PSP is now a ***** console. All these ISO loaders etc. is damaging the PSP since it is likely that many game manufacturers will pull out of the PSP market leaving it like the engage. Think about it. Nobody will buy games....thats a bad image. I got a DS and PSP. At least i know that the DS is a safe console and is unlikely for it to fall.

to those who say the DS is not as pirate friendly

what are you talking about early posters, the DS has flash cartridges that have been able to put the DS games onto them and play straight from the flash carts. nothing is safe from piracy. and regardless if you feel that all pirates just download the free games or not, it will not damage the psp sales, it will only fuel them because people who do not have a 2.5 or 2.6 psp will rush out to buy a psp just so they can downgrade later. plus you also have that part of the community who dont read at places like pspupdates or max console so they really dont hear about it. just cool your jets, thanks for the app dark_alex and booster, your work is fantastic *golf clap*

now that there is an actual reason for 2.6ers like me to use kernel mode (which 4 now means downgrading), why not develope a way to use the exploit found in 2.6 that allows for kernel access? (2.6 is better than 1.5, sorry but it is)

Don't restore the default settings!

Don't try to restore default settings on 2.71, you'll get stuck at the 'setting information is corrupt' screen.

You only need 2.71 files

For those asking you only need 2.71 firmware files, it obviously wont work if you try to boot to a lower firmware. Not sure if you can delete the lower fw folders...but they only take up 14k without the fw dumps in them & your 2.71 folder should be around 20mb

the only thing 1.5 has going for it is kernel access(allows your costomization), which was unlocked but not developed on 2.6 (yet). in terms of fw itself, 2.6 is way better: browser, avc, wma, rss feeds, etc.

Booster and Dark Alex are homebrew gods. GODS I say because they deliver more stuff for SONY's system then sony does themselves. As far as piracy goes, how many good PSP games are there, really though. Between 6 and 12 MAYBE. I have nintendo ds and although it's not as technologically advanced as the psp. The games are of such a higher caliber. So if I'm going to play a game for about 25 mins why the hell would I want to buy it? Sony is done as a company the psp is working out to be a gigantic failure, and so is the PS3. Yea its going to be super powerful but it's 600 bucks! I rather get a Wii and every single launch game. Futhermore how do you start another beta max/vhs war against MICROSOFT. Today is another example of that sony seriously underestimates the consumers.

Yes, there is a bug evenI found, when you use the rapid share thing, it freezes whenever you try to mess with the settings on the emulated 2.71. Someone try using the patch for the last devhook. the last devhook did the same exact thing, except it was with save games. This thing corrupts your emulated firmware im about to use the patch for the last devhook now. 43.1 i believe. I may be wrong about what version. But it was the patch for the last devhook. Im going to try that now

I'd expect its water of a ducks back to sony, they new it would and the effect of their sales is probably hardly noticeable. Generally the people that pirate games would have not bought them anyway (and if they did buy them, they wouldn't have bought anywhere near what they've pirated, so the net effect is peanuts) On the other hand, it virtually pulls the rug right out under the feet of the people that paid for the design, development and largescale production of the recent Mod Chip. I know it does more, but until it displays a killer app, no one is going to pay the cash and go through the risky install, while they can just use DevHook. Sure they'll still sell some but no where near the amount they would have done if DevHook had not been released. I bet these guys are loosing far more sleep than Sony.

For those of you who aren't able to use your brains and look around a bit, here are some simple instructions for how to use DevHook .44 with 2.71 firmware: 1) Grab DevHook .44 and extract it on your computer 2) Open the MS_ROOT folder and copy the contents (both folders) into the root of your memory stick via USB. It might ask to overwrite files - say yes. 3) Grab the 2.71 Upgrade EBOOT.PBP from Sony's website (link below) 4) Using PBPUnPacker (link below), extract all of the files from the 2.71 Upgrade EBOOT 5) Copy the extracted DATA.PSAR into the root of your memory stick 6) On your PSP, go to Games->Memory Stick->DevHook Installer and run it 7) Press O, let it do its thing (you'll see a bunch of text scroll past). Once it's complete, press O again (it should write a few more lines). Once that is complete, press O again to exit. 8) Now obtain a reboot.bin for 2.71 (Links in previous posts, google it, find a friend, etc.) 9) Copy (via USB) the reboot.bin file into the folder X:\dh\271 from your computer to your PSP 10) Run DevHook Launcher on your PSP (not the japanese one) 11) When you see the white-on-black text, press O. Piracy on DS Vs Psp

