Fanjita has emailed us the latest version of his Eboot Loader for the PSP, version 0.9, which allows gamers with 2.0 firmware to play homebrew. If you do not want to downgrade your 2.0 PSP every time you wish to play some homebrew, then this is definitely the thing to use. Please note that not all homebrew will work with this loader, but the list of programs, and other compatibility continues to grow with each release. Fanjita tells us about this release,

?This is the 0.9 release of the EBOOT loader. I wasn't able to squeeze in support for 2.01 and 2.5 firmwares yet, but hopefully this release has enough new features to keep you entertained while I work on those. Major new features in this release include :

- Added wifi support! Now the loader auto-detects if the wifi libraries are loaded (via the wifi load method above) and offers them to homebrew for use.
- Added call to application exit callback, to allow RIN etc. to save state when L+R+START reset is used.
- Added memory reset after running the menu. This should make things much less sensitive to whatever has been run before them. Can be turned off in config.
- Added memory reset on exit - this might make it easier to restart the loader.
- Added config option to fake success code from unknown functions
- Added clock-speed option to the config file, to allow automatic overclocking / underclocking of applications.

You can get the optional 'Choice' menu [here]. Please make sure to view the README.TXT file for full details of how to run wifi homebrew, and how to use the new features.

And, finally, a Merry Christmas to everyone - here's looking forward to an exciting year ahead for the PSP!?

If you wish to give Fanjita a Christmas present, visit his website [here] and simply click on an advertisement in the right hand column, or feel free to donate to his Paypal.

You can get it from our QuickJump Download site [here].
You can discuss this release in his official forum at QuickJump [here].

"Hes said quite a few times that he wont support any kind of piracy."

Actually, many of the games that can be played by emulators on this page are still under protection since the rights have been renewed, etc. Running anything on SCUMM and any Mario games on the SNES emulator would be illegal if you do not own the actual game. Fastloader would technically be under the same category as those programs. Technically, it is not illegal to play the games off your memory stick if you actually own the UMDs.

"By Fanjita: If you get the problem with the up key seeming to be pressed, you should turn off the 'ExitButtonIsHom e' setting in the configuration."

Thanks man, unofficial nesterj nes v1.07 works like charm now, no more "up key" problem in the menus. Fanjita, you rock! Merry Xmas!

Confirming that PSPRadio works! It's a bit tricky but it works like a charm.

You need to do is to have PSPRadio autoconnect on startup though, otherwise it won't work.

actually the NES and previous systems are legal,i believe there's going to be a remake of the nes coming out in 2006 that plays all the old nes games, and the system is supposed to be sold at sears and other stores.

most emulatores are perfectly legal (GBA emulation is completely illegal since nintendo copyrighted gba handheld emulation) so Nintendo protected the gameboy line.

Amazing piece of work, runs almost all tested homebrew. One problem is it bugs out with the controls i.e. diffuculty selecting things in menus, i press "up" it goes "down"

Nice job Fanjita, i've been with ya ever since the beginning, and every update of this EBOOT loader you do, is always amazing, keep up the good work.

**has anyone (or Fanjita) found out a way to use a different background for the EBOOT loader, instead of the Christmas one. Its nice for today (12/25/05), but tomorrow, I think it'll be kinda pointless to have as a background anymore.

Other than that, everything is great, so, in the mean time...

(listens to PSPRadio) d-.-b FINALLY!

The only thing that I would say this NEEDS still is a way to turn it off without rebooting your PSP. I hate having to go through the process of taking the battery out (the key combo does not always work). I look forward to more releases, though. I think Sony should give this their approval and help work on it, there is no danger of piracy and it helps sell PSPs with the promise of homebrew.

Merry Christmas, and good work.
BTW you don't have to take the battery out, just hold the power switch.

Nice work with the WIFI stuff, only one problem I found so far: When you use the NES emu (unofficial nesterj nes v1.07) it's like that "up key" is constant pressed so when you're in the menus choosing game / editing keys etc the marker just goes up all the time without even touching the up key. Didn't had this prob with EBOOT v0.8.5. Maybe it's the NES emu that's the prob, but just wanned you guys to know.

Yop, i got the same problem in nesterj v1.07 2b, that it's like the "Up" Button is pressed constantly, even though it's not touch. But it only is pressed in the menus. When playing games, everything is ok

WOW Nice job, I couldnt get the CHOICE menu, I think they had a bandwidth issue

But anywhoo, Nice job!

I like the new icon viewer..still a little buggy, but good idea!

And I like the christmas menu, but could you pack in the original for me? I know its the holidays and all, and I appreciate the gesture :) but I want to change it after christmas to the old one, or perhaps upload the TGA somewhere?

Thank you, good work!

If you get the problem with the up key seeming to be pressed, you should turn off the 'ExitButtonIsHom e' setting in the configuration.

See the readme.txt file for details.

This didn't work for me. When I select an app, the PSP simply locks up or reboots. After this happens, even though I have 2.0 firmware, it tells me I have 1.0! This means I can't play any 2.0-required games! HELP!

Can anyone confirm the latest version of PSPRadio working with the loader? It's the only reason i'm still at 1.5.

Keep up the great work Fanjita. It's much appreciated. Merry Christmass and Happy New Years to all y'all :)

There is a list in the readme of wi-fi apps that still do not work completely in this version = including PSPradio:

EBOOTs with partial progress made in this release:
- Various kernel mode apps
- Various wifi apps:
PVNC
PSPRadio
Wifi Jukebox
PSP Weather

I was hoping for Portable VNC, but thanks for the Christmas Release Fanjita =]. How about luaplayer, I wonder if we'll get it to work for this version. merry christmas all----Lofter
