Fanjita and Ditlew Retiring?!

In what seems like one of those shocking moments for the PSP Homebrew scene, Fanjita has decided to quit the Homebrew Scene!

The message which comes up on his website :

"Following recent announcements about movie studios ditching the PSP, and after months and months of battling to bring homebrew to a console whose makers obviously don't want it, we decided that it's time to throw in the towel.

Therefore, as of now, there will be no more eLoader releases. Sorry. I know this may seem sudden, but it's been coming for a long time, our enthusiasm for the PSP has been slowly dwindling over the past couple of months.

The final nail in the coffin was spending the last few weeks trying to break a leaked copy of the v3.0 firmware release. Sony have done a really good job on this one, and we've given up hope of being able to crack it. Not even the GTA exploit works - it seems that Sony are really serious about security this time, and it's depressing. The slog ahead to try to crack what amounts to a total rewrite of the firmware just doesn't seem worth it. Good luck to anyone who does decide to try.

I've decided to move to develop for the Gizmondo, a console that has been neglected for homebrew, but where the battle isn't quite so unrelenting. Work has begun on an eLoader for the Gizmondo, allowing the same rich homebrew platform that PSP owners have grown to love. Some people will ask, "Surely the GP2X would be a better choice?", but I've always said that the GP2X doesn't offer any sort of a challenge. Sorry guys, but the Gizmondo really needs some loving...

Ditlew has decided to focus his talents on furthering the burgeoning Xbox360 hacking scene.

And seeing how Gizmondo has been in the dumps lately, I feel that they can use Fanjita's help to actually make something worthwile out of the handheld. Fanjita has made it known in the past that he would probably never go to GP2X development because its so easy. That's why he chose Gizmondo, because he often gets begged to help out their homebrew scene.

So on behalf of all the community, I'd like to thank Fanjita for all his hard-work. Fanjita, you can leave the community knowing that none of your hard-work has gone in vain. I'm sure the community here at PSPUpdates feel the same way.

Unlike what most of our readers think, this matter is a lot more serious. I just noticed this : eLoader is no more, in our forums.
Plus, the eLoader forum has been closed down. It hardly looks like an April Fools' Joke.

I don't know. I really doubt this is a joke. But you never know. But then again, people also thought the release of Choice+ today was gonna be a joke, but it's out! Anyways, if it is not a joke, Fanjita, yuour awsome man. You've contributed a lot to everyone, and if you want to retire than you can leave with our respect.

My take on this.

I don't use Fanjita's software (since I have a downgraded 1.50 white PSP).

If this is an April Fools joke, its a damn good one (as he's managed to ruffle the feathers of the PSP homebrew community) and the whole point of a AF's joke is to ruffle the feathers.

If it isn't, good luck Fanjita in whatever you decide to do (be it Gizmondo, or whatever).

Irregardless, the moment Fanjita and Ditlew leave the PSP homebrew scene it will be a major loss to many people. As one who recently updated to version 2.6 I will be depending on his GTA EBOOT loader for awhile.

That is, until I am given good enough reason to take my first PSP out of retirement and fix it, like perhaps a 3D emulator that does not work using the GTA exploit or an exploit that will allow people to run all 2.6 games on a 1.5 PSP. IF this is all true and F&D have left the scene and no one else has success of hacking future firmware releases then the psp will fail and be shelved with the old Beta and Betamax. It is sad that SONY is making it so hard to allow homebrew. They couldn't be losing THAT much money over the whole ordeal :-S . But On the other hand. it would be fair that Gizmodo gets some homebrew. Maybe then SONY will realize how much of a mistake it is to disallow it when Gizmodo sells more product than them

Until I have an official word from the mouth of Fanjita or Ditlew confirming this is NOT a joke, im keeping an open mind about this. Nobody knows for sure, and the people who do can't prove it... C'mon April 2nd. If it is true, then they picked the SINGLE WORST day in the ENTIRE year to annouce it... its the only day when you can't take anything seriously on the internet. Also if its true, I can fully sympathise with Fanjita and Ditlew for their hard non-profit work for us all. They did all this for us and not themselves. Worker of sony speaking again , in one of the posts that was a week ago there was something about Nvidia contract and in addition I told you that 3.0 is almost impossible to crack and I told you the reason , somehow we heard at our offices that when the update is done the previous codes are rewritten in a way that the psp is not bricked but makes it impossible to load an iso even with future technology but we've heard that it can run homebrew but it is almost impossible to make an e-loader for 3.0 with present software , yet I don't beleive that sony CEO sent a copy of firmware version 3.0 because it's still in developing process and sendidng unfinished work can easily be experimented with to make any hacks to it so sony wouldn't do that , yes , this is a joke done by fanjita and we can guarantee there is no way of getting any leeked copies of the new firmware bacause it's still in development and it's not done yet and won't be done before May ( and may even take up to 4 months ).
