Davee has new Kernel exploit, PSP 3000 HEN coming soon?

PSP 3000 - Image 1

The homebrew scene is buzzing wild again as Davee reveals at the MforMature Forums that he's got a new Kernel exploit, working on a new homebrew enabler, and he's looking forward to release it before Tuesday. If this is true, we might be looking at a new HEN for the PSP-3000.

So says Davee on his forum post:

HEN will be a stripped down enabler lacking many features of M33 custom firmware. It'll allow the bootup of homebrew regardless but may be restrictive to certain applications (in cases where it will not boot at all). However, applications will be released to enhance the HEN such as the loading of M33 custom firmware when I get permission to use the modules.

As another note, the conditions of the TIFF exploit as very unstable (as you might have noticed) and flashing of modules to flash0 is improbable and will load off the memorystick. An eboot will be supplied to countervent this and will flash the modules in a more stable enviroment.

Release is currently unconfirmed but will be before Tuesday.

For now, all eyes are one Davee as he works on the much-desired HEN. Lots of anticipation building up, so you better stay on your toes and keep checking back with us for more news and updates.

Is this the "awesomeness" that MaTiAz was talking about? Or does he have other "awesomeness" to release?

Got your TIFF exploit yet?

Well it says in the post, "HEN will be a stripped down enabler lacking many features of M33 custom firmware." So I'm guessing it's a homebrew enabler, just like what the tiff exploit was way back then.

It might load up something like devhook, but doubt it. And even if it does, youll only be able to play older games back from the 2.00 days, because it hasnt been updated for a long time. But eventually it will be able to install and load CFW.

It's our last chance at reviving the PSP and making it the #1 handheld that it is. All you damn CFW users want to do is pirate PSP games...IT'S CHASING AWAY THE DEVELOPERS!!! CAN'T YOU STUPID PIRATES SEE THAT?? [sob sob]

LEAVE THE PSP-3000 ALOOONE!!!

Everyone knows that CFW is mainly used to steal games. Why would PSP-3000 users want to buy games when they could just download them for free?! THAT'S WHY WE DON'T SEE ANYMORE NEW BIG GAMES! YOU F**CKING CUSTOM FIRMWARE USERS KILLED THE PSP!

Right we dont see any new games like FTB3 about to come out, do we? Resistance Retribution was released not too long ago, dont forget about that. Games will be released, because without games, Sony doesnt sell PSP's. And CFW is about a lot more than pirating games. You cant use PSPTube or irSHELL to pirate games, and those are just 2 of the most popular homebrews WHICH REQUIRE CFW to use them. So until Sony enables homebrew on the next generation of PSP's, why are you crying about cfw users. CFW makes the PSP the #1 handheld that it is

But think about the homebrews, do you expect the psp fat had the ability to use it as a control? Jeez dude, thank those people who did these homebrews, Cfw. They are doing this for free.

I'm grateful that we don't have to pay anything for these kidns of M33 Updates and sort.

An application like DevHook would be unable to load because I think it's ran under kernel mode, and not user mode, which is what HEN ran under. Also, there might be hardware limitations set on the processor like the 2000 series which kept it from running firmwares under 3.60, so the 3000 might be unable to run firmwares under 4.20.

The most we'll get from this will the same as the 2.80 days, lots of Pong and Tetris clones. Still, not bad at all and it's always a step forward.

Then all these noobs can go and load their downloaded CSOs from public torrent sites while all the old 1000-series farts hang their heads in shame.

Hacking the PSP may be putting of the creators of games but think about how easy it is to get PC games without paying, you could get most games from torrent websites (OK some games need a product key)

Remember there are some big PSP titles close to release such as Motorstorm: Arctic Edge, Little Big Planet, FTB3, Rock Band: Unplugged, Monster Hunter Freedom: Unite and much more. Check out the PLAY.COM PSP preorder Chart.

If Sony are so bothered they should design there firmware more carfuly (Although hacking electronics and discovering exploits will always be around)

# CFW killing the PSP....PigVenus 2009-04-17 00:07
Yeah, CFW is killing the PSP just like flashcards are killing the DS....

