Installers for 3.02 OE-A and Devhook 0.51.0100 |
The one thing that hasn't been mentioned about Dark_AleX's 3.02 OE-A is how you actually pronounce it. Phonetically, "OEA" could be prounounced as "Oh Yeah!" Doesn't that sound like a fitting callsign for custom firmware?
Here's another reason to be in the "Oh Yeah!" spirit: Over at the PSP-Haxors website, Chaos Zero has released his easy installers for 3.02 OE-A and Devhook 0.51.0100. The OE-A easy installer lets you install the firmware and a recovery folder for OE-A, while the Devhook installer lets you put the latest version of Devhook up, along with a custom Eboot from Chaos Zero. He does make a note for SE/OR users, however: "To use DevHook, you must set your GAME folder to 1.50 kernel in the Recovery Menu."
Of course, before you can go using this to emulate PS1 games on your handheld, it's time for the ever-popular announcements. Even though it's an easy installer, you'll want to make sure you know how to use these things or you could end up messing your settings. This is especially noteworthy as the installers don't actually come with a readme, so check their site or our forums for additional info on manual installation or on using this easy installer.
One thing to note that if not installed properly or if you have installed custom files to our flash in the past, there is a chance that you might brick your PSP so please make sure you are aware of the proper procedure and any requirements before trying this. In the mean time, here's one last thing mentioned in the actual OE-A installers before you do anything. Definitely important stuff to remember:
Because this program writes to flash, you must have a 75% battery charge.
Once installed, your 1.50 Eboots will go in the GAME150 folder, 2.71 Eboots in GAME. This can be switched to 1.50 Eboots in GAME and 2.71 Eboots in GAME271 by holding R while booting the PSP.
Even if you do not plan on using 2.71 homebrew, you must have the GAME folder present.
The first thing you run on your PSP will be the "3.02 OE-A Firmware Install".
That being said, try it out, and if you need help with installing it manually and need to ask for directions, or even if you're just wondering about the difference between this and a manual install, you can learn more about the "Oh Yeah" Custom Firmware in our forums.
Note: Two readers (via comments) have reported bricking their PSP using this application. They were both running 2.71 SE-C. Please take caution and be certain its worth the risk prior to using these basic installers!

Devhook's always been a great app, but what would you need devhook to do now that 3.02 Custom can't or at least will have PRX modules etc to do soon?

It works like a charm! Don't fret if it "freezes" Its copying the largest file over, (I had that problem).

DEvhook is very cool.. i use it and i have 1.5 .. i always had cuz its the best.
what is all this recovery menu stuff about?when they make a downgrader for 2.8 i probably wont do this because i dont even know what half of the words on this page mean and also what is pxar dxar and all that stuff.although i am a 2.8 user se-c seemed a little less complicated to install when i read about it.(good thing im no a ta-082

you can try but it won't work. It will work only for people on 2.71 and under
U can't because u need to either have 1.50 or 2.71SE. And right now there's no downgrader for ur 3.01. Jus be patient for now.

3.02 OE-A is far prefect and run all iso with no problem and never crash on me. and i can run psx games and HB too with out rebooting my psp. and devhook is only need it if a new game comes out with 3.80 something like that.
What I need is a new DevHook that will emulate 3.02 OE_A. I want to keep my golden 1.5 FW and just use DevHook. :) But I want the PSX Emu too, Come on Booster!!!

There is no usb host in here right but would it work with an older devhook that supports it?
so i see there's a RECOVERY option in 3.02 OEA installer, does that mean i can upgrade to 302 OEA and back to 150 anytime i want if i use this installer? or is it really harmful to the PSP if i keep flashing it?
i know 3.02 OEA is really good, but i'm thinking maybe in 2 months someone will come up with something that only runs on 1.50 but not 3.02 OEA, so i'm hesitated to run the installation of 3.02 on my PSP

WARNING: this can BRICK your psp even if you follow instructions. i had a firmware 1.5 psp that i downgraded from a 2.7 se after some of my homebrew wasn’t working. i installed 302_BASIC_Instal ler_150 onto my psp. after launching the program off of my game folder, it finished flashing my psp and said MANUALLY RESTART YOUR PSP. I did this and next thing you know i have a bricked psp. bye psp and bye homebrew scene. thanks for wrecking my christmas Chaos Zero.

i did the same thing. installed it from se-c. followed everything and brick...i suggest using devhook first and then seeing if ur file works...thank god i found a second psp
I want to update my psp with this last Dark Alex application, but after your experience, i'll wait a little. its very strange because some friends of mine have installed 3.o2a and everything gone ok
After i installed this from Se-C i thought i had bricked my psp, but then i held R to access that menu and i disabled my plugins, then it worked perfectly, scared the ***** out me though
same here wanna keep my 1.5 I m sure they ll come out with somtn that can emulate the 3.02 OE A.................meanwhile Imma enjoy my new PS3 and wait for the good PS1 games to come out
To downgrade from 3.02OE, you just have to put that "RECOVERY" folder included in the download into the GAME folder, copy a 1.50 Firmware named "UPDATE.PBP" into that, run the recovery menu and use "run programm at ms0:\PSP\GAME\R ECOVERY"
After you run the devhook installer, do you have to run the firmware installer from your game tab? I suppose not since 3.02 is already on the list, but devhook just won't load for me. When I do run the firmware installer for devhook and run devhook on 3.02, I get a BSoD and it won't go away unless I quit devhook.

