Devhook 0.51 released - 3.01 PSP Firmware emulation! |

Just a few short days after the landmark release of Devhook 0.50, Booster has once again updated Devhook to v0.51. And the amazing new addition in the latest version is nothing less than 3.01 emulation! While people couldn't have been happier, it was, in a way, expected after the original fireworks by none other than the Noobz crew.
While this should result in a lot of tinkering by everyone, for now, you probably will be able to check out PS1 games on your PSP if you're one of the lucky ones to have a PS3. Luckily, we do have a PS3 here at QJ and will be documenting all of our experiences. Watch out for them in the near future!
Anyways, I can bet that you'll all be dying to try this out. Well, what better than to link to our forums with a tutorial. And while it says that it's for Devhook 0.50, I've already confirmed that the same steps will work, even for the latest devhook. Finally, here's the latest release of Devhook and its respective SDK.

Is this DH-file a full install, or do I need to have another DH pre-installed on my MS? And if so which one is nessecary/best, also in regards to ISO/CSO compability?
Currently SE-C newly formated MS, No DH installed.

Works perfectly on 2.71SE-C. Just have to decrypt the 3.01 PSAR File with X. After that move the F0 Folder into dh/3.01/ . Start the Devhook, whrite the files to the Flash and it's done. Have fun!

i know this is really a point less question to ask you but how exactly do you decrypt it step by step so people with 2.71 wont have to down grade there psp's, ty for this discovery but how exactly do you do it step by step, plz comment to this.

How's the stability and compatibilty with this new Devhook? Will this let me play SOCOM FTB 2 online? If so, I might have to pick that up.

I tried the visual player with one of my mp3s and it works fineeeee, and you can clik select while u browse ur music and still see the visual player..
Socom2 working fine, but when i press home to go back to the xmb it turned off, remember it is still a beta

but first as it is installed:
Devhook 0.51 Install Guide with 3.01
This is a step by step guide for installing the new Devhook 0.51 along with 3.01 firmware.
1. Remove all previous devhook files from your memory stick.
2. Copy the devhook 0.51 package to the root of your memory stick. This would be ms0:/ and the three folders should be "dh", "PSP" and "fbm".
3. Download the 3.01 update.
4. Get PSARDumper.
5. Extract the DATA.PSAR from the 3.01 update you've downloaded with a program such as PBP Unpacker. Once thats done, copy the DATA.PSAR over to the root of your memory stick.
6. Run PSARDumper on your PSP, once its loaded up press X to dump a sigchecked 3.01. Once its done your PSP will return to the main menu.
7. Open up your memory stick, you will now see that there is an "F0" folder in the root. Move that to the "301" folder inside of "dh".
8. Launch up devhook and go to "FLASH ROM" settings, choose install dh to flash1. DO NOT touch any of the other settings unless you know what you're doing. Please note that if you used a previous devhook version that installed to flash1, you should use the "uninstall DH files from flash1" option before doing this.
9. Finally, choose "FIRMWARE" from the devhook menu and pick 3.01. Now start devhook and you should be good to go!

4)wound when return on xmb 3.01 Psp Block in black screen.
5)Psp Emulator - For now it is not known how it works.
6)Browser - not tested.
7)2.71 Save non loan in 2.82 or 3.01 (say "save Currupt).
I'am hope in new Full devhook and not beta version.
as far as the rumors ive heard he is gone. but maybe due to all these great accomplishes that Booster and everyone is making then maybe he will return with a 3.00 SE ^^ lets keep our fingers crossed!!!

Wait, so does this mean TA-082 have no hope currently? I know some other devhooks can be run under 2.71(normal). WOuld these people have to devhook to 1.5 then devhook back up to 3.01?
Ha, the psp community builds me up than brings me down. First xloader allows homebrew 2.80. I taste the goodness of homebrew, but i hunger for more. PSX emulators only work on 1.5, now this.

