Ok guys, this is it! Homebrew developer Yoshihiro and and the rest of Team Gen has finally released the much awaited Custom Firmware 5.50GEN-D2 Quick Updater to finally fix the issues that other users have experience while installing the previous version of 5.50GEN.
CFW 5.50GEN-D2 Quick Updater changelog:
- Evangelion Anti CFW patch Fix
- Fix Wlan TKIP in game loop : pes 2009 , fifa , motorstorm , GTA cw ect....
- Fix Video Output With 5.5X and 6.X Games like GTA Chinatowns War
- Fixed recovery menu with make Pandora and make battery normal
- removed splash screen http://www.pspgen.com but you have another spash screen in red color for let you know if the decrypter work .

Are there any known problem(s) with this or what? I really want to update.
However, there are few more things i expect that should be taken care off...
1. Access to PSN store....
2. Option in VSH menu to remove/disable the splash screen.
3. MS speed patch..
4. Most of all new CFW on 6.10 kernel...

DAX included a benchmark plugin in 5.00 M33-6. Use it, noob ! And see for yourself the difference between fatmsmod and the Speed up MS access feature.
As there are still problems I think we should expect to see a GEN-E next week then a GEN-F the week after and so on.
When we see a 610GEN then I will update from GEN-B2 as everything works fine and these updates are all crap and add nothing but problems.
610CFW is the way to go but it looks like GEN don't know how to do that. If they did know then why mess with a broken CFW? Just make a 610CFW and EVERYTHING will work.

i totally agree with you NakedFaerie Gen Custom firmwares are full of bugs now that theres that gamedecrypter program that allows you to patch new games to work with 5.00m33 there really isnt a need to update people are better off staying with the actually stable 5.00m33-6
i put this message another time for you nakedfaerie : don't talk about crap there you know how create a CFW from scratch you know how many hours of works they need to resolve all nids maybe you believe just a custom ipl can do a CFW and bam ? you have a custom firmware now you can play with all your games why you asking more crap because you get it for free this cfw ? but why are you waiting for a dark_alex 6.0M33 you can continue your prayer thanks .

It's obvious these guys are noobs and are only working off of DAX's old work. They have no idea what they're really doing and can just modify Alex's work. Which is why we continually get useless updates instead of something that matters. Until we get somebody who actually knows how to decrypt firmware we'll be stuck on these stupid 5.50 patches that really do nothing.
Hopefully somebody who knows how to hack will step up and take DAX's place.

Yoshy, you need DA to make a new CFW as you cant make one yourself. If you could then you wouldn't be releasing faulty updates to a broken CFW.
If you really knew how to make a CFW then you would've released 610GEN but as its not released you don't have a clue how to make a CFW either so you can also STFU.
I'm sick and tired of updating a old CFW every week. I'm gonna stick with GEN-B2 as it works and GEN-C, D, D2 do nothing extra. All they bring are problems.
As Team GEN are the only ones making CFW these days I have no choice but use that CFW until DA comes back and makes a good CFW which GEN cant.
I am thankful to Yoshy for Game Decrypter. That is the best work he's done that I know of.
If he has anything to do with the GEN-C,D,D2 updates then I suggest he go back to making game decrypter and other apps like that.

if you've been reading around, you'd know sony has put extra securities into 6.00+ firmwares.
and like i said before on the 5.50GEND2 coming post, DAX had it sorted out, he knew how the files worked, why they are in the order they are, and how to modify certian modules to make them do what he wanted them to do.
still he had multi releases on the same firmware due to bugs and new features being added (why do you think its 5.00m33-6)

Its amazing how many people complain and whine about Gen being unstable, and wanting M33 back. When I had 5.00 m33-6 I didn't even KNOW there was a ms speed up function lol. My slim is on 5.50 gen b2 right now and I didnt know you could speed up your memory until I read some of the comments here.
Some of you are just really greedy, and don't appreciate the hard work the Gen team and Yoshihiro has done. Stop complaining and make your own CFW if you think Gen's sucks.

Use latest version of Media Go on your PC to access the PSN, i downloaded all the theme's / Video's / Games that i wanted, and it all worked perfectly on this 5.50 Gen D2 firmware.
first off a HUGE thanks for the speedy releases and update.
second a slight problem has readed its head. its GTA Chinatown Wars. it only happens if you change the ISO mode from Normal to any of the others using VSH menu.
if you DO change the ISO mode you get this:
"please wait, checking media..." then. "Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars media not found. Please re-insert media."
just use normal (UMD Required) mode and it will behave itself.
not a problem really, but i KNOW someones bound to compain about their psp not working...
Exactly. Yoshihiro rules; he invented the game decrypter so, for all of us who weren't still sure about upgrading or not from 5.00 to 5.50 GEN. I mean, he could have chosen not to do it, so more people would have downloaded GEN as an obligation, but he didn't: people can choose to continue in 5.00M33-6 with the main advantages (play all games mainly) that new GEN CFWs have. Yoshihiro is the man.
I don't really understand some people: they are saying that Dark Alex is better... etc. It's not about who is better or not; it's all about that the scene progress. Some people leaves, some people incorporates, but the scene progress. ... Otherwise it would be like have said to D.A at the time: "Hey you didn't do anything new, we could play ISOs and stuff with 1.5 firmware and devhook" that would be stupid.