I really don't know why so many people think the DS has less piracy than the Psp. The fact is it is easier to run copied games on the DS than the Psp, fully functinal hacked firmware exists for it and runs on the newest DS Lite, flash carts and pass throughs exist and you can have capacities of up to 8GB or however large the capacity of CF cards are to store backed up games on using a CF or SD adapter. So before you speak of how there is less piracy on the DS, I suggest you get your facts right.

Yeh id say piracy on the NDS is just as bad/good as the PSP. Nearly all games run flawlessy using a flash cart for the NDS with everything working. Not all pirated PSP games run and most have the guts ripped out of them (Cutscences, music, SFX etc) and that require the currect model and firmware.

All released current gen consoles have been hacked to run copies NDS - HACKED PSP - HACKED XBOX 360 - HACKED The WII and the PS3 more than likely be hacked maybe not as quickly has the PSP or the 360. DVDs where cracked so images couldbe ripped, decoded, and burnt to a DVD-r. BLU RAY and HD DVD will follow the same fate eventually (Lol they sort of already have) The GBA, XBOX, Gamecube, and PS2 from the last generation were all hacked but they did okay.

2.71 Emulation is god like.

Actually...now that we can Emulate 2.71, we can go out and buy UMD's without worrying to upgrade from 1.5. So plz dont think of the people who used backed up coppies only. Back up coppies are used(supposed) when holding the original UMD, to speed up loading times.

This is pretty good, but we still have a few more web browser issues, and one more thing. This doesnt work with 1.00 psps, i use PSPBrew to convert the files but it still doesnt work. 1.00 is a better firmware to use homebrew on, and its a shame that the only homebrew that doesnt work on it is Devhook. So, why dont we make it 1.00 compatible? I doubt its that hard... Anyway, maybe it will become available for 1.00 psps after we get custom firmwares. Once people see that 1.00 can have custom firmwares, they will realize that it is indeed, the best firmware. I guess ill have to wait.

i think the best part about dev hook and all the advancement it's been making is that it will allow those with 1.5 psp the go out and finally buy games! it may help pirates but it will also help lagitamit owners aswell. heck im sure some people how dont own a million memory sticks will want to be able to play some of the games theve down loaded with out having to swap the iso files on there sticks so you'll go out and buy games just like the rest of us.

The advances in devhook the last few weeks will actually allow some of us to buy more games. I have been refraining from buying games so that I would not have to jump through too many hoops to make the games run. Now that Devhook has up up to par I can buy games without regard to firmware version. So in my instance Devhook is stimulating the sales of games. It is not all about ISOs.

Now we have all the firmwares, but like others have said couldn't you just have a devhook that has 2.71 and nothing else? Since 2.71 does everything that the others do. ok, i've done everything and flash isn't working.. go into the options to find 'enable flash' and 'enable wma' will this harm my psp if i connect to the internet to enable them? i know messing about upgrading the 2.6 emulated firmware would damage it... any ideas? THANKS

the dreamcast didnt die from homebrew, it died because it lacked appeal to the american market, it was outshined by the PS1. the dreamcast would have been a fantastic system. but dont blame the homebew scene for something unrelated. sega's dreamcasts demise was because of marketing decisions, not isos. u wanna know why pspupdates is always trying to digg sh1t? it's called web traffic and pay per click. digg has a lot of visitors to it's site. this site is loaded with adwords and banners and the more traffic the site has the more likely someone is likely to click on a banner or a sponsor so this site makes money. basically pspupdates is piggy backing the visitors from digg to here. it's called ecommerce and it's not just about selling ***** online anymore.

I tested again with all packs available and 0.44 still freezes 90% of the time at 333Mhz and a lot at 222MHz. Outrun 2006 still a no go for me...

