CFW update via internal update feature?

Can we using the internal update feature if we are running CFW 3.90 M33? I remember them saying that all future M33 release will be done through the system update feature, thus negating the need to download and update off of the memory stick. Is this true?

I'm certainly happy that 1.50 kernel is still staying, and while devs need to give it up, 1.50 kernel is still needed for running old programs that haven't been updated for 3XX. There's not much in 4.01M33 that I can really use, so I'm going to wait for savestates before giving up the custom theme I'm using (Project Glow).

As grateful as i am for DAX and his lot making these custom firmwares, im just a wee bit disappointed with this update. We waited all this time (For 4.00 OFW, then 4.01 CFW) and there are no cool new features. I was expecting SOMETHING, seeing how Sony dropped the ball on it. I'd be happy to even hear that the Google search is gone But ah well, at least we're getting continual updates and fixes, so that in itself is pretty awesome. Keep up that CFWing, DAX

In-Game-Xmb

This is just an idea and I don't have the programming skills to do it, so don't flame me about this. After seeing how irShell allowed people to access a sort of in-game shell that actually worked very nicely allowing people to listen to music during games and such, I think In-Game Xmb might be a possibility for PSP. I realize this is very far-fetched and I have know idea how (code wise) it would be done, but considering the extra ram of the slim, Utopia coming out, and built in In-XMB Recovery on the horizon, I think this would be a great new goal for D_A with his new Custom Firmwares. Once again, Just an Idea.

Didn't DAX say that he "OFFICIALLY" says bye-bye to the 1.50 kernel update? It's great that he changed his mind! PHAT rules! SLIM is cool too. Gonna update when 1.50 kernel gets released! Will the plugins like nitePR or CXMB work still??? THX DAX! :p

A little Disappointed

I expected to see more of GEN in the recovery console options. Such as all the shutdown and reset options, the option to have vsh or recovery in xmb and certainly the capability to make a pandora softmod battery. I know mny new features are expected in m33-2. I just wish DAX and team wouldn't release teasers (or demos) so to speak. I wonder if it is us (the leaching homebrew fanatics) that induce premature releases being impatient addicts that we can sometimes be. DAX, take your time, nothing beats perfection, is it worth to to say "With x amount of time of Sony releasing 4.01, hackers release a new cfw!" I dunno, guess I'll wait for the next release...patiently this time. Thanks guys...

Congratulations M33, but Sony, what the hell?

This is another great M33 release among many, and I think M33 is doing a fabulous job. However, I have no idea what Sony was thinking; all the search feature does is allow you to search via a special "Google PSP" interface, and save searches. You can already use google on the psp, and you can already save searches using the bookmarking tool. This new feature in my mind is totally useless and redundant. The video slowdown/speedup feature is only slightly useful at best. Come on sony, you can do better than this!

go right ahead. You can use the XMB eboot launcher plugin. Then You can chnage the words from Google search to PSPTube using Rcoeditor. Easy as that.

ir shell is somewhat usable.... so far ir codes work. the web browser works tho when you quit it leaves you on a black screen. you cant launch umds or any thing else for that matter. they will probably release a fix soon to make it fully compatable. i didnt test any plugins though

all the plugins that i've tested... music.prx and cfe_game and vsh.prx works fine. i haven't tried popsloader yet. i'm kinda unsure about staying on this cfw. Ir Shell was something i really enjoyed having. until things are running perfectly again, i'm going back to 3.90 M33-3. i don't care about a speed adjuster for videos. and the Internet Search is lame. all it does is keep up with your search history. if there was Youtube Search, i'd definitely stay.

I have tested all of the hb that I use. All of the plugins work.(cxmb,CFE,cwcheat, extended vsh) Also boxhead,snes9xl,deadalus,polygon wars,kurok, psp filer and wack a mole all work, Nice work Dax.

FOUND A BUG

in recovery menu/configuration the hide PIC0.PNG and PIC1.PNG in game menu option doesnt work. if you hit X on it, it just flashes and is always disabled.

Not Upgrading, Ironically from 3.95 Gen-2

While I like the 1.50 kernel support, there aren't enough features to make me want to switch away from 3.95 Gen-2, which is ironic considering people's opinions of that firmware. With Time Machine, I really like the option to pandorize/unpandorize a battery, and I love the in XMB recovery menu. I'll update to m33-2, but I like the new homebrew features more than the new Sony features, and I can understand taking your time to implement crazy new stuff like savestates. Still, great work, m33!

So $.01 M33-2 is released but does not have the extras. It's a fix for the original 4.01 m33 release. M33 Network update is working. www.dark-alex.org is back on-line however the blogs are not connecting to the back end SQL servers so no blog access. 1.50 add-on for 4.01 m33 is released. good luck all.

I can't get IR Shell working either... I had it working perfectly on 3.90 M33, but as soon as I updated to 4.01 M33, I get a black screen when I try to run it, and then the PSP shuts itself off... =/ Hope someone can figure out why some of us are having problems with it... while its working for others... maybe if people gave more details. BTW, mine is in my GAME folder... I always use GAME so I don't have to move things around between firmware updates.

when its verifying the 401.pbp, it says incorrect file. i followed the guide here and downloaded the files but i still got the same msg. im currently on 3.95 gen btw.

XMB Speed Up?

Anyone else noticed that when scrolling through the games list in the XMB, it's back to the speed it used to be? I remember since 3.5X and up the XMB would slow down slightly, and be choppy when scrolling through games. I'm sure this one is fixed, and runs much better.

SInce you upgraded to OFW 4.01, you will not be able to install CFW 4.01. Looks like you need to find a pandora battery before you can go to CFW.

Im havin trouble wit this i put the sony update 4.01 in the 4.01 M33 update folder as 401.pbp ....but when i start it the thing says game could not start and then some more stuff ...............plzzzzzzzz help meeee
