GripShift Hello World and Sparta SDK v1 |
Ó
Now, before you get so giddy that you burst a blood vessel, keep in mind that this doesn't quite allow downgrading yet. According to the exploit's readme, "this is an usermode exploit and functions required to downgrade are only available in kernel mode."
Still, it's definitely another big step forward as it's been confirmed to work on PSP-1000, PSP-2000 (all motherboards), and the PSP-3000. You can run the exploit on anything from firmware 1.52 to 5.02.
If you wanna play around with the Hello World and the SDK, you can download both below. Just be sure to read the readme files included with each file bundle before doing anything. Oh, and check out the video too. Drop by the forums if you want to discuss the exploit.

Old school....downgrading xD shall follow
Yay! PSP-3000 owners rejoice! Foist!
back to the past ;]
Has anyone tried doing these exploits on the Euro version?
the PSP 3000 does not support 1.50 SOOOO someone will have to find a way to use the save game exploit to go staright to 5.00 m33...
of course it has kernel access, every past exploit was said to be user mode but you can get kernel access form user mode with the right coding, its just a matter of time
The sparta exploit will eventually lead to CFW. It's always been like that
The door is cracked... Only a matter of time before it's kicked wide open!
And we're still stuck on that.
I am glad those who have a 3000 won't be bound by Sony's crappy firmwares. Not everyone hacks their PSP, but everyone should at least have the option!!
the problem isnt exploiting the psp-3000 Dark_AleX has exploited the PSP-3000 before the problem is in the pre-IPL i'd say expect a HEN out of this once pre-IPL is cracked, pandora should work
MaTiAz and FreePlay! u guys r awesome! I appreciate the time and effort you guys probably put into this.
I'm really hoping that this could lead to something. Full homebrew support means that ISO loaders could run.
shouldn't be pirating
Sony has great firmwares. You do realize even on a cfw 90 percent of the work is sony's?? And FreePlay and MaTiAz, AWESOME work. You'll go down as legends if you completely crack the 3000...
RAN IT!! WORKS!! im SO exited for the possibilities. you can do alot with 24k of code or however much that is. even then you can load external bin files and when your done with them dispose them and load the next in a series. i think thats how the downgrade will work because theres only so much memory in the buffer.
obvious troll is obvious
expect a system update from sony any time soon
http://www.lan.st/showthread.php?t+1867+page+4 plus signs are equals as usual on this site quoting silverspring lan.st admin Quote: Originally Posted by JumpR Well, obviously... due to the fact Dark_AleX managed to dump the PSP-3000 decryption keys. Exactly... That psardumper was released quite awhile ago already. I don't think people at the time actually realised that meant that unsigned code was already running on a PSP-3000 back then (via a user exploit and a kernel exploit). I guess it was just never explicitly announced publically that the PSP-3000 was already hacked (would've assumed people realised this by the fact of having the fw decryption keys for it in the last psardumper). Good work on this anyway, it never hurts to have extra exploits .
It's already exploited. If they get cfw to work with this, it makes no difference. They can update all they want and it'll just be same as ever. Another failed attempt at stopping cfw :)
If sony react quickly, they might be able to patch this issue in a new firmware, and have lots of people upgrade. People who upgrade won't be able to run the exploit anymore. Not mentioning people who buy new psps, that will ship with a new firmware
Thanks for explaining it
If they get CFW working on a 3000, they may have pandora working as well. Thus, it wouldn't matter if lots of people already upgraded (+ newly shipped ones)
exactly what i was getting at
This conversation is horrid.
This will lead to the GTA/Lumines UMD price rises all over again.
i remember lumines being the number 2 item bought on amazon.com and the wii was number 1. it was like 39.99 what a rip off haha.
haha i havent bought a psp game in like a year.
yeah they did the same thing when the 3.50 downgrader came out, 3.51 was released the next day and i new people who updated and were really pissed off.
This is great news! but not surprising. The next logical step is to dust of hen and mod it to run with this. Once your rebooted with hombrew enabled its just a matter of figuring out a way around the IPL problem. Once that happens I would expect that pandora will be fixed and the need for gripshift will go away. Either way. Ill be snagging a copy today just in case something happens where pandora wont work.
HOLY ****!!!! The 3000 is done, its only a matter of time. The 3.03 downgrader worked the same way, with this the pre-IPL will be figured out real soon.
Even if you don't manage to full downgrade it, it means PSP3000 owners in a worse case scenario will be able to run games in a softmod. Thanks to the gripshift devs for giving us a new backdoor, and huge thanks to devs MaTiAz and FreePlay for a proof of concept.
That's a hell of a start to the year ain't it? : )
Developers should get some sort of award...!!!:)
Takes me back to 2006/2007. Ah memories with my phat. Everyone who called Freeplay "Freeghey, Freegay, etc" should be kissing his @ss right about now.
He's still an *****
so, is this a sidhe-door? :-D wakka wakka wakka!
So do I need to get me a copy of gripshift? If I want anyhope of my psp being hacked if this game is the key to homebrew?
If you don't update, then it doesn't matter....