Only reason you got pppl here complainin bout 2.71 emulation is becuase this is a big thing that has attracted a lot of dumb noobies to the place. OH ya and madd propz to Booster for this. Ok ppl, there's no way this could kill the psp. First of all, more people might wanna buy the psp knowing that they can have all the homebrew they wand ANd be able to play their 2.7 umds. Second, Not too many people can afford 1gb and 2gb memory sticks, so they might just have a 512 memory stick that will only b able to hold 1 or 2 games at the very most. And finally, if nobody bought the games, where would they download it from? You might find likea million downloads for one Umd game. That just means that at least THAT MANY PPL actually bought the game. If noone bought the games, noone would be able to download the games. and one more thing.... why the 2.60 files

i followed the instructions pspupdates and 179 said to follow and have it working perfectly. but why does pspupdates state you need the 2.60 system.ireg and system.dreg? and if you really need them where do you put them? so far my own build works fine without them. btw i tried some of those full packs some have links to dl. they work but have all kinds of funky anime crap cluttering things up. do it yourself and its nice and clean with no clutter.

if u want to use the other firmwares u have to install them. u can do this by donwloading other packs but then u will have to reinstall the 0.44 version for it to work or u can download the eboot update files for the firmware u want and then use pbp unpacker to get the data.psar file. then u put that file in the root of ur memory stick and then run the firmware installer, included with devhook

today i have just bricked my PSP, not on devhook, devhook is great, anyway i'm going to get a new PSP today, what Version is the firmware from out of the box?

I had the problem of the psp telling that it is corrupt and then restarts in 2.71 and again the same screen. I fixed it using this method. Pretty much common sense, but here you go: 1) go back to 1.5 2) back up your memory stick 3) format your memory stick in 1.5 menu 4) put back your stuff (ie music, photos, videos, etc.) nothing else including devhook. 5) re-install devhook on psp. 6) and your good to go. Hope you got what you came for keep homebrew alive! (and psp) good job booster

WOW people, just WOW, talking about Cybblade in that manner is exactly why i hate this trash you call a psp community. Its one thing people calling other people retchid names in the comments section, its another thing people screwing at and dissing homebrew developers like psmonkey to name but a few, but there is a fine yet distinctive line that has been crossed today as somebody praises the death of someone they have absolutly no connection to, and just for the sake of this person adding to a back then, decent community. I dont know about the rest of you guys but i am really disheartened about this vile act. To all those people saying homebrew is killing PSP, firstly, homebrew does not mean ISOs, ISOs are an act of piracy yes, but homebrew as it stands are programs developed by programmers at no extra cost to you and all for no financial gain. Homebrew is giving us functions Sony probably never even intended, for example, PMP, your getting a full media player capable of streaming to save memory stick space direct to your device, now Sony demands you buy there own propriatry hardware to use such features, even then it doesnt match up to the homebrew development, PSP has loads of emulators just like the PC and PDAs, with all the homebrew developments out there, your getting a hell of a lot of BANG for your BUCK. Thats the only way i can define getting a PSP at this moment in time, as currently the games are lacking and the system as it stands is not what Sony promised us. dont buy a new psp

to the guy who bricked his psp..: dont buy a new one. my brother and a friend of mine bought one a day or 2 ago each from different stores.The firmware out of he box was 2.5 firmware with the ta-082 pcb board(a.k.a. motherboard). so dont buy a "new" psp. The only kind i would advise is a used one and only barely. The used ones are cheaper and are less likely to have the ta-082 board and gamestop,ebgames will let u return it within 30 days if it doesn't work or if you secretly brick it(most likely trying to downgrade it.) The problems with a used one might be that it can have 2.7 firmware,native to 2.6 firmware, replaced analog nub,scratched screen, and no warranty.

has any body tried to play a flash game? or flash movie like ultimate showdown? i have attempted to play them by placing them on the root of the psp and running thru the web browser as file:/ name of flash program.swf. I get errors like not enought memory.

i forgot to say that the loco roco demo does work. all i did was just put it in a folder labeled "loco roco" and then run devhook and then play it from the xmb. if i had a digital camera id show it working but i dont so whatever.

I got every thing elese working fine but every time I try to go into RSS my psp says I dont have any saved and it corrupts my system folder meaning I gota reformat any one else having the same problem

Yea same here, when you go into rss it corrupts my system folder and a file in my DH folder. No idea why that is, ill check the source code and see if i can figure it out.

