Devhook Launcher Port for 2.71 |

PSP Coder Dark_AleX has just released his DevHook Launcher port for 2.71 firmware. In his previous release, which was a 2.71 XMB homebrew launcher, the project was limited to user mode and homebrew had to be a single PBP/PRX which was not in ELF format. He was also originally aiming to have the kernel mode available via the TIFF exploit, but in this version, he has achieved just that. With this new launcher, people with 2.71 firmware can now emulate 1.50.However, as with any other hack of this kind, caution must be exercised in order to not brick your PSP, so make sure to go over the compatibility chart and the readme file which have been included. Installing this launcher involves installing another HEN first which will be flashed, so be careful.
The creator also cautions that this version has only been tested on 1.50 and 2.71 firmware, so PSP owners with other firmware versions other than the ones indicated might want to steer clear for now. Dark_AleX has also included the following instructions:
- You need Homebrew Enabler for 2.71 revision B (minimum) to run this port.
- Get the files to emulate firmwares yourself.
- Run the pbp with the title "Devhook 0.4X launcher for 2.71". The 1.50 launcher is also included because in the emulated 1.50 you can launch it.

Cool, but I don't care too much...I have 1.50.
But to load the GTA cheat Device, I need 2.60, so what if I emulate 2.71, then load DevHook from there which will load 2.60....
Does this mean that it can fully run devhook & so can run iso's ?
This is great people on firmware 2.71 can emulate 1.5. Never thought it could be accomplised but it has. YAY

This is amazing, 2.71 - to emulated 1.5. This is really incredible.....it doesnt quite make 2.71 the 'golden' firmware, but it dam well is coming close to. Keep up the good work guys

emulating 1.5FW with TA-082 still wont work. I tested it and my PSP just freeze
what so special about 2.71, it has a bigger problem than the 2.6? it is easier to exploit, how come dark_alex didnt do put this exploit in 2.6????
@18 then u havent configged it correctly. memory stick corruption is a big cause of devhook crashing. or ur dump is bad.
now people with 2.71 can emulate 1.5 instead of 1.5 emulating 2.71

Don't worry, this is normal and it is done in purpose as a current temporal solution for reboot.bin parameters being differents in both firmwares.

This SHOULD work for TA-082... I'm none too sure, but I think it's just if 1.50 is installed to the ACTUAL flash memory then it'll refuse to run it.

I have a ta 82 jap motherboard. I upgraded it to 2.71 with the jap update. Will this work for me? Also what does he mean by getting the files to emulate the firmware? Where do i get these?

So I go to the photo folder and open the folder HEN, my merystick begins to load but hangs after this. And my psp shuts off. Am I forgetting something?
I guess this is pretty good news with 2.71 TA-82. Now almost every firmware can have 1.5 exept for the people who upgraded. If your a non TA-82 2.71 user downgrade!lol. I did and hello sweet sweet homebrew.

i got things to work *reformated memory stick* ran hen, got that to install/ flash... now i have devhook on my psp... all files from the download... now, i have a copy of fw 1.5, now what do i do to do the reboot thingy...

I remember when lots of people thought PSP scene is dead after Humma left and 2.01 firmware was released. There is NO better time to owned a PSP. Thanks Dark_Alex and all the other great programmers out there. We miss Booster.
I have reformatted my memorystick and have tried to launch hen about 25 times now, and it has crashed everytime.
Oh well, at least I know that it works for some TA-82 owners.

im not tempted to upgrade cuz its still too dificult to emulate 1.5 if it was a simpler way maybe but for now im not even thinking about upgrading 1.50 is still way better and simpler to use than 2.71. still it would be kind of cool to have a 2.71 than 1.5 norm

After about 50 tries and a number of "tweaks" I got the green screen from the TIFF exploit and the example games worked! I think formatting the the card helped - after that it only took 10 more tries to get the green screen. Before format it always froze and often turned off - no blue screen at all.
Now there are many of us that would like a clearly written tutorial on what we need to do (the readme talks about finding some files ofr ourselves - which shouldn't be too hard - but not which files and where to put them).