Ok, after installing 3.02 OE-A, whenever I try to access my System Settings it gives me the error: "An internal error has occurred. (8008271D)" It then proceeds to a blue screen that says "Setting information is corrupted. Press the O button to repair and restore default settings" in like 12 different languages. I just turn the power off and restart and everything is fine... but would it hurt anything to press O at that screen and restore the default settings??

ok i downloaded the devhook 0.51.0100, im running a 1.5 psp so can i run this or is it ment for 3.02 OE-A or can i run it. i tried running it and a blue screen keeps comming up and when i press circle it loads and comes up again. HELP!!!!!!!!!!! !!!

I don`t know what happened to the other guys maybe they started it in devhook or something. But i formatted my memstick copied the stuff with the installer restatrted it and got to the error screen and after pressing O and doing the initial steps everything went fine ! I got a black screen when I installed this, but that does not mean the psp is bricked. I altered some of the default settings in recovery mode, and it works fine.
(hold r-trigger when you turn on your psp to enter the menu)
This hacked firmware are dangerous, because it write on the flash psp memory.
Is better developing devhook, ti is only emulation.

Yes! you can always return back to 1.50 if you wish.
If you can get into recovery menu your psp is not bricked..
Running the installer to you desktop then transferring the files to you psp by hand is much faster.
You should reset your psp setting to default in system settings after you upgrade.The blue settings are messed up screen is normal after upgrade .
I know its hard to let go of 1.50,but since 2.71 se theres is no reason not move on... its like evolution

Anybody else get this problem?
chaos zero from psp-hacks told me that my psp was semi-bricked because i had se-c plugins (i had to use recovery to fix my psp). does anybody know how to get rid of these plugins? ( i think i once flashed my psp while i had 2.72-se with overclocking and mp3 plugins). doesn't recoverying back to v1.5 not remove them off the flash?

it is ok if u just turn it fully off and restart the PSP, it says error a lot because of languages not supported if u downgrade to 1.50, because 1.50 doesn't supports some languages like Chinese
my psp, i did the devhook installer, and when it completed, i went into devhook icked my umd & then picked to emulate 3.02, and when i hit "start devhook" it went to a black screen, and then instead of booting into the devhook firmware it showed the blue screen of death, i restarted my psp and it did it again, when trying to boot into my normal 1.5 firmware, i somehow got it to work again, but did anyone else have this happen?
Only the OE installer is. The DevHook one is legal.

ok this 75% thing is bull as long as u have the change on the psp going on it will be fine i have done it it is safe to do it with a lower charge than 75 % if the change cable is in and your psp is charging

I'm not sure what you have to do to clean your flash and remove the unneeded files..
If you downgrade to 1.5 and then back to 3.02 OE-A it should be fine I think.

instead of putting homebrew in msroot:\psp\gam e\ ,put it in msroot:\psp\gam e150\
and also if you start recovery menu goto configuration and then goto game folder homebrew and select 1.5 kernel
The easy installer for 3.02 OE-A how does it works? Does it just extract the files to your PSP or does it install the custum firmware to your PSP? Because I have DH 0.5101 with already 3.02 emulating and i do not want to f*ck up my loved PSP 1.5.

i downgraded from 2.6 to 1.5 few months ago. I've read that this way of downgrading is not 'clear' as it leaves some useless files in the flash memory. Would this be a problem for installing 3.02 OE-A? Or should i upgrade to official 2.71 and downgrade back to 1.5 for then installing 3.02 OE-A? Did anyone try the following: 2.6->1.5->3.02 OE-A?

hi, i've instaled the 3.02 OE-A and devhook 0.51.0100 and it´s all cool but when i run a game and load the saved data it says that the data is corrupt! i always used devhook with fw2.71-fw3.01 hybrid... my psp is a 1.5, any help?! ;)

I downgrade TA 82 to 2.71 -> 1.5 all ok. Can I upgrade now for what version 2.71 SE ou 3.02 ? What are the steps for upgrade now , now my PSP TA 82 1.5 is the same that a no TA 82 ???? Thanks by help.

somehow when i start psp it comes up red screen with words serious error, I can boot up holding r and it comes up recovery but how do I recover to normal i have no eboot files in recovery folder.

3.02 OE-A owns
my psp updated to a 3.02. is there any way to downgrade it again. im new to this. i hd 1.5 with some nintendo games but then this new game updated me and i had no idea what i did until i started reading on upgrades and downgrades of the psp. can any one help me.

After installing, it pretty much kept crashing my PSP. Even after holding the Power button for 20 secs and opening it again didn't work. However, on the 2nd time holding the Power button down it finally reset itself back to 1.50. Scared the ***** out of me. I thought I bricked it.
I have a 1.5 PSP that was downgraded from 2.0 when I first bought it a year ago. I have upgraded it since. I had devhook 5.1, bookr and Snes9x on my psp when i put the oea installer on it. After running it succesfully, I manually restarted my psp and in return I've got a bricked psp. Holding R does NOT bring me to a recovery menu. The only thing functional on my psp is the power light, and for only 8 seconds at a time.

Help! I have a PSP i bought recently and got a 13 games in 1 DVD but i can't get it to work. I have had a look at all the posts and to be honest i have no idea what it is all about..... anyone help me out or point me in the right direction?
i have devhook installed and working...i run it from 1.5 and emulate to 3.01 with umd file emulation to nfscarbon.iso...now it restarts and works fine...i put in a the sampler umd and it reads it as nfscarbon....i click it....it starts...the autosave feature is disabled would u like to enable....click yes...goes to load screen and feezes and shuts off....ne suggestion on what i should do