Fixed Ok heres the run if emulating 2.00 the web browser works with 333 if emulating 2.50 2.60 2.71 the web browser works with 222 F.U.C.K Pirates Booster and Dark Alex are my hero's. Still a few problems

This is pretty good, but we still have a few more web browser issues, and one more thing. This doesnt work with 1.00 psps, i use PSPBrew to convert the files but it still doesnt work. 1.00 is a better firmware to use homebrew on, and its a shame that the only homebrew that doesnt work on it is Devhook. So, why dont we make it 1.00 compatible? I doubt its that hard... Anyway, maybe it will become available for 1.00 psps after we get custom firmwares. Once people see that 1.00 can have custom firmwares, they will realize that it is indeed, the best firmware. I guess ill have to wait.

I Say For Now 2.6 DEVHOOK is the Best To Use

Why I say this is coz, right now 2.71 is just a New Release that has no GOOD Bug Fixes Yet. So I Suggest To Everyone, that you should just use the 2.6 version for now. Because What's the Point of having a 2.71 right now, YEA its an upgrade I know, but right now mostly all ISO IMAGE and UMDs are FW 2.6, am I correct? All Right Now 2.71 Firmware has is a Flash Enabler that's not even for the BROWSER. So I think everyone should be patient for "Booster" to Fix All The Problem and let him do his thing. LOL 2.6 is Still Great. Hurray for Booster!! So I guess people should stop askin question about the fixes for now.

lets ask ourselves this shall we? do games and consoles sell more or less when modchips and new hacks come out? do you do research on how many they sell each month, acount in what happens in the home brew scene, the economy, what games come out, are they good ones(A+) or bad ones(***** games). Have you people taken that much time to do all this research and study? No you probably havnt. Originally mod chips were made due to region codes that are in older cartridge games. Later, people would manufacture rom cartridges and pirate copied roms on the black market or on the streets. Now we have a combination, but do you see fake umd's for sale, news on how to tell if their fake? no, you see it still for the GBA and NDS, along with our Memory stick duo's. These are illegal because the royalties are not paid, besides making them its all profit for them. But now we have the psp, the homebrew community has unified under its sexy lil body. We hack, and now mod, our psp's for our nostalgic cartridge games from over a decade old, our homebrew games and apps, our UMD games we want to get. Firmware updates have limited us to a choice previous, play free on the homebrew scene, or take the dive and get a game weve been dieing for. Now with the downdater and devhook we can have both once again. We can play our homebrew AND buy the games weve been dieing for. Yes we may rip 1-2 onto our MSDUO's to save space, over time that hassle saves us from damaging our umds or losing them, not to mention the space. Sure a small small percentage will use it for iso's they download from the internet, they dont want to pay. They feel technology and play is to expensive, that their egos deserve a deal. Those that cant wait, that feel cheated over nothing, or just have a ventdetta over corporations. Cheer as you may, but for shame if you have nothing to contribute back for what youve taken. Buy a game now and then and put it up for your other pirates, make homebrew apps and/or games, hell even dig up some news or hack at the system you use. Eh, i seem to be backing the iso backup users and pirates here, but at least some of them contribute to the hole, Sony is a corporation and thus they are powerful but few. They cant give us everything we want. But we can, with homebrew we fill in the gaps they leave. We dont limit the psp by our paychecks and time, just by our time and love/need. Those who say the psp will die from us, why do you visit such a site? Do you wish to break up a community that has mostly sought to better their experience with the psp? Or are you just *****s our to have your asses filled with coperate candy?

That was very well stated. I wish everybody could read and understand that. People, there are already iso emulators that can already load games of higher firmwares. Some include Mph Loader, Umd Emulator, and RunUmd (Used it to play Syphon Filter coz i couldn't afford it having spent money on a girl), so why vent your anger on DevHook when there are already ppl doing the same thing before? Only distinguishable difference between this Iso Loader and the rest is the fact that this one can emulate different firmwares. So losers, grow up, get a life (and a girlfriend) and stop being whiney children squeelin "THIS IS THE END OF THE PSP!!" Because it isn't.