Was someone here able to look the system settings with 3.01 emulation? When I select system settings from XMB, the screen becomes blue and PSP shuts down.

how do you make this work on 1.5? i put all the files in the ms of my psp but it doesn't load all the way.
This is the best thing to happen to the psp community in a long time. I mean now when I get my ps3 i can use remote play. Also I can now brag and say that I have the same firmware as you and all the people who updated can get mad. Great job booster, and keep up the good work.

You need the 3.01 firmware dump with reboot.bin.
Use the psar dumper to generate all of the files.

1)CPU speed over 222/111 MHz will corrupt Wifi scanning.
2)Some game like Platypus.iso will show "Load failed. The data is corrupted. [80110306]" but ignoring the error will eventually be playable. Exiting this game sometime will freeze the screen.

got it. It works great it emulates the full 3.01 firmware. When you press select once in 3.01 a new menu comes up were you can choose to load the umd or clock speed or change to a different iso. You can also choose to launch this menu automatically when you launch devhook. The only problem so far is when I quit a game my psp turns off, freezes or goes back to 3.01 just fine. Also some games says the data is corrupted when I try and load it.
I just put back on devhook 0.46 and my ford street racing game loaded fine but on 0.51 it said the game save is corrupted so yeah I will leave 0.51 for now.
The menu is set out like this
vshex DEVHOOK SETTINGS MENU
UMD IMAGE (left or right to pick isos or umd
CPU CLOCK (left or right to change clock speed)
UMD SFO VER_ (dpad to change)
MENU on BOOT (no buttons appear to work here)
PRELOAD_ADDR (dpad to change)
FIRMWARE (Mine says not supported)
REMOTE PORT Mine says not supported)
ESCAPE the DEVHOOK (brings you back to 1.50)
CLOSE MENU
I'm not sure what all of the options do though.
I prefered on devhook 0.46 the home + L and R to change games and I preferred the home + start to go back to 1.50

I can confirm that you can now play socom ftb2 online. It will ask you to update, but don`t worry, it only updates the game software, NOT your firmware.

if you have 2.71 SE C make sure you move these files from GAME folder to the GAME150 folder, if you havn't got a GAME150 folder create it!
if you try running devhook 0.51 and these files are in your GAME folder your PSP will freeze with the PSP boot up logo with white background.

i figured that much out i got all the nessicary files but when i boot up dev and try to load 3.01 firmware it freezes. i didnt think about potential problems with a beta version so i changed the setting to well what i thought it would be. another question if i find a friend with a ps3 will i be able to download and play psx games now no rush on that but ill keep trying to get it to work if anyone hasnt changed the settings could u tell me what they are default

Yeah, right now DevHook .51 is pretty useless if you still have to use .46 to play your old games. Freaking stupid! This is why it's called a BETA. Why release something that's full of bugs? I don't get it... what's out there right now that requires 3.01 to play. Not much, if any!
george make sure you have put dehook 0.51 in your game150 folder not in your game folder, imade same mistake!

Can somebody help me out here? I got it to work and all but each time I shutoff my PSP and restart Devhook, I have to re-enter all of my system settings (WiFi Connections, Name & Time etc) from scratch. Is this happening to anybody else?

upgrade your firmware to official 2.71. then use homebrew enabler revision d (HEND) to downgrade back to 1.5 official. from there, flash forward to 2.71 SE-C, which will put you up to date. i followed this process and it worked fine for me starting from 2.70.

When u choose FLASH INSTALL>"install configfile to flash1:, nothing wrong. What u see (devhook isn't installed in flash0: and devhook isn't installed in flash1:) mean your PSP onboard memory doesn;t contain any dh folders/files(which is ok).
just press "CIRCLE" button and hold it to start.
After that continue with the tutorial.

It's probably more easyer than 2.82. You don't need to audio.prx if you follow harddrives tutorial. And yes, you do need the new devhook(just delete the dh folder of your psp, it saves space and time.)

Alright, I dumped F0 making sure I hit X, and copied the f1 file from my 282 (which happens to work perfectly mind you) to my 301 folder; i don't end up having to flash anything to the psp's memory at all. I get 3.01 to boot up and everything works fine, the internet and everything. Thing is, when I try to load an iso, it gets stuck at the PSP screen and won't even play my coustom gameboot...any suggestions?
I run multiple fw using devhook051. Confimed that 3.01 emu has this error but when I emulate 2.82 using same dh051, it works fine. Dun worried. Booster will fix it. Cheers !