Could someone really nice and thoughtful create a tutorial of what files are needed (not where to get them, seen as some are illegal to distribute) and also where to put them all on your memory stick. And then also what to do on the start up of the PSP to when you are able to fully emulate FW 1.5?

this works perfect on my brothers TA-082 mobo (i dont need this I have vigin 1.50 :-p ) but this does NOT work on firmware 2.80 because 2.80 has no kenal access as of yet. This does not work on any other firmware besides 2.71 so if you want this upgrade to 2.71.

it should load as soon as you hit x in the folder if it dosent just turn it off and try it again you should see a quick blue screen followed by a green or red screen if it was green all the file were written succesfully if it was red they wernt
I've got all the files I need, and installed the homebrew enabler. What do I need to do now though? Copy the dumped 1.50 folder 'flash0' and 'flash1' into the '150' folder of the devhook folder? (e.g. 'dh\150') please help.

first time i ran HEN successfully, i got the green screen, but when i loaded DEVHOOK, it didn't work, then after i rebooted it was as if the HEN didnt store the files PERMANENTLY, because it wouldn't open DEV, so everytime i want to open DEV, i gotta do HEN over and over until i get the blue screen, which is the only one I get, i don't get green anymore, and also i am on a TA-082, please help
just go to the link that #91 has and download the first file you see the file comes with the 1.5 FM dump and everything set up for you just need to extract the MS_ROOT folder to your psps root and that all

i was even able to load ISO with devooh 0.46 after emulating 1.50

Unfortunatly the hombrew enabler for 2.71 is VERY unstable, and doenst always work....it has worked a couple times though....i've been unable to get it working in the last 10 minutes though

You're lucky to get it working at all. I have the same TA-82/firmware as you, and I've been trying to get it to load for two hours, and it has never worked. I know I am doing everything right, but this tiff loader is SO unstable. Hopefully there will be a fix?

its working fine, loading ISO's, but im not sure why SNES doenst work.....everytime i try to load a rom it crashes....i dont know if this is due to my own error or becuase of the firmware emulation....keep in mind this is my first time ever using a PSP
Alright, I can get dev to start up all right, and I select 1.5 from the firmware menu, but when I hit start, all I get is a black screen and then the psp turns off. I got the 1.5 dump and I put the flash0 and flash1 folders in the 1.50 folder that comes with devhook. Can anybody help me out?
Ok ive noticed that everybody that has got this working is too much of an ***** to help anybody out with there problems so...
download the HEN and run if you get the green screen your O.K
then download the 1.5 dump, check psp-hacks.com they have it.
place the src and dh folder in the ms_root or root of psp.
place the flash0 and flash1 in dh/1.5/* files go here
if it ask to overwrite press yes.
check flash0 folder if it doesnt have reboot.bin it should. make sure you download that.
with that being said i have to ask a question.
if i emulate 1.00 on my 2.71 ta-082 psp is it possible that i could run the 1.5 update to get firmware 1.5 ive helped you guys now please help me!!!

DO NOT run 1.5 update on your TA-82, you will brick it! TA-82's are not capable of loading the 1.5 firmware onto the flash, and therefore don't do it for the sake of your psp!

Yes, you can emulate 1.50 no problem, but the question he was asking was if he could load emulator 1.00, and then install firmware 1.50 (permanently), meaning that every time the psp started up, 1.50 would start up. It is too completely different things, as you are emulating 1.5 off of the memory card, not flashing it onto your psp.
since no one is nice to give a tutorial, but nice to give bits and peaces, were do i get a reboot.bin and were do i place that on my memstick... im sure im not the only one lost

