Easy 2.50/2.60 Downgrader Released! |

Xtrusion, a Spanish coder from our forums has released an Easy Downgrader for those users on PSP firmware 2.5/2.6 that have not downgraded yet. It's easy to use, safe, and best of all doesn't modify any of the original downgrader files. This Easy Downgrader users the original downdater from Dark_Alex, Mathieulh and Yoshihiro from SonyXTeam and comes in the form of an executable with a great GUI. Every step of the downgrade process is shown in images from finding out whether your PSP has a TA-082 motherboard to using the eLoader.
A voice will explain to you how to do things along with text, and the automatic installer will install all the files required to downgrade for even the biggest PSP homebrew newbies. The only files that are missing from this version are the downdater files which you must obtain from a firmware 1.5 user. Here's what they need to do:
- Copy the folders downhelper and downhelper% from the folder 1.50 HELPER folder to /PSP/GAME/ in your memstick.
- Obtain the 1.50 update EBOOT and put it in /PSP/GAME/UPDATE in your memstick. You may find the 1.50 update in our download site here.
- Init the downhelper program.
- It will dump your flash and some files from the updater eboot to the memstick. (These files are illegal under US copyright laws, so please do not distribute them in the comments or on our forums)
- After that, the program will exit. You can now delete the updater from /PSP/GAME/UPDATE
- You'll notice that you have a new folder in the root of your memstick called "DOWNDATER".
- That's the folder you'll have to send to a 2.50/2.60 to let them test the downgrade.
NOTE: Please do not link to sites that may host the 1.5 firmware files in the comments.

This is great but how do you downgrade a 2.01 firmware psp ?
upgrade your 2.01 to 2.50 or 2.60 then downgrade it. Make sure u dont upgrade to 2.7+!!!!!!!!!!!
by first upgrading to 2.5/2.6

this easy downdater looks more complicated than the original! it's sooooooooooooo easy to downgrade - hope this gets more 1.5ers at least - the more of them the higher the demand for quality homebrew

I hope the talented dev'ers find a way. There are only so many Original GTA LCS's flying around. I guess I'l just have to cross my fingers and hope I find one.
BTW, anybody know how I can spot originals without having to ask the store clerks? any date or sign in the packaging that would tell me i found an original GTA UMD that would work with this?

I have a V1.5 psp and a V2.0
I want to down the V2.0 to V1.5 but to do it i need the charger pluged in and my V2.0 psp charge fuse has gone so i cannot downgrade useing the old way, So QUESTION do you need the charger pluged in with this downgrader?

Do your own research before running this or the original downgrader OR RISK A BRICK!
The following instruction is wrong (in the ez downgrader guide): After initialising the downgrader and wait for a minute, then hold the reset button to restart your psp. This is wrong! You DO NOT NEED TO RESET YOUR PSP MANUALLY AFTER THE DOWNGRADE IS COMPLETE! IT WILL RESET BY ITSELF UNLESS SOMETHING WENT WRONG DURING THE PROCESS. AND WAIT FOR AT LEAST 2-3 MINUTES AND WAIT FOR THE MEMORY ACCESS LIGHT TO STOP BLINKING BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING.

i would try the Downdater, but i just bought my PSP yesterday (because of the news) and dont plan on bricking it the next day.
although i agree it would make no sense if it bricked unless TA-082 boards really do repel 1.5 firmware somehow.
thats why someone needs to be as honest as they can and actually be a registered user and say they have confirmed that it does/does not work on TA-082 boards as i have one of them! it would be nice if the question, "Does it work on TA-082 motherboards?", could stop being ignored.

those 1.5 files "could be" on psp-hacks.com. The full version of this is alot simpler i think.
Don't be dumb trying to make someone who knows more than you sound dumb , people from spain are called spanish or spaniords ( or espanoles in spanish ), people from Mexico are called mexicans ( or mejicanos in spanish ) and people from latin american countries like Mexico can be called latin americans also ( or latino americanos in spanish ). Anyways I wanna downgrade but fear that 8.5% , even though it's small I don't have money to buy another one if mine bricks :(.

As far as I know, no one has actually tried using a TA-082 PSP with the final version of the downgrader- just constant warnings. I know earlier beta versions would brick TA-082's, but I've yet to have heard of one being bricked by the final version (or beta 5 for that matter).
As an aside, I'm so pissed, because I've been looking for a copy of GTA to rent for like 5 days now, and it's checked out EVERYWHERE... gah, I don't want to buy it for 40 bucks... and I don't really want to get into that Gamefly/credit card stuff...

Would somebody out there be able to clear something for me: I have a european psp (uk) on firware 2.01, firstly where can I get the european 2.5 or 2.6 firmware to upgrade to before using the downgrader. some people have suggested psp hacks and qj.net but they only have us firmware for 2.5/2.6
Also, do the dumped files from the 1.50 firmware have to be from the same region as yor psp? these two questions do not seem to be answered anywhere (that I have found) any help would be very welcome

You don't need a eur 2.6 to update. Just find any v2.6 update and then use this on your psp. Then downgrade.

