Fanjita's slice of homebrew heaven - PSP firmware 3.50 Downgrader out NOW!!! |

Just a few days after announcing that they managed to sniff out the Illuminati exploit for PSP firmware 3.50, the Noobz team is letting the community know they've hit pay dirt - the firmware 3.50 firmware downgrader is here! Now we can all have a slice of homebrew-heaven as this'll allow all commercial Sony firmwares to be downgradable back to firmware 1.50 - the gateway to Dark Alex's Custom Firmwares.
The team further notes that the downgrader is for firmware 3.50 - which means those wanting to downgrade must upgrade to the said firmware first. Fanjita's downgrader includes a port of Homebrew ENabler (HEN) for firmware 3.50 which will automatically detect existing PSP motherboards, and will take the proper steps for the downgrade. As a recap, the Noobz team advises users to have the following ready:
- A PSP, upgraded to the official Sony v3.50 firmware. You should also set your language settings to "English".
- A legal Lumines UMD, either the EU (ULES00043) or US (ULUS10002) version. The original, Platinum, or Greatest Hits versions are all fine. Support for the Japanese version will come soon.
- Sufficient intelligence and english language skills to be able to carefully and thoroughly read the instructions.
- It would also help if you've previously run the Illuminati Hello World, so that you're familiar with how to run the Illuminati exploit.
- Any downgrader carries some risk of permanently damaging your PSP. We've done everything we can to remove as much danger as possible, but if you choose to use this downgrader, you are accepting all of the risk involved. Nobody else will be held responsible for any damage to your PSP, howsoever caused.
- Recent Sony official firmwares (3.30 onwards) have included checks that block upgrade from previously-downgraded PSPs with TA-082 or later motherboards. If you use this downgrader on such a PSP, you will lock yourself out of official firmware updates - although you will still be able to use new OE firmwares when they are released. We intend to release a tool to allow a return to official firmwares in the future.
- This software is provided free of charge, so that you can use legitimate homebrew on your PSP. You are explicitly prohibited from selling it, or using it to pirate commercial games or applications. If you want to play a commercial game, do the decent thing and support the developers by buying it. If you don't, then YOU are contributing to the death of the PSP software industry.
Also, this groundbreaking exploit was made possible thru the aid of many figures in the PSP homebrew scene. Fanjita wishes to give credit to the following:
- Everyone who has contributed to the ps2dev.org toolchain, without which none of the Noobz software would ever have been possible
- Archaemic for his original input into the Illuminati exploit
- Dark_AleX and Mathieulh, for their work on custom firmwares, HEN and the downgrader core
- The various websites who continue to develop and support the homebrew community. You know who you are, and we're not going to stir up site politics by mentioning any specific sites.

Last time I missed out on cashing in on the exploit, so many copies of GTA sold and I missed it.
Anyways I'm glad for this exploit, people can now buy a new PSP and end up with a completely homebrew compatible one.

BTW, WAY TO GO!! IM FREAKIN SHOCKED AT HOW SIMPLE AND EASY TO GET A GAME. the game is rated E to that way everyone can downgrade unlike the m ratings which lmited some people. plus its a win-win situation. we get downgrades and homebrew and the devs of the game get sales increase. nothing to lose....yet.
If you have a TA-082 or TA-086 motherboard and downgrade, the IPL keys become corrupted and you can only upgrade once from 1.50. If you do not run a fix EBOOT prior to upgrading again to an official higher firmware, you'll only be able to do so once, but any attempts of future upgrades will fail.

I don't want to sound like an idiot here but if anyone has successfully done this can you help me out a bit? I have 3.50 HEN and I'm attempting to downgrade to 1.5. I made a copy of the EBOOT.PBP file and renamed it UPDATE.PBP, then added the renamed file back into the PSP/GAME/UPDATE file (yes i have the original EBOOT.PBP in there still). Now when i run the Ver X.YZ update it does everything as it should but says: "Error decrypting DATA.PSP - Check UPDATE.PBP is valid update EBOOT" What am I doing wrong??

in the downgrade specifies if you have TA82+ you can't update to 3.30+ sony firmwares. Does it apply to custom firmwares too? cause i don't want to keep 1.5.

sounds like you renamed the EBOOT.PBP that came with the downgrader, your suppose to rename the 1.50 update EBOOT.PBP to UPDATE.PBP and copy it to PSP/GAME/UPDATE