Someone in this forum posted a link for devhook WITH 1.5 FILES INCLUDED!
You download and copy 2.71 Homebrew enabler to your memstick AND you copy the 2.71 Devhook to your memstick
You turn on your PSP try numerous times untill the HEN tiff works, it will probably crash on you many times before it works
Once it works, run devhook 2.71...emulate 1.50, then when your in 1.50 run devhook 0.46 ( NOT THE 2.71 one, the 1.50 launcher is also included with the package)
Once you run devhook 0.46 while you are emulating 1.5 you can do whatever the hell you want
hardest part is getting homebrew enabler for 2.71 to load and not crash

Ok, so after a few hours of searching, reading, and pulling hair out, I finally got it working! First off, Shellcase thank you very much for your post (#118) I now have 1.50 emulated. I had just got the enabler working after more than an hour turning the power on and off, afterward I wasn't looking forward to the whole process of setting up devhook, but just in time I stumbled upon your post... Worked in a matter of minutes! Now, I just need to find some homebrew to run. Thanks again Shellcase, and HUGE!!! THANKS!!! to Dark_Alex and anyone else involved, as well as the rest of the awesome people who seem so devoted to making us cursed TA-082 users a little happier.

man im such a noob...
I've loaded and successfully run the enabler, giving me a green screen.
I've copied the flash0 and flash1 directory files into .\dh\150\flash0 and .\dh\150\flash1
The .txt config files in .\dh\150\flash0\kd\ have been successfully overwritten.
reboot.bin has been copied to .\dh\150\flash0\
I've run the Devhook 0.4X launcher for 2.71, and set the firmware version to 1.50 in the initial setup menu.
When clicking on 'START' in that initial menu in Devhook, the PSP goes black, and shuts down. I have to manually turn it back on.
At this point, it is still 2.71, and I must repeat the process of running the enabler to be able to run Devhook 0.4X for 2.71 again.
What am I doing wrong, or what can I do to solve this problem?
Hmm... I found the 1.50 dump at psp hacks, but there is no reboot.bin. Where the heck do I get that? Someone, anyone, please help. Thanks!

Hi, Guys. I have used the above hack and successfully playing games on ISOs. I hope that dark_alex will stable the HEN and enable it to run at one go. Advice to the rest: You can off your PSP and take out the battery if you failed to load HEN and on it back again to load HEN, it will be faster this way. one you emulate the firmware to 1.5, you can load devhook and play iso games. note that if you got latest game that require 2.71 you will require to load devhook again and select 2.71 fw then load the iso. it will run the game from there. Note that your devhook is empty and require you to load the fw dump. you can get the fw dump from psp-hack and you require 2.71 fw dump as well.
Yes i also realized you need a dump of 2.71 for newer ISO's

OPERATION(after turn on psp)
4)Go to photo viewer and enter HEN.You have to repeat this process until there is either a blue or green screen(Freezes and red screen means unsuccessful patching, retry UNTIL there is blue or green screen).After a blue/green screen, psp will reboot and ure done!

anyways then try to download again, with a different downloader(like mozilla, internet explorer....)

To emulate FW2.71 from the emulated FW1.5 (So I can run ISO's that need FW2.71) do I need the FW2.71 dumps and to place these in the 'dh/271' folder?
Secondly, on one tutorial it says "just make sure everything from the psp folder is in your current psp folder" does that mena that everything in the 'PSP' folder for HEN etc. I must copy into the 'PSP' folder on my memory stick?

To the comments asking why we want 2.71 dump when we already have 1.50 emulated, its because new ISO's wont run on 1.50...when you try to start it it says "your system needs to be updated"
NHL 07 for example will not run with 1.50 emulation, hence why we are asking for dumps of newer firmware.

becuase when i get devhook running i choose FW 1.50 reboot from XMB, normal cpu speed and I only have 1 option from UMD. i click start and it shuts of shortly after.

you need to put the flash0/1 folders inside the 150 folder, NOT THE 150F
and the reboot.bin also goes directly in the 150 folder, not inside the flash0/1 folders
once the files are there, you should be able to emulate 1.50 no problem
the problem now is finding those files for newer firmware to run latest iso's. becauuse lots fo stuff wotn run on 1.50

Get the dump files for firmware 2.71 from the auto-installer of DevHook.
Just look in 'dh/271' and all the files are in there, I hope this helps, it took me a while to find them aswell.

