I have been reading all the news about DevHook. I just cant figure this out! Why is it that everyone is working hard on keeping alive 1.5 when 3.2 is the thing out there. why isnt anyone helping out the noobs that have bought a new system and dont have a way to downgrade. All i ever hear from the homebrew users that have fw 1.5 is it our fault for upgrading. I thought that we are here to help each other out? So who is the group of people that are working on the fix for 3.x? where can a person go to get information on whats being done about this instead of hearing a bunch of wankers wine and put down noobs that want the same thing as the people with fw 1.5. Im sure that the ones that have fw 1.5 would feel the same way as US noobs if they had fw 3.x!

Of course everything is for 1.5....its actually a workable format. Maybe people should not buy a brand new psp then. You can get a used 1.5 for no more than a new 3.2 Its gonna be quite a while for downgraders for new systems. 1.5 has and probably will always be the magic number. If someone wants to have homebrew stuff, then u bought the wrong one.

First, people listen more if you don't refer to them as wankers. Second, it is not our responsibility that your PSP is version 3.x. If you were interested in putting homebrew on your PSP, more thought and research might have been necessary if you wanted a 1.5. Third, there is currenty no downgrader for 3.x, so you're basically being too impatient. The developers will release it in their own time, and that's not for you to decide. That's like say, you're at a restaurant and the food's taking a while, so you're getting impatient and angry. People are trying to help with the 3.x and such, but it's not easy and won't be done in two minutes.

***** The Wankers i tell you what...Little do you know i'm sure there are hundreds (or 4) of the 1337est psp owners in the world working on a way to get all you noobs to stop complaining. You should have been more aware BEFORE buying your psp...it took me 4 purchase and returns to find a 1.5 when 2.0 was just released tofix the homebrew capabilities and I decided it was time to find me one. And it took what 6 months for the first downgrader to come out that went from 2.0 to 1.5. 3.x just came out what 3 weeks ago and the quickest learning about the firmware happened on the 3.x series than any other firmware! So why not stop *****ing and figure out how to do it yourself! yeah...i didn't think you could.

you sound as if there's no one doing anything for the higher firmwares. there are. just be patient. there was a time i could do nothing with my ta-082, but after time exploits were discovered enabling homebrew on my machine. plus the firmware that sony releases is in response to homebrew, patching up exploits that were previously discovered in past firmware releases. so it is difficult and definately takes time to hack them. if you're not happy with the progress then you try picking up a psp and hack it yourself

According to DCEMU this version of devhook removes the requirement to flash to flash! :O WOOOWEEE! I'm guessing that by flashing it will run a bit quicker like the .46 but, that should definitely be added to the features list.. According to The_Ultimate_Eggman "Here is update to boosters devhook from what i can find out all features as per previous release but without the need of having to write files to flash"

Why suggest updating?

If the previous versions work fine, why recommend the update? Its not a good thing to be the guinea pig for an unsupported application. Booster does great work, but updating just to have the latest version doesn't make too much sense. If you ask me, only update when a new version has features/bugfixes that you need.

Gosh, I feel like I'm late for prom- I started with 1.5 and have been enjoying all the emulators like NES and SNES- Then I haven't played my PSP for a long time.. My question is if this is what ables 1.5 PSP to play games with higher fw like 2.8 I'm talking about playing actual UMD games. I want to buy games but do not want to sacrifice emulators. Is this what enables your psp playing latest games with latest firmware while staying in 1.5? Appreciated

That that's because of regional firmware differences.... I have Japanese 1.5 firmware on my PSP, and when I loaded 2.0+ on devhook, it changed (I think I was using US firmware...). Otherwise it might have just switched after 1.5x... Anyone confirm this?

You should be able to run games that require firmware above 1.5 by selecting UMD Disc or something similar when selecting the ISO... or at least, that's how I remember getting my sister's LocoRoco game to work.

If you bothered to look in the forums you would find all the info you need for pretty much anything you want to do to your psp. But you can't do anything to your 3.0x PSP. So all you can do now is wait or just return it to where you got it from and then try and get one off e-bay that has 1.5 on it. Not trying to be mean or anything but it isn't very wise to come to website and insult the people that you are asking for help from. Just be calm about it and there may be a downgrader for your PSP one day but not anytime soon as there isn't even one for 2.8 yet. Your best bet would be to take my suggestion above and return it to the store and if you can't just return it to gamestop and get some money for it and go on e-bay to get a new one.

