Yesterday MPH announced that he had successfully loaded the Grand Theft Auto UMD on a 1.50, and now he has released this groundbreaking application to the public. This program is the first steps in allowing 1.50 PSP owners the ability to play UMD games that require 2.0+ firmware. GTA is known to work as are a few other games such as SOCOM, but some may suffer from limitations such as the inability to save. Feel free to leave feedback as to what UMD's currently work. Here are the release notes from MPH:

Firmware 2.00 installation :
You will need firmware 2.00 in files format, use psardump to obtain it or my firmware launcher and use the function to install a firmware.

Once that you have the files, create the mphgameloader folder has the root of your memory stick and copy flash0 (kd, vsh...) and flash1 folders inside.

Loader installation :
Install loader (MPHGAMELOADER) like any psp application (PSP/GAME/) and copy mphloader.prx in the mphgameloader folder.

You will have the following structure of folders/files :

Memory stick
|
|- mphgameloader
   |
   |- mphloader.prx
   |
   |- flash0/ (with sub folders and files)
   |- flash1/ (with sub folders and files)
|
|- PSP/
   |
   |- GAME/
      |
      |- MPHGAMELOADER
      |- MPHGAMELOADER%

Launch gta :
Put you umd of gta and then launch MPHGAMELOADER

Welcome to the gta world, 1.50 is not dead ;-)

Heh, GTA doesn't load up for me. Never starts reading the game save from memory stick. Not sure if this is because I have the Cheat Device installed or not. Crashes half way through loading the game.

People, Cheatdevice does NOT work on 1.5 right now, delete it and GTA will load fine.

I have made custom 2.0 firmware so we can launch GTA:LCS through the game loader but instead of having the flash files taking up 30meg, i sized it to 2mb working.

Hopefully the team at PSP updates will let me host the rar here so you too can have a very small ripped flash.

You guys really, really, really gotta check your content. Did you even look to see what is in the source code file that you uploaded to the site? Or relink those Lenneth scans from the other day to make the thumbnails more than just thumbnails?

The "Source Code" to this is just a text file inside a zip that says:

MPH Game Loader

---------------

Source of MPH Game loader program, not yet available.

Version : 1.1.0

Author : MPH

Website : http://mphwebsite.tuxfamily.org

Really makes me wonder about the quality of downloads hosted on this site... I knew there was a good reason for going to the authors site wrather than trusting downloads from here (unverified/untried/untested - just posted instead) :P

On a better note, I went to the mph site and got this a while ago and am extatic that I can now use that GTA UMD for something more noisy than a bookend. :)

It is possible to extract 2.60 Flash files into MPHLoader Folder, so we can play lastest PSP Games that required Firmware 2.60?

(btw, the CMS drives me mad!

"Did you even look to see what is in the source code file that you uploaded to the site?"

My fault, thanks for the info. I checked the program file, but not the source.

"Or relink those Lenneth scans from the other day to make the thumbnails more than just thumbnails?"

The entire contents of when we were transferred from Blogger to the new CMS was an automated procedure. Very few of you can comprehend the amount of work and things that need to be fixed and attended to because of this transition. That's why news posting has been lacking over the last few days.

We apologize for older articles having their thumbnails broken. It's one on a list of many things that needs attention. It's these sort of bugs and problems that we could really use your patience and understanding about.

"the CMS drives me mad!

i could not comment for the hack of it til i logged out, back in, changed the article... reloaded the page, was another user??? "

It drives me mad at times to as a newposter - which is why my last few since the change look like crap and are plagued with errors, as was pointed out. ;) It'll get better as things get ironed out over the next week or two - promise!

"i mean, has this ever been tested before you threw it at your precious site"

Of course it was. The CMS was rolled out on the other blogs in order of traffic. PSPU was the last to get switched over - and the traffic here at PSPU is enourmous compared to the other blogs. There are some problems you just can't fix until it's in real action.

This new system was completely custom made from the ground up. It's a complex system of programs - like any programs, they go through revisions to fix problems that only arise after the product has been used in a mass capacity.

You can expect new revisions of this site and its software every Tuesday.

(BTW - the solution to log in problems and comment posting at the moment is to do a Shift-Refresh in your browser.)

# using .isosIllegal Machine 2006-03-04 19:47
Yea, you can still trick it with UMDemu 0.8c, and load your iso on system menu, fool the psp into thinking its gta, or socom, or whatever, then hit this one up and get your game.

download a 2.0 update eboot, extract the psar, use the psar prog to get the files onto your psp, sort the folders (this part sucks) then put it in the right folders for the loader

# flash1 files...still can't find themMattroid 2006-03-05 07:40
I've read the many tutorials included with zips, online, in forums, etc. However, I still can't find the flash1 files. Do they NOT come from the 2.0 update pbp? Am I supposed to copy the ones in my flash1 folder already on my 1.5 psp? If so (which is how it looks), I try to do so using File Assistant, but it won't give me an option to copy those files.

The best tut I found was on MPH's page (http://mphwebsite.tuxfamily.org/punBB/viewtopic.php?id=54). This is for the Loader, but I figure it's still the same. I followed those instructions to a T and have my flash0 files, etc all copied over. I just can't get the flash1 files, it seems.

Also, how many files are supposed to come out of the 2.0 update? My report says:

108 data files saved

0 errors

while the example in the tut says:

258 data files saved

0 errors

Is that from a different version update? I'm just making sure here...