I have sucessfully downgraded to 1.5 from 2.6 and it works!!. I have access to 2 psp one 2.6 and now the other one is 1.5. If you are unsure of downgrading and you have only one psp wait for the new 2.6 eloader it will have kernal access and it may even be run from xmb if fanjita is succeessfull and iam sure he will be. Also it may also be possible to hack the flash with this new eloader to load kernal access homebrew from the xmb with out GTA but who knows?
Go to ISOHUNT.COM and in the Searchbox at the top of the page type in DOWNDATER. But make sure it is in all caps or it won't work. This is how I got my dump and it worked virus free. YAH!

If you use this downgrader are you able to use official firmware upgrades if you desire? I heard this downgrader is more of a hack than a downgrade.

And of course you would be able to upgrade. You can upgrade from 1.5 to the latest firm out, can't you?
So what would be de diference? You would now have the 1.5 firm and so you could upgrade.
Remember that you are downgrading to an official firmware of Sony, which is 1.5.

Yes its still works. they say its version 1.50 but some hacker just spoofed the number to 13.37. so i guess im not bricked. i can still play 1.5 umd's and below
I used the downgrader and it works fine I have 1.5 now. Only problem is that i could not play some ISOS and certain Homebrew. What my friend could, So i noticed that the 1.5 version that I have was no good. I solved the problem by updating to 2.0 and downgrading with a downgrader created for 2.0 to 1.5. And now everything works fine
so is your psp a ta-082? (check the inside right corner of the psp umd drive if gold serial numbers visable you have mobo from hell - or so a post at psphacks had me to beleive- ifso then hell yeah!)

I don't get it. Is it true that it requires the PSP game Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories in order to downgrade? If it's so, what does it mean by the Original UMD? How do I know if I have the original version of the game or not???

184: you need to have GTA Liberty stories to run any homebrew on a 2.5/2.6 The downgrader is a Homebrew app so you'll need to learn how to do this first, there are loads of tuts out there just search for them. The original game just means a purchased UMD disk of the game (althought I read that the latest versions have the exploit patched so may not work - buit that's all covered in the tuts).
My question for the rest of you guys is my friend with a 1.5 firmware that I was going to use for my 2.5 downgrade has a Jap imorted PSP. Is there going to be a problem (or even more of a risk) using the 1.5 firmware from a Jap unit to flash my 2.5 PAL unit?

Best bet is to buy it used, like from ebay, or a game store that sells used games. That's what I'd do anyway:P. Might be worth mentioning too, that this thing will only work if you have a virgin PSP, one that has been upgraded from 1.0 or 1.5 . Hope this helped

i am confused i download the step by step video on this page !right , first it tellz me to connnect the usb port and delete all the files.'which i did"next is saids look for some codez in the back of my umb -next it ask me what version i have so i selected 2.60..QUESTION it never told me i had to take 1.5 files from some esles psp and transfer them to my psp....my problem is what to i do continue with the next step which is to unplugg my psp for the usb and load grand teft auto or should i get tranfer files from someone esles psp....or when it told me to load, some files came up psp on my psp are these the 1.50 files.... can someone who loaded the downgrade instruction manual tell what should i do next..

I guess someone included something funky in your files...Personaly if everything works ok i would leave it like that...If you want to change it to 1.5 or whatever you want just download the version changer and run it...

yeah.. I can do the same with X-FLASH! Lolll hmmm my not be that bad.. you know what.. maybe you miss some things in your firmware.. I did.. didnt have any Themes.. and all the corrupted datas didnt have the same icon.. it was all white.. So I upgraded my psp to 2.00 and then downgraded it back to 1.50.. now it works like a charm!

So many people keep asking can I downgrade my psp isn't TA-082. The Answer is yes! you can downgrade. Before downgrading be sure to check inside the umd drive on the top right corner on the board to not see the number IC1003 this is TA-082 both are one and the same. If you have this I would suggest that you don't downgrade at the moment and wait till a downgrader comes out thats compatible for the TA-082. If you don't see this feel free to downgrade to your hearts content. If you get the downgrade working and it tells you your sytem firmware version is 13.37 just upgrade to 2.0 then use the downgrader 2.0 to 1.5 this will fix alot of problems :D. You can find these files both on http://psp-hacks.com under downlaods or on this wonderful website by using the search bar.
Hope this helps and if I find or see a TA-082 firmware downgrader that works I will post it here.

I just downgraded first it was 2.01 then i upgraded it to 2.5 before i downgraded. After the downgrade i check my firmware it says 2.0 but obviosuly it isn't as it has no web browser and when i try to run 2.0fw gta:lcs it wont load and nor can i upgraded to 2.0 as it says i have that firmware. This also happened to my friend today who did it as well with me at school and his psp firmware was 2.6 and now says 2.0
