Davee has new Kernel exploit, PSP 3000 HEN coming soon? |
Ó
The homebrew scene is buzzing wild again as Davee reveals at the MforMature Forums that he's got a new Kernel exploit, working on a new homebrew enabler, and he's looking forward to release it before Tuesday. If this is true, we might be looking at a new HEN for the PSP-3000.
So says Davee on his forum post:
HEN will be a stripped down enabler lacking many features of M33 custom firmware. It'll allow the bootup of homebrew regardless but may be restrictive to certain applications (in cases where it will not boot at all). However, applications will be released to enhance the HEN such as the loading of M33 custom firmware when I get permission to use the modules.
As another note, the conditions of the TIFF exploit as very unstable (as you might have noticed) and flashing of modules to flash0 is improbable and will load off the memorystick. An eboot will be supplied to countervent this and will flash the modules in a more stable enviroment.
Release is currently unconfirmed but will be before Tuesday.
For now, all eyes are one Davee as he works on the much-desired HEN. Lots of anticipation building up, so you better stay on your toes and keep checking back with us for more news and updates.
Is this the "awesomeness" that MaTiAz was talking about? Or does he have other "awesomeness" to release?

It's our last chance at reviving the PSP and making it the #1 handheld that it is. All you damn CFW users want to do is pirate PSP games...IT'S CHASING AWAY THE DEVELOPERS!!! CAN'T YOU STUPID PIRATES SEE THAT?? [sob sob]
LEAVE THE PSP-3000 ALOOONE!!!
Everyone knows that CFW is mainly used to steal games. Why would PSP-3000 users want to buy games when they could just download them for free?! THAT'S WHY WE DON'T SEE ANYMORE NEW BIG GAMES! YOU F**CKING CUSTOM FIRMWARE USERS KILLED THE PSP!
[sob sob] The PSP is dying. It's dying because of YOU CHEAP THIEVING BASTARD! Leave it alone. [sort sob]

Just kidding, HEN= Homebrew Enabler.

But think about the homebrews, do you expect the psp fat had the ability to use it as a control? Jeez dude, thank those people who did these homebrews, Cfw. They are doing this for free.
I'm grateful that we don't have to pay anything for these kidns of M33 Updates and sort.

The most we'll get from this will the same as the 2.80 days, lots of Pong and Tetris clones. Still, not bad at all and it's always a step forward.
Then all these noobs can go and load their downloaded CSOs from public torrent sites while all the old 1000-series farts hang their heads in shame.

i know alot of people that are waiting for the psp 3000 to get hacked before they buy one including me not so we can download games but so we can use homebrew
the homebrew devs make things sony hasn't even thought about let alone made for the psp like psptube or that homebrew internet browser that lets you use the full advantage of the psps ram on the internet and theres even a homebrew text reader Homebrew rocks sony should welcome Homebrew it would even up there sales

I also loved the 1.50 PSP. I remember the MS swap method. Ahh the good ol days.

Remember there are some big PSP titles close to release such as Motorstorm: Arctic Edge, Little Big Planet, FTB3, Rock Band: Unplugged, Monster Hunter Freedom: Unite and much more. Check out the PLAY.COM PSP preorder Chart.
If Sony are so bothered they should design there firmware more carfuly (Although hacking electronics and discovering exploits will always be around)

Stupid argument that hold no water. DS sales have pretty much topped the charts all along - flashcards are _by far_ much simpler & easier (making it much easier to pirate games if one was so inclined). Yet, strangely enough, DS sales & DS game sales are relatively unaffected.
The PSP is dying because Sony isn't supporting it. Pure and simple. And don't give me that crap... "But Sony is releasing 2 games this month". The DS sees at least 20 game releases per month giving people a lot more choices.
Sure... it's a chicken-and-egg thing -- which comes first the game system or the games? But when the core developer has pretty much turned it back on the system, don't expect other companies to develop games for it.

That aside, everyone is saying that ISOs shouldn't be allowed because they instantly mean piracy. I, for one, have a REALLY good reason for wanting ISOs to work on the 3000. I'm working on a game translation, and without being able to run ISOs you CAN'T use the translation. I do agree that piracy is bad on the PSP, and I can see it causing developers to be reluctant to develop for the PSP. But I have experienced first hand some people who can't hack there PSP, and the only reason they want to is to use the translation that I'm a part of (It's a Haruhi game, it hits a small nitch). The person I was helping didn't even know what they were doing, they were just following my directions. I have sent the stuff needed to hack a PSP to people, trying to help them so that they can use this translation when it is finally done, only to find out it isn't possible (because they had a 88v3 mobo, which I somewhat expected, though I did tell them to not upgrade their firmware).
I agree that piracy is bad, especially when it is so rampant and easy as it is on the PSP. But there are other uses for being able to run ISOs, even if they are very minor. I do agree also that the ability to use translations doesn't really outweigh the damage done by piracy, but I still hope that ISOs eventually work on the 3000. Take what you will from my mini-rant, but I would still love to see the 3000 completely hacked, whether it be through a custom firmware (highly unlikely, Sony fixed the bug that was exploited for CFW to work), or a full HEN.

i found the best way to get the exploit is to put it in a folder instead of dropped straight into the photo folder (mines in j:\psp\photo\sl im\slim.tiff
the tiff will come up as a box icon instead of a thumbnail
you dont need any other pictures in there or go up and down a list of photos, just put in into another folder and it should work

If you had a PSP-3000 yourself, of course you would want to get it hacked like most people, aye?
And I don't even have one.

and if you read me call you a noob and blather on and on about how you have been on the scene a long time, you have obviously not been on the internet long, noob means your stupid, newb means your new to whatever the subject is about ...noob

Now, to everyone else saying, "Games will be made no matter what, look at all the big titles we're getting!" ..No kidding. So we get 6 major titles this year... Great, but what about the other companies that may have contributed? You don't know who would have made what if they feel threatened. Now don't get me wrong, I don't want the PSP's library to turn into a crap fest of shovelware, like "Pony Diaries," and "Big Mama's Cooking" or whatever, just saying you don't know what could have been.

And for you wankers crying about piracy... the #1 handheld (NDS) happens to be the worst victim of piracy. And it's still far from dead

FrozenIpaq posted an update
Update 4/21/09: It will not be released tonight (9:30PM EST as I'm writing this) and Davee will be gone for a good portion of the end of the week so there is no idea as to a new potential release date. We all ask for your patience as we work through these moments of anticipation and excitement.
NOTE: Davee and crew have been hard at work on getting HEN for us however they have ran into quite a few problems and have been working diligently to solve them. We ask for your patience at this time, we do not have an estimate for the release date (Davee originally said "by Tuesday" but that was before the complications arose). We will update you on any progress we get notified of!
