First thing you do is breathe. You might still be in a state of pure bliss since the news of a 2.71 downdater (downgrader) has reached your ears. Inhale. Exhale.
Second thing is to go over previous coverages of the 2.50/2.60 downgrader. If you've successfully got the first one to work, chances are high that you can achieve the same results with this latest one as well. The installation instructions are nearly identical since it's a port of the previous downdater, so more or less you're already familiar with the ins and outs of the installation process. Still, don't get too complacent, take all necessary precautions and follow given instructions down to the last punctuation mark to avoid getting your PSP bricked.
Last, is to read, understand and read again, the very informative article delving into the specifics of the 2.71 downdater before even thinking of attempting anything. Make a mental note of four PSPs getting bricked for gaming's sake. Think of your PSPs welfare, please.
Now that we've got all bases covered, let's get to the news. The same wonder team (Mathieulh and Dark_Alex) that brought you the 2.71 Downdater, has released a bug fix aimed at a bug that caused premature bricking if the hack to force the unassign/assign of the flash failed. They have also adviced all mirroring sites to have their files updated into this new one.

Some commenters keep insisting that this works on the 2.80. Some commenters keep insisting that it will brick your 2.80 if you try it. A word of sanity: until the developer says that it works on 2.80, it's probably a bad idea to try it on a 2.80. - How do I turn off comments by unregistered users?
FYI for Registered users: some of you have complained about all the spam (we're dealing with the worst of it but the comments are coming in faster than we can handle right now). also remember that the downgrader is scary as ***** when your doing it, so be carefull.
bcauz the tiff xploit is very unstable, this bugfix should make it so therez less statements. it took me 10 tries before the initial downgrader worked

I already bricked my psp with the 2.71 downdater.
This can only downgrade 2.71 and not 2.50 - 2.60? I no it isn't that hard to upgrade but that would be cool if it did work for 2.50 - 2.60. Anywho, on ps2nfo.com they have all the files for downdating including the 1.50 ones. Anyways, awesome file.
ug...I get so tired seeing posts by people talking about how terrified they are of downgrading. It's like they need their hand held as they go through the entire process, as someone tells them everything is going to be alright the whole time. You're downgrading a PSP, not having a baby. Fact of the matter is, no one is going to garauntee something won't happen to your PSP, you just have to take your chances like everybody else or live with a 2.0+ PSP.

This downgrader will not work on 2.8 and there is not even kernel mode in 2.8 firmware yet. If you are not bothered about losing your Psp and plan to buy a 1.5 anyway, why don't you just get it chipped. Not only will you have the best of both worlds, you will also be able to help Devs beta test downgraders of the future. No one has to risk bricking their standard Psp, there are plenty of UP chip users willing to help out as I am.

2.8 doesnt have kernel mode it only has the standard mode thats why they were able to make a downgrader alot faster with 2.71

Don't brick your PSP, rent games don't download them.
The only way to have a 2.7-2.8 PSP is to have upgraded it yourself, because they are not being sold yet, to my knowledge. In other words, we won't be getting a new wave of programmers. On the contrary, we will get a wave of new newbs.

why do u idiots care so much about pirated games? ISO launchers are not stopping sony from allowing people to run homebrew code, the potential number of bricks are the reason for the secuirty updates, bricks that sony would be responsible if they allowed the code to run. Patching the psp makes its noob proof and thats excatly what they want.
I downgraded last night, i had a 1.5 psp last december and upgraded and now im back and by f**k im downloading every iso in sight, ive got about 10 games each bought for around £30-£35, that is a f**king rip off and half of them i got bored of so quickly they are just gathering dust......now i think a reasonable price for a psp game should be around £20 and untill they drop to that price i will continue to max out my bandwidth to satisfy my unnatural lust for piracy.

It´s really not that hard to downgrade,
I downgraded with GTA, from 2.60 when the last downgrader came out, and i was so damn scared!
But if you just read everything in the readme, and remember to get the 1.50 files from a reliable person (or site) and doubble-check everything is were it is supposed to,
It should go smooth like butter.