Seems to me, if what you say about this guy is true, then he MUST be working for Sony in some respect, trying to piss off the Dev's of CFW....(DA on there forums) and now on this forum making sure Yoshihiro see's this, so as to piss him off to the point he gives up, so Sony win.
Now that makes a lot of sense to me, nice try (DatGoodJ + NakedFaerie, Sony) but you lose, GEN + Yoshihiro will not listen to you, no matter what you say, so go away!!!!

Anyone know if GEN (and GEN-D2 for that matter) is compatible with DAX fatms371 for 5.00M33-6? Or any other speed up MS plugging? Not really necessary, but it would be great if there was one that I can put on this great CFW. Is the difference noticeable, and does it run smoothly? Thanks in advance :)

Hey, DatCrapJ, if you don't like GEN then get lost. What are you doing here? Yoshihiro created the game decrypter, and I bet you played a game off a decrypted game. Even if they are working off Dark AleX's old work, it's no big deal. You think modifying is such an easy thing to do? Why don't you "modify" DAX's old work and try it for yourself? well if you use m33 you cant return back to GTA chinatown wars once on stand by, you have to change to the Sony NP9660 driver in order to be able to do it.n Give it a try, it works for me.

i have conducted several tests with 2 ms hacks.
FATMS and U3R2 and GEN-D. U3R2 dos nothing under GEN-D fm371.prx and fatms371_friend.prx
with the in included .bin files works... some what.
It unfortunately disables the 5.55+ decryption.
if i use the .bin files that come with GEN-D......

...except that with the Decrypter + Patcher, you can play most games that 5.50 GEN can with M33-6, with the added bonus of a Memory Stick speed that GEN can't reach (even with Fatmsmod).

That being said, the only truly unique thing right now on GEN firmware (that can't be duplicated via homebrew), is bypassing the Anti-CFW system that's set in place by...2 games (FMA + Evangelion: Jo)? Don't care for both? Then you may skip GEN and simply decrypt your games manually. Not. Much. Difference.
1. PSN Store has blocked any FW lower than 6.10 you d**k head! So there is no way of GEN making that possible right now cause this is a 5.50 CFW!
2. Just deal with it. Stop whining.
3. They said that they were going to implement this in one of their next CFWs, they never said that it was going to be for 5.50 GEN-D2 so STFU! Tired of seeing people like you always complaining.
4. Make your own CFW cause I "expect" you to make one!
using gen-d2 no problems everything I try works great, GEN Team are great
Oh, it is. I've already tried it...but I just missed the Speedup Option too much (speed - the very reason I turn UMDs into ISOs).
Don't misunderstand. GEN is not a bad firmware, and the Devs are great (especially Yoshihiro), but I was just pointing that stuff out because stinvil was practically saying that it's stupid to stay on M33 simply because GEN is newer and therefore better. Definitely wrong.
Works perfectly, except for some graphic glitches when running Armored Core 3. Can't wait for P3P!

well well well.. im sticking with m33 as m33 is the best CFW out there.. as for the game that cant be play on m33 its not a big deal.. i can just use the EBOOT EXCHANGE that made by the same code that made the Gpsp Kai emulator.. it can decrypt & patch the eboot within the PSP in ISO/CSO so u wont have to extract & copy & paste & do a lot of crappy things.. m33 the best with stability & speed!! m33 Rulez!!!

Not perfectly, to be exact... It still seems to have this freezing issue when exiting filer.

I'm not sure if this has been discussed, but I have my router (normally) set to WPA-Auto-Personal, which allows for both TKIP _and_ AES. I find that with it set to this setting, 5.50 Gen-D2 cannot connect, nor with WPA2-Personal, which is straight AES. With WPA-Auto-Personal (TKIP+AES), it can find it, and attemp to connect, but it fails when testing with an error, "connection error (FFFFFFFF)", whereas with straight AES, it says in the wireless scan results, not supported. With 5.50 Gen-B2 and before, it connects flawlessly.
Any way to fix this issue, aside from setting my router to TKIP? As I cannot speak French, I just hope they read this. Regards, props and kudos for the CFW, just the minor bugs can be annoying.