It fine to upgrade to any custom firmware, just stay away from Official Sony firmware now, which would defeat the purpose of downgrading anyways so go ahead with any custom firmware you choose from now until forever ...

i was so happy when this downgrader came out, i was at 3.40 an hour before i came on this site it said it might be a couple of days weeks, or months and i was just happy that they had found an exploit , but then an hour later i came on and read in big bold letters, 3.50 DOWNGRADER IS HERE, after that went to a video rental store, Upgraded to 3.50 , downgraded to 1.5 , back up to 3.03 OE-C and here i am picking out custom backgrounds themes and playing my favourite ps1 games, that just makes me wanna jump for joy. GREAT JOB n00bz team !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does anyone one know how to identifythe motherboard of a PSP? I know that I don't have a TA-82, and I bought my PSP 6 month after it's release in Europe, so theoretically I'm save since I want to have the ability to revert back to the official firmgrade. Can some one confirm if I'm save or not?

I'M @ 1.5 HOW DO I GET CFW ON PSP
I just tried this on a 2.81 FW PSP with the original MotherBoard . It worked seamlessly and without any problems. I downgraded to 1.5 installed the 1.5 recovery and then upgraded to 3.40 OE firmware. All is well. Thanks alot.

If you want to know how to install a custom firmware from 1.5, just look in in the qj forums which has tons of guides already, so I AM not going to tell you how to do it dammit.

i downgraded my 2.80 to 1.50 then upgraded to 3.10 now i cant upgrade to 3.50. can i downgrade my 3.10 with the 3.50 downgrader?
its great that there is a downgrader but im still stuck on 3.11
you must have done something wrong. I have seen this prog work too many times with no brick.

Our original supply of a Japanese UMD fell through, so we're working on getting another copy at the moment.
Whilst I believe the new downgrader is good for the homebrewers amongst us, I don't believe it is as good for the software devs as some may think.
First of all, those losers who are selling Lumines on eBay at $100USD plus, its almost worse than piracy itself. These bastards are profiteering on the back of the software devs work for none of which they have contributed to period. All they have done is bought the game cheap and jack the value up so some ass would pay stupid amounts of money for an ok sort of game.
Maybe this could be a good business plan for $ony, release an "unhackable" update, then release a game with an exploit to hack it and make millions from the idiots who pay stupid amounts of money for it.
As for me, I have two PSPs with 3.40OE and another which has 3.30 official (is actually my sister's boyfriends PSP which he foolishly updated) which needs a downgrading. I am just going to sit a couple of weeks and watch the value of it drop. Which it will, because once more people are running OE, more are going to sell their copies of Lumines at next door to bugger all. That will be the time to buy.

My parents have bought me Lumines for 14,99$ this afternoon. So my PSP was 3.1 (thanks to Sony... because my old PSP was bricked and they have exchanged it XD) and I tried this. It has worked. My system is now at the firmware 1.5 and trust me, that's NICE!!!

you need to go to 1.5 first in order to install custom firmwares
I followed a youtube video of the Lumines exploit exactly and everything seemed to be working. I checked for 3.50 HEN and then went to PSP Update ver X.YZ. It then says "extracting special prx's from pbp" and "cannot find UPDATE.PBP. I did everything i needed to do. Formatted my memory stick, changed the eboot.pbp to UPDATE.PBP and so on. Anyone else have this prob? I need help!

I dloaded the v3.50 eboot from the qj net download page and followed the instructions carefully.
However, when I press X on the screen, just before it says 'PSP UPDATE VERSION 3.50', a grey page pops up on my psp saying I don't have the necessary settings for my psp to continue updatins.

i have a previous 3.40 oe-a firmware then suddenly i want to test the 3.50 downgrader. i have a original copy of the lumines so i want to try it. what happpen is i recovered back to 1.50 then i want to upgrade to 3.50 but it said that there is a problem in upgrading now i'm stuck with 3.10 official firmware. now can anybody tell me what to do!!!iany suggestion will make me appreciate it....

well my friend had 3.50 and he said "look i no ur good with computers so downgrade my psp" and i did it worked like a charm now he does watever i want him to lol it works very well with little to worry about once uve done about 3 times
well u need to update to 3.50 not anything higher or lower it has to be 3.50 then u can dowgrade then once ur downgraded to 1.50 u can install custom firmware