Choose FLASH INSTALL again den "install cinfigfile to flash1:". Read the last 2 lines in RED. It says "Press CIRCLE button and hole 1seconds to start". Do that. After that choose START DEVHOOK.

First of all, ty to Booster for this work of genius, and ty to QJ for hosting it.
I have a PS3 60G, and I have confirmed, after setting all of the settings correctly, that Remote Play does, in fact, work. The only problem that I've run into, is you have to use the "HOME" button on the PSP to exit, set response time, and use the "PS" button. Well, Devhook has replaced "HOME" with it's own menu.
Does anyone know a way to get around this? Right now, I have to shut off the WLAN connection in order to exit, and I cannot use any of the other 2 options. It's not a real biggie, but it would benifit PS3 Remote users, such as I.

Well i got it to load the XMB and i can edit stuff and then switch it off and it saves correctly but when trying to play a game it just freezes at the white PSP screen and then it dies and shuts off.
I'm using standard PSP with 1.50. oh well still quite chuffed i managed to get it to boot.

A few months ago I successfully managed to downgrade my PSP to 1.5 from 2.6 using Devhook which was great until I got vice city now I want to use this updated Devhook so that I can play the game and use all this wonderful new stuff but how do I go about installing this. Wondering, has anyone gotten games like Star Trek Tactical Assault to work under 3.01 emulation with this? The font patch never worked for me under 2.71SE-B'', and I couldn't get DH 0.50 to run 2.82 emulation to try it but I have to assume it had problems there too. Also, I have WMA playback and Flash Playback enabled on my 2.71SE-C FW, how do I transfer that enabler over to the 3.01 Emulated FW?

I select the cso in devhook and the cso game shows up (starwars), i have a umd in the slot (GTA), i press x to start and hear the umd click (as before with older devhook) but then it frezzes on the start screen
does anyone know what is required to play narutimate hero 3? (which fw/iso/dh settings/etc...)
If i hold circle and actually go on with it is there any chance that i can brick my psp?
My emulated 3.01 has a slight error init. weneva it reboots or i end a game it goes to the setup menu everytime just as you get when you first turn on the psp for the first time.

try flashing configfile to flash1 twice this will solve the problem.
step by step:
1. uninstall DH files from flash1
2. install configfile to flash1
and again
3. install configfile to flash1

U can port the older dh to dh051.
For example, u can put 271 folder from dh046(most stable to date) to 271 folder of dh051 but u can't use dh051 eboots. So u gotta put dh046 eboots (something and something%) to dh051.
Currently I have dh051 to emulate 2.71, 2.82 and the 3.01 fw.

Brick basically means that u touch the flash0 n u dunno wat u r touching.
flash1 doesn't contain any critical prx files. so even u erase the whole f1 folder yr psp still function.

first turn off your psp and remove the battery.
second get a lighter aand put it over the battery so that it heats up.
third put the battery back in delete every thing in on your psp.

first of all, Thankx to Booster for making a BIG return to the scene and sets another landmark in psp history! I still haven't try this out but I did try dh 0.50 before and successfully emulated fw 2.82. (I've been using dh 0.45 untill now btw). Is it true that this is still a BETA release? if it's so, it will be improved right? I had some problems playing some ISOs like sonic rivals on dh 0.50 but everything went fine using 0.45. also, the dh menu that already being changed in 0.50 and 0.51 by just pressing HOME...this somewhat 'disturbing'. I'm not saying that I hate it, but I prefer HOME+L or R and HOME+SELECT and HOME+START like before. I also love to take screenshots and there is still nothing like that for this release. so, I'm back to 0.45 hoping for a 'complete' 0.51 to come! I know 0.50 and 0.51 is different from 0.46 and below as it needs to flash something into psp's f1. but come on Booster, u can do something about the menu and iso compatibility right? you're the man!! (also asking for the screenshot functionality if that's not too much!!) (^3^)/