A huge thank you to Dark_Alex, Yoshi, Matiuelh, and everyone else involved. I just finished downgrading my brother's 2.71, and it worked like a charm, once it got started (took about 5 tries to get the red screen). One note: your 1.50 firmware will NOT be clean, but a copy of the firmware of whoever you got the DOWNDATER folder from. Thus, if they have a custom firmware, or a firmware modded by X-Flash, your firmware will have all their mods. One easy way to remove them is to use X-Flash to change your FW number to anything less than 1.50, and the run the 1.50 Update Eboot.

I only had to retry 3 times before the TIFF started with the red screen, but after that, everything went perfect!!

anyway.... i used the bug fix version for my 2.71 and it worked like a charm 1st time no harm.
so i thought i'd test this out a bit further by re-upgrading back to 2.71 and then back to 1.5.. did it 5 times without a hitch.

i hv 2.01 and dont hv gta, so i wnt to upgrade to 2.71, but i hv read that 2.71 update works only on 1001k models. is this means that if i hvnt 1001k model it willnot work?

2) for all users w/a different region psp to the language of the firmware, it doesn't matter. u can still use the different language update with ur own language.

well i just downgraded mine to 1.5 and i have a busted UMD drive,crack noise.(didn't detect any UMD even in 2.71 ver.) i have some iso and 2gig stick.. how can i play my iso's in my new downgraded FW1.5...best iso loader that didnt required or asking for any umd disk??im just noob..

you guys can't forget that you should/need to use a sony card. it was just like downdating to 1.00. you need to use either a sony or 32 mb card. Also, why don't they do one for 2.50-2.60 for peoples without GTA? My bro updated but doesn't have gta. he'll probably go to 2.71 then down i guess. I would think it would be safer to go down from 2.6 then 2.71.
confirm you have a TA-082 motherboard, google it if u dont know, and 2nd, this is normal, becauses its unstable, so retry attempting to view the tiff image, and also confirm you have 2.71, not 2.8, for ur blessed and im not....but enjoy( gosh i wanted to try pvnc, n64, gba, pspsradio and all that) :

I Tried This and it got to the red screen and turned off after like 10 seconds, it just keeps doing that but i still have 2.71, any suggestions? I formatted the memory card and its 32mg and i have an american psp

one thing that i have run into is that once i have downgraded from 2.71, i cant upgrade back to 2.71, is anyone else having this issue?
i have just been informed that the new 2.8 downgrader is coming out November 14. the reason i say this is because that is around the time when 3.0 comes out and since sony only knows there flaw in 2.71 and not 2.8, they cant fix it in 3.0. and therefore, the downgrader has already been made but is waiting for release as soon as 3.0 comes out. be pacient everyone!

yea homie this the junk yo downgraded, upgraded, downgraded, upgraded, downgraded again. i just can believe this *****. My PSP 1.5 got messed up from custom firmware bcause i turned it off while it was flashing. Went 2 Walmart and got myself a new one and thank f***** god that junk wasnt TA-082. It was preloaded with 2,6 and for some reason, it worked. HAHaHAHAH and i got custom firmware. SONY KISSES ASS. we got through to downgraders for ALL PSP's except 2.8 and thats on the way because of that hello world that means that the tiff exploit works for the 2.8 right, so why cant that be downgraded is my question. i got 1.50 now...yay..lol well anyways if ur red screen comes up and goes away and then comes back on try again it takes several times but so fat theres only a 1% chance of brickage so this is the safest downgrader
but so far*
i got it to downgrade with no problem, went to scan for my wifi connection and it turns off...now when it turns on its just a flashing green light [yea i have a feeling its bricked, or maybe not charged all the way [shrugs]
just wanted to let the news be known, might be a remote case tho.
o and if your wondering why im not cuzzing like others who got bricked...i got my psp for 70 bucks on ebay...idgaf

Video it so that you can prove it to people!
Also give as much information about your PSP (Before + After) as you can, so that other people with the same PSP can be more comfortable in choosing whether or not to downgrade!