Dear Booster

For the sake of god man, get rid of the stupid ass need for flashing flash1 with config for this sh1t to work. I got it to work once without the need to flash flash1, but all times since it will not start, it just blackscreens and shuts off when you boot 301 or 302. It starts 2.71 perfectly fine. What's the freaking deal with the need to flash the config file? Is this something to do with the way 3.xx does startup checks or what? BTW, if you can't read english, maybe it's time to learn so that you can actually read everything the public is stating about your prog here. Don't get me wrong, it's a GREAT prog, but there are a few glitches with it and it could use some fixes. Most people don't want to deal with flashing the nand... even if it's F1. Because of this I think you should seriously think about a design change in that respect. If 2.71 starts with .51 without the need to flash F1 so should the other 2 firmware versions. Just my thoughts. Also, the CORRUPT GAME data when running the latest firmware versions. WELL, THAT'S JUST BULLSH1T! No one's going to want to run the latest versions firmware if it's going to do that to all of their save games. That is a major issue right now. That and the "I don't want to be stable on startup crap".

You're not doing anything wrong. Sometimes the install just doesn't take or the dump doesn't take and it behaves like this. There's no rhyme or reason to it as of yet. This is what I was talking about in my post above. People call it stable, but it's not. Right now, 2 MAJOR problems. 1) Corrupt game data. 2) Will not always start. Thumbs down from me until these 2 are fixed. Good new is that 2.71 boots fine with .51 so there's really no need to run .46 at all like some people do. Just copy the 271 folder contents from a working .46 install and put it in the 271 folder on your .51 install. Then just choose 2.71 from the firmware menu. It starts like a champ each time... no probs with that. It's just the new 3.xx sh1t that's unstable.

The sh1t don't work per your writeup above. Not flashing sh1t or anything. You do all that and start it and it gets to reboot and goes blank and then poweroff. DOES NOT REBOOT PROPERLY. After reboot command it normally pauses a split second and then starts reading the ms... in the case of 2.71 from .51 it does this fine. With 3.xx it doesn't. Like I said, I got it to work once... never again. It's unstable bullsh1t at the moment.

Dont know if everyone with 2.71 SE C and devhook 0.510 is experiencing the same random hangs when a games up and running! I'm using CSO files. these new games freeze randomly during playing! WWF 2007 Brothers in arms DDay Metal gear solid portable ops A game can run for quite some time, then bump! it just freezes! think I'll go back to my old setup, I've never seen such messy devhooks. I know its a Beta but boy its a *****! I'd rather Booster keep his releases under wraps until they are complete, things are getting released by the day and they are clearly not ready! the scenes getting very messy, and people are getting mightly confused! calm the releases until they are complete and easy to install. Well working guide

Here's what to do if you don't want to flash config files: - Download: DH v0.5101,Eboot v3.02.pbp, DH FW installer 3.02 - Place first all of the DH v.051 in the MS_Root that will be: FMB,DH,PSP - Place the v3.02 eboot.pbp in the MS_Root and call it EBOOT.PBP VERY IMPORTEND. - Place the two folders from the DH FW installer v3.02 in the map: x(that's your PSP)/PSP/Game/ - Enable USB mode and go to you MS onder Game and open the DH FW installer 3.02 it will load than press 'CROSS' it will make the files compateble with DH. - When that's done you can go to DH v.051 and load it set your FW to 3.02(MS or MS+Flash 1). WITH THIS PROGRAM YOU DON'T HAVE TO FLASH CONFIG FILES FROM DH TO YOUR FLASH1:D. And press start it will load and you see everything works fine accept there was a button swap with O,X but than can you change with a editor that's avaieble at the forums it is called DH 0,51 REG hope I helped you guys enough.

Dude, it took me all of a couple of hours to find out about the psp toolchain and cygwin in order to start working on psp homebrew. I'm telling you, finding ways to hack a system that has gone through countless revisions in order to prevent such a thing from taking place is not an easy thing to do. My buddy upgraded to 2.71 a while back before he found out about homebrew and I had to convince him for a month to not update his firmware. Lo and behold a dowgrader appeared through a tiff exploit and his patience payed off. Truth is, a downgrader will appear when life allows someone to put in the many man hours to find the cracks. Be patient, don't update, and maybe you'll get lucky. Thats all anyone can tell you. If you need a forum for that then make one.