I found the bug that is responsible for dh051 being initiate the the initial setup n erase all your settings in 3.01 everytime u exit devhook.
The bug is a file called init.dat. It's located in ms0:>dh>301>f1>registry>init.dat (delete this file).
After u delete it, your dh051 will never show that initial setup sequence anymore n will remember all your 3.01 settings.

i tried making a new dump didnt work i tried taking off all my plugins though it did speed up my psp a bit didnt work and then i finally looked through all my files till i saw that fbm folder was empty i guesss when i copied it it didnt take the files along with it, well its working now and 2.82 can play games but cant detect any connections cause of an internal error so its pretty much a 1.5 sigh oh well wait it plays 1.0 games to so its like a 1.25 er sumthin thanks BOOSTER its really good to have u back. im playin mario 3 on my psp fer u buddy

I select start and the PSP goes and comes up with "Reboot System" and then the PSP stays on for awhile with a blank screen then switches off.

i got 3.02, had my damn psp on network update and was playing MOH Heroes exited the room, my lil bro got on the psp and updated... with devhook will i be able to play MOH heroes? and where do i get iso's from, sorry for this noobishness... any help will be greatly appreciated though..
This is useless, i follow all these instructions and it doesn't work. I Select firmware 3.01, click start devhook, and i see some text saying it is rebooting the firmware, then the screen goes black and my psp turns off :( followed every single instruction there.
So say im on dark alex's custom firmware and i like all the bells and whistles of it ( no Sony screen, automatic dev hook boot) does this psar dumping and whatnot write over the custom firmware? or do i follow the instructions like everyone else and itll work?

you cant, you have to have firmware 1.0 or 1.5 or 2.71 with the dark_alex special edition
I have a 32mb stick (for another week...ugh) so I had a friend help me to use the dumper on his, so we get the F0 files and i do everything it asks, and after starting devhook it acts as though it's going to do it, then it doesn't reboot my computer, just turns off...Does dumping it have to be done on the device itself?

Hi, I used this program to boot a CSO file of Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops. Everything seemed fine, except that the autosave feature doesn't seem to be functioning. I can create a save file at the very beginning but thats all. Every time I leave the game and return to it, the game loads from the very beginning where the game first created the save file. If anyone can offer an explanation or remedy for this problem, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance for any responses.

I don't think a downgrade is there this is just a beutiful secound coming of homebrew PSP. If I'm not mistaken I coulda gone back to emulating nintendo and Maniac Mansion on my PSP!! BUT NO!! I had to update...... the internet would cry for me but its to busy laughing. Good new is I can warn my buddy not to update.

This seems a real strange problem!
I have used PSP Brew to extract DATA.PSAR and copied it to root of memory stick.
When running PSAR Dumper from PSP/GAME150 folder (as I have 2.71SEC) it starts then reports "ERROR: Can't find DATA.PSAR in top folder of memory stick"
I know it's there. I've tried deleting and re-copying. I've also tried extracting direct from PSP Brew to PSP via USB to eliminate the risk of Windows doing anything silly to the file.
Any ideas anyone? I'm stumped!
Im using 2.71SE.C but I was just thinking would it be posible to make an 2.71SE update.pbp to update say, a 2.5 or 2.60 to the SE firmware with out having a 1.5, do you know what I mean, like when you do a normal sony update but with a hacked one. Just wondering.

I appreciate the nice tutortial, i got it first try..i think. ok it sais I have 3.2 fireware in system settings, not sure if this is right. I also still have the other devhook installed which i got early last while. Do I delete the other devhook i got? Second question, how to play games still, do i use USBhostfs still, or do i need a different version now? Because the one im using now isn't reading the newest version of devhook, any one able to clarify my issues, im drained out. Thanks alot eh
I have v3.01, Im so lost at te moment, when i try to istall the PSAR.DATA file i get an error, I tried to install the DevHook installer for v3.02 and i get a data corrupt error on that, and the devhook program as well if you dont care can you send me an email to cowtipinchicken @gmail.com so I know what to do.
