Forums have been hot since the release of OFW 5.03, when the GripShift exploit was blocked. There has been a lot of clamor for Miriam's homebrew enabler to be released, so MaGiXieN provides an explanation as to why the HEN is not online yet and the mix-up between the GripShift exploit and the exploit allowing access to the Kernel Mode.

MaGiXieN also addresses the most common comments that he's been getting and he provides adequate explanations for each of them. He pretty much said what needed to be said, so I'm just gonna provide a link that'll take you there. Follow the visit link below and read MaGiXieN's post on our forums.

Thanks for the heads up MaGiXieN!

Yea i read it all - basically there saying

Go ahead and spend 100$ on gripshift so you can play "homebrew" on your psp

But since there not releasing the kernel mode exploit for custom firmware untill a secondary exploit is found you wont be able to play PS1 games - ISO's or anything elese on your psp3000 besides the new homebrew that was made for the 3000 (little to none)

Here's the quote

"Possibly. The day it will be possible to put it online without compromising the access to Kernel Mode. Basically, the day we will be able to use another exploit than the one used by Miriam"

So we wont be getting custom firmware on psp3000 untill another exploit is found...who knows when that will be rofl.

And the Icing on the cake? - you gotta put gripshift in the drive and boot it up every time you want to play any homebrew since the user level exploit is NOT custom firmware..

(as a side note , im glad i bought gripshift for 5$ at game stop and sold it on ebay for 60$ - i knew this would happen)

I just hope DaX releases the true exploit to make Miriam and all those losers mad

Yeah, I knew this was the deal.

I tried to explain this to a noob a few weeks back on gbatemp, but all he would say is "it can run CFW, I've seen video of it running ISOs". Hopefully he's reading this :)

wow people are stupid...

whats the point in this whole HEN thing?

im sorry but until there is custom firmware that can run ISOs PSX games and everything else on the 3000 then im not interested

besides.. the 1000 model is the best because it can control things via infa red ;)

Considering Miriam left because DAX got angry at him for showing this exploit, I doubt DAX would release it "to make Miriam and all those losers mad"

This comment I think typifies this whole "homebrew" scene

i didnt mean it that way

i just think that unless a psp 3000 can have all the capabilities of the other psps then i dont see any point buying it

"And the Icing on the cake? - you gotta put gripshift in the drive and boot it up every time you want to play any homebrew since the user level exploit is NOT custom firmware.."

That's exactly one the reasons why I learned to hate the scene. We used to do this everytime back then when only the Liberty City exploit was found. The community was small but friendly. We helped each other and nobody asked stupid questions like "How do I run da ISO's i wanna play teh games for no monay!!1!"

Today every N00B and brainless ***** can hack their PSP. The scene is really screwed up now. Only intelligent and mature people could

run backups bakc then. These people may download games, but they are intelligent enough to buy good games.

And ,haxor is right - even the people at PSPGEN said the same thing - direct quote

"PSP 3000 does not have any improvement sufficient to justify the loss of the exploit and it would be absurd to close the kernel’s door to the devs on the PSP3000"

They also say if you want to do custom firmware as of now , to not buy a psp3000 and get a 2000 or 1000 series....

Well - in my opinion this is just like the Blue Tool battery

Showing an exploit thats not going to be released so that all these gripshift games would sell for a lot of money

And now the poor people who didnt do there research on this and just bought the game are stuck with no exploit except for a lame user mode one.

This is exactly why i am glad i made money from this - if you were smart you went to game stop etc and bought the game for 5-7$ then sold it on ebay for 60-100$

Another way to get people's hopes up then give them nothing - and like i said

Who knows when the next kernel level exploit will be........

Mabey NEVER

With PSP2000 still readily available and 1000's on the secondary market there is no reason to break the 3000. Even if they have kernel mode access, what benefit would we see? A Sony security update and further reduction in big developer titles due to piracy (perceived and/or real) most likely.

Keep the 3000's pure and lets see what games we get developed due to improvements in security. Maybe there will be some decent titles out there for the release of PSP2.

"what benefit would we see? A Sony security update and further reduction in big developer titles due to piracy"

You have got to be kidding me

Just because people have custom firmware does not mean there pirates - get a grip

And secondly Sony ALWAYS includes security updates(are you stupid?) - Regardless if the kernel mode exploit is released now or later it's going to be patched by Sony so there is no point in "holding it back" untill there is another exploit because it will be patched just like the 5.03

So this all leads back too the plain and simple fact that

1. There is no proof a kernel exploit even works

2. There not releasing it because of said "fear" sony will do a patch

3. Sony always does patches to security 5.03 is my example

So why does it matter if it is today or tomorrow - like pennywise the clown said

"they all float...they allll float"

And in the end , all of these exploits weather it be gripshift or a future one are going to be patched

And FYI anyone who doubts my claim the kernel mode exploit is not working

Go to dark-alex.org and read the article Alex wrote about the gripshift exploit being a user mode only - he even compared this to the blue tool battery - read for yourself

hmm.. this isnt breaking news to me.

@silver: your totally right, we're getting a bunch of pirating noobs in here now. part of CFW getting so user friendly is attracting the "less than intelligent" people in society. but thats the price you have to pay; difficulty of use, or vast amounts of pirating noobs.

if they come up with another exploit before releasing this one, then when sony block this exploit they can work with the new unreleased exploit, instead of being in limbo till an exploit is found

secondly the PSP-3000 has been cracked way before now

Exactly...

That psardumper was released quite awhile ago already.

I don't think people at the time actually realised that meant that unsigned code was already running on a PSP-3000 back then (via a user exploit and a kernel exploit). I guess it was just never explicitly announced publically that the PSP-3000 was already hacked (would've assumed people realised this by the fact of having the fw decryption keys for it in the last psardumper).

Good work on this anyway, it never hurts to have extra exploits .

is not useless, its a lot of fun to turn off tvs in class during a movie or at walmart while someone is playing the ps3, ps2 or 360

I have been following the scene since the beginning or at least since before the american release of the PSP. I still have my first PSP, and it has been hacked since it was possible.

I remember all the tga explots, Eboot loaders named after beer etc etc.

Phat is still the best, it's a sturdy sunovabeech, though I do with I had the extra ram, skype and TV out. IR is fun though I must say.

The scene is flooded with idiots now I agree, but that makes the good hackers look even better. You know they are doing a good job when Joe-McPiraterIdiot can hack his PSP.

I buy good games, and don't buy (or download or play) bad games. Once bought, i do back them up as it makes sense. Anyways, enough of my rant, and good luck to you 3000 owners or more so to you 3000 hackers, I hope you find another exploit soon. If I have learned anything since the beginning, it's that you will find a way.