I have custom firmware SE-B (no dashes). I used the easy installer that popped up on the site this week, and as expected it was easy as hell to install. Now, even if I used an EBOOT coming from the european yourpsp.com it seems like the PSP still gets the X and O buttons switched. Perhaps this could be that the 3.02 versions on the european sites are JAP versions as well. Anyhow, I read somewhere that the registry files for 3.02 could be removed from the memorystick flash1 folder, in order to let it rebuild those settings again (that would have it switch the buttons). So I did that and when I booted up 3.02 under devhook I got the BSOD as expected, but when I pressed the button, that damned firrmware seems to have written stuff to my real flash 1. Ok, the PSP wasn't bricked or anything,. but it has caused a strange efffect. I am no longer able to set the wallpaper background when under 2-71 SEB. If I either do a quick power off or full power off the system starts up with a black background. It doesn't seem to be able to save the wallpaper to my flash1 any longer. Has anyone got any idea how to fix this?

I've follow the guide properly and still behaves the same way it just shows some configuration message on-screen and then reboot I'm still grateful for all previous versions. does anyone have a full package installation where I can just copy to my memory for this new version ? perhaps I can get it to work this way.

hey ppl, i was wondering if any1 could help me out... i installed this devhook n couldnt get it working, so i uninstalled it (deleted the files off my ms).... ok, now i cant save my wallpaper (it saves but when i reboot my psp its gone again!) ...its not a big deal but this is gonna ***** me.... from what iv read its got something to do with my flash1?? im looking for a way to repair my flash1, to 2.71 (im using 2.71sec)...if i upgrade to the official 2.71fw, downgrade to 1.5 then reinstall 2.71sec will it restore my flash1, or only flash0 (i would have tried this but the generic downgrader didnt work for reason)....or is there an easier way to restore my flash1 ??

The only way I was able to fix this was to downgrade to 1.5, upgrade to 2.0 to clean my flash, downgrade back to 1.5 and then flash 2.71 SE-C (or whatever SE version u want to use)

I have followed these steps exactly 3 times now and i still end up with the same result with 5 different iso files that have proved to work on previous versions. are there any tips as to why it turns off on me when it reboots?

WTF are you talking about stringfellow?? How is playing via usb any different than loading from a memory stick?? I back up all my games and save them to my laptop, much nicer to just switch games via usb and not have to carry around all of my UMDs. Plus this allows me to put my UMDs away and not have to worry about damaging them. So quit acting like your 12, think before you speak, and just answer the damn question. And any others that can offer any help to the original question, I thank you in advance.

unless someone used version changer, there is no way in H*ll you have a 4.79 psp and probally wont untill 2008 the firmware version is only 3.2 currently so if you have a version 4.79 then it has to really be under 2.71, most likely i would say you already have a 1.5 but im not sure, on your psp go over to settings, then down to system settings, then down to restore defaults, after that go check your version again if it says 4.79 again, go back to system setting and go down to format memory stick...... now go get devhook for v1.5 psps and some other homebrew for 1.5 , try them and see if they work, if so you got a 1.5 psp, now just go download x flash 14 from dl.qj.net and go to version change and set to v1.5 save and exit from x-flash

Also making "backups" off your game to your stinking piracy den's laptop is consider illegal too. PSP games are ONLY meant to STAY ON THE UMD disc. and are NOT ALLOWED to be transferred, copy, conver, etc. to ANY OTHER type of media that includes the Memory Stick genius! and it went away when i change the Address were the Devhook is load. Don't know if it works for everyone but i just wanted lo let you know.

im running hen c or d...idk...and i cant open devhook 0.51....from psp 2.71....so i use my old devhook(0.4x) to go to 1.5 then i open the 0.51....try to run it and it dont work...i unpacked data psar....i deleted the the lflash_fat.prx thing...when i got to 0.51 i select fw 3.02 but when it boots up again frm devhook i see the same old 1.5 i turn my psp on and off and the same ***** happens

Heya. I've been using DH0.44 and all increments up to the recent DH0.51.01. someone suggested I changed to DA's 3.02 OE-A which I did today, then shortly after I applied the OE-B (which actually doesn't apply to me as I don't have a PS3) and I have to say I have been blown away. I thouhg tit risky putting on an actual modified firmware but for me and my two sons (who also have PSP's) I updated first mine then theirs and I am veeeery impressed. A full 3.02 firmware with all the trimmings PLUS a DeviceHook integrated inside it which makes all iso's/cso's available straight from the MS menu under GAME. do it guys, make the change - you won't regret it! I used a 2gb High Speed Sony card (formatted) and just ran a full installer which runs from Windows and does it all for you (except the bit you have to do from the PSP menu of course!) Good luck!