P.S. You have to reformat if u have HEN A installed before.

3) install FW1.50 dump.(Drag and drop flash0 & flash1 &reboot.bin==>dh==>150 and overwrite everything.)
OPERATION(auto turn on psp)
4)Go to photo viewer and enter HEN.You have to repeat this process until there is either a blue or green screen(Freezes and red screen means unsuccessful patching, retry UNTIL there is blue or green screen).After a blue/green screen, psp will reboot and ure done!

8)Ensure that you have FW 2.71 Dump as well so that you can copy into dh/270/flash0 (You can obtain a copy from Devhook Ultimate Installer 1.1, Install into a folder and copy out FW 2.71 dump. Note that devhook 0.46 does not work with the launcher. Do not copy everything of devhook into your memory stick)
9)Load the devhook 0.45 while in FW 1.50 emulation and select fw 2.71 and load your ISO games.
10) It will auto restart again and this time it will run your ISO games.
I hope my comments are detail enough for you guys as I have successfully emulate my TA-082 to FW 1.50 by using devhook launcher for 2.71 and load devhook 0.45 with FW 2.71 to play ISO games. Note that while you are in FW 1.50 emulation, you still can see Devhook 0.45. Click it and emulate to devhook 2.71 to load your ISO. Enjoy!!! I bet you don't wish to off your PSP once you are in cause you will have a hard time coming back to FW 1.50 emulation. Guys out there, I bet you don't wish to anyhow upgrade your FW anymore.

I'd like to confirm this working perfectly. I have a TA-082 originally 2.50 upgraded to 2.71. Installed this port as well as the enabler as instructed and I can confirm it does indeed launch Devhook .46 and everything that goes along with it ;)
So as awesome as downgrading the TA-082 would be, it doesn't really seem all that necessary anymore, it's doing what I wanted it to now :) (Besides, I have another 1.5 PSP to play with anyway lol)

I have tried to load devhook on my ta 82 numerous times but it won't work. I have all the required files but the 1.5 reebot bin because the dump i got of the net does not included it I decided to dump my own files from my other psp. In the dump there is a folder named kd. Inside there is a file called reboot.prx. Is this the right file? If so do i need to rename it to reboot.bin

then place any umd into the umd drive *any will work*

go to umd, select your ISO, not the umd, and select "image + anyumd"
then go and start
your psp will restart
shows "game couldn not start", press 0
now check your firmware
1.5
now go to game, and memory stick
load devhook .46 launcher *not 2.71*
now go to firmware select
select fw 2.71
go to umd slect
select the iso u have in the ISO folder
*no option will appear*
then go to start
the ISO should now load... there you go

i just figured out how to switch ISOs. while holding the Home button, press R to switch...
i followed muppetman's instructions to make it successful.. if you follow exactly the steps, it should work.

you have to be in 2.71 to play ALL iso's, if your in fw 1.5 then you can only play games upto 1.5, so load fw 2.71 *in the tutorial* and add the iso's in the ISO folder on the root memory stick

What’s up? your psp closes *shuts off?* make sure you have a UMD in the UMD slot after you run hen all the way until you successfully have 2.71 emulated *unless you wanted to be in another fw*

when you open your mem stick, theres a PSP and mp_root folder, when you open that root1.rar, go as far as you see the files "PSP,mp_root, ISO,DH and a few other files* copy all of that and replace/add them to your mem stick. then run hen from the photo, i sugguest a clean memory stick before you try it... if all things work, you can go ahead with the full tutoriall!

Be also sure to have a disc in your PSP.
(As I am a noob myself I had to find that one out.LoL.)
After starting your iso up with the devhook go in games to the UMD pic and you should see your game coming up. Hit x!
Some games will not work but most will I found out.
