before it even starts, this has little application towards a downgrader... but it does open the door for 1.50 and 1.0 PSP owners to possibly run the 2.0 Browser or possibly even "emulate" 2.0's added media functionality.

Oh... and, um... w00t! 1st post! ;)

awsome, hoefully we can run 2.0 soon, over 1.5 and we can use the web browser, and other media stuff, heck we can prolly even mess around with the firmware, and add certain menus to it :D

There are other places to get Version 1.00 Firmware. I ran it on my PSP! Its a great novelty.

Someone needs to do a hardware dump of 2.00 so this method can be applied to it, giving 1.50 users a way to use 2.00 haha.

Homebrew rocks my socks!