Stupid argument that hold no water. DS sales have pretty much topped the charts all along - flashcards are _by far_ much simpler & easier (making it much easier to pirate games if one was so inclined). Yet, strangely enough, DS sales & DS game sales are relatively unaffected.

The PSP is dying because Sony isn't supporting it. Pure and simple. And don't give me that crap... "But Sony is releasing 2 games this month". The DS sees at least 20 game releases per month giving people a lot more choices.

Sure... it's a chicken-and-egg thing -- which comes first the game system or the games? But when the core developer has pretty much turned it back on the system, don't expect other companies to develop games for it.

# ISOs doesn't mean Piracy_YOUR_MOM_ 2009-04-17 00:24
For one thing, I'm not making a login to make a comment on a blog, hence the name, ignore that.

That aside, everyone is saying that ISOs shouldn't be allowed because they instantly mean piracy. I, for one, have a REALLY good reason for wanting ISOs to work on the 3000. I'm working on a game translation, and without being able to run ISOs you CAN'T use the translation. I do agree that piracy is bad on the PSP, and I can see it causing developers to be reluctant to develop for the PSP. But I have experienced first hand some people who can't hack there PSP, and the only reason they want to is to use the translation that I'm a part of (It's a Haruhi game, it hits a small nitch). The person I was helping didn't even know what they were doing, they were just following my directions. I have sent the stuff needed to hack a PSP to people, trying to help them so that they can use this translation when it is finally done, only to find out it isn't possible (because they had a 88v3 mobo, which I somewhat expected, though I did tell them to not upgrade their firmware).

I agree that piracy is bad, especially when it is so rampant and easy as it is on the PSP. But there are other uses for being able to run ISOs, even if they are very minor. I do agree also that the ability to use translations doesn't really outweigh the damage done by piracy, but I still hope that ISOs eventually work on the 3000. Take what you will from my mini-rant, but I would still love to see the 3000 completely hacked, whether it be through a custom firmware (highly unlikely, Sony fixed the bug that was exploited for CFW to work), or a full HEN.

will people just get over the whole "If you use CFW/iso's it means your a pirate" crap. Not everyone that uses Iso's have downloaded the games. it's a good way to have more than one game on the memoery card. I HATE having to bring along a case of umds everywhere i go. it's bulky and a pain in the arse. Do you all really think that piracy alone is killing the psp? if so then your deluded. Another reason, as _YOUR_MOM_ and others have said is that sony doesn't support the console anymore. psp store is full of useless crap and is bearly updated and Sony doesn't listen to it's fans when it comes to game releases (SoCom bravo 3!? for f**k sake sony give us some new games, not another bloody remake!). I've heard so many people spouting s88t like "oh the developers won't make games for the psp now because of CFW" do you know how many psp's are running CFW? well, it's certainly not enough to destroy the psp. sony have made 30 million of these things and only 250,000 odd use it. so don't blame CFW, blame sony for abandoning a perfectly great console because a fraction of them are hacked. Nintendo DS is also hack but do you see them F**king over there console, no. they release more games than ever.

Saying "fu*k sony" isn't going to solve the problem or get them to sort things out with the psp. People just need to remind them that WE are the ones buying there games/consoles and that they should start listening to us. by telling them to Fu*k themselves, sony could just turn around and say "fine, ok" and stop all support.

KylBlz, I don't think anyone can be as blunt as you. What you're saying makes no sense, do you even think before you type? Your 1000 broke.. so you bought a 3000, and you want homebrew on it. (Why you didn't just get a 2000 I'll never know, but then again I'm sure you're not that difficult to figure out, just stupid.) Also, about you "blathering on" about your noob statements... no, kid. Just no. Let it go. It's actually kind of sad how you can be showing me the difference between newb and noob and look foolish.

Now, to everyone else saying, "Games will be made no matter what, look at all the big titles we're getting!" ..No kidding. So we get 6 major titles this year... Great, but what about the other companies that may have contributed? You don't know who would have made what if they feel threatened. Now don't get me wrong, I don't want the PSP's library to turn into a crap fest of shovelware, like "Pony Diaries," and "Big Mama's Cooking" or whatever, just saying you don't know what could have been.
