3.02 OE-B will run your own Playstation games! |

Yes, dear readers. This would mean that you can bypass the three basic annoyances many of us would have with the PlayStation Store once OE-B is complete: having to own a PS3, waiting for Sony's PS1 releases, and paying for them. If you own, say, Final Fantasy Tactics, this should presumably allow you to play the original game on your PSP instead of waiting for The Lion War to come out. Repeat said reasoning with the games you have that still aren't available on the PlayStation Store, and you can see just how much mileage we can get from our games.
Of course, it's still a work in progress, so keep your fingers crossed and cheer Dark_Alex on. Before we go, here's a video of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (European Version) running on the work-in-progress version 3.02 OE-B... at full speed. Merry Christmas, you lucky, lucky people!

You can't flash TA-082 motherboards with custom firmware, so they can't use any of the fancy features like PSX emulation. Therefore they need a devhook that can support it if they want to.

Really.... where does this news come from? It really sounds unbelievable to me. I think SONY has to tweak every game and process it in some way for emulation on the psp. I dont believe that the 3.xx ps1 emulator is a real emulator that could run isos. I will believe when it is here.

The video is fake... if you pay attention to the background (do not look to the PSP) you can notice that when the Hot Shots game is loading, there is a change of brightness... fake ;)

This goes totally against what the community thought the Sony PS1 solution is... which is that every one of the current PS1 games released for the PSP were actually ports and not an EMU that runs an ISO of the game. So, does this DA solution mean that the "native" PS1 support of 3.02+ is an actual Sony EMU or that DA has come up with his own implementation of an EMU in the new OE-B version?

I had FW1.5 and was using Devhooked 2.71 to play all my UMDs, but only stumbled upon DaX's SE Firmware whilst desperately searching for a way to play GTA VCS without upgrading (I ALMOST DID!) Dark Alex has re-kindled my PSP Love. I was hardly using it untill 2.71 SE. Since then I've checked QJ daily, bought loads more UMDs and am constantly looking for new programs and new ways to customise it. THANK YOU DaX! *On a side note, has anyone had problems with the region select? I have a UK PSP with 3.02 OE-A, but it still can't play my US games.

For those of you who are saying that 1.5 firmware is dead or isn't as good as 3.02 OE-A (which I have installed right now) you should remember that without 1.5 firmware none of this would be possible in the first place.

This is absolutely an utterly amazing. He is a genius at coding, and I pick him as the greatest one there is. He makes the PSP scene flow so easily with every release, making countless people (like myself) just read what he has made and said, "...wow." Do you remember when he first came out with that 1.5 custom firmware that gave you Recovery Mode? I was thinking, "Hot damn that kid is awesome." Now with OE 3.02, it is everything I ever wanted in a PSP, honestly. Dark_Alex is the man, I see no one being better than him. Who here thought we could run a full speed (including sound) psx emulator of our own games this early? Obviously Dark_Alex did. Way to go man.

alright if ur using custom 3.02 OE-A u need to create a folder in PSP/GAME just name a new folder watever u like and put eboot.pbp on that folder and done
but you know....ppl comming here would probley double instantly if he started working with the ta 081 mobo...since that now is the basic system .....i got all my emulators woking with ta lets just hope i can get ps emulator to run ff7-9 omg and thank god for google.....keep up the good work DA your my heeerooo XD =P

I was wondering if the program to mod the 2.80 would work for 2.81. I didn't know how much the same 2.80 and 2.81 were. I was just wondering because I didn't want to brick my PSP.
Yea, i'm really starting to hate my ta-082 with 2.8 firmware. When i first came into the scene, i was disheartened to learn that i had a ta-082, where were supposedly death incarnate. But then i learned of HEN-D. I was lifted up, only to be dropped when i realized that i had 2.8. Even when i found out about 2.71 se and how it didn't run on ta-082, i was able to console myself by saying that it really couldn't be all that its cracked up to be. HEN-D could work just fine, i thought. And just when it seemed that i would be able to be satisified with my psp (2.8 stable downgrader in the near future), you guys drop this on me. This, i don't think i can live without. This i might have to buy a psp on ebay to get. *Sigh* and i just found out my idiot friend upgraded his non-ta082 to 3.01. I was gonna swap over christmas. Aye, so to answer your question, i beleive the answer is no, as part of what oe (and se) does is some mini/auto-devhooking to run 1.5 under 3.02 (or 3.02 on top of 1.5). As far as i know, double devhooking wouldn't work. And besides, as the person below me mentioned, it would be slow as hell.
i have the folder in game directory and put the eboot inside the new folder together with the keys.bin. i can see crash bandicoot in under game memory stick in xmb. when i run it, it only show the xmb background. can't even pass through the gameboot. just stay there. wat happen? thanks again dasda

If you used a custom gameboot it will do that. Also, sometimes it just installs funky and you gotta reinstall.
DA, your a god. i dont know what to say. i figured eventually someone would crack the KEYs needed for psx games so that we could play our own isos, but i never thought it would be so quick. it either gameboot or topmenu_plugin compatibility issue here. If u had previously flash own customised topmenu_plugin, try flash back the original plugin. it should work. well i dun think gameboot has anything to do with it.
YOU ARE... GOD!! I didn't try any of the xisting 3.0x OEs so I hope its not complicated to set up, or get PS1 games in, turning disks into ISOs is really simple, but yeah, we'll see I suppose.

Awesome, it's kind of wierd though. The PSX games for PSP aren't really emulated, they're ports. I don't understand how we will be able to port our own games.

This is some good news. I'm glad to hear about such breakthrough..but still have some questions or mainly one question. How is multi-disc games going to work? For example, ff7 at end of disc 1, how will it be switched to disc 2 without resetting the emulation so that the disc 2 can be continued on to the next one? Maybe a save file already be created so that even if disc 2 is inserted at a later time, it'll work? Well, I never have the chance to play any multi-disc games on ps1 so any answer will be welcome. Please don't flame me. Again, thanks and wonderful news..can't wait...

That seems most likely, games always ask you to save, so loading a 2nd disk up and choosing the file on the "fake" memory card for PS1 should make it run flawlessly. Im only worried about R2/L2 buttons and 2nd analog on some, but most run without it.

come on people you really think sony would rewrite all playstation 1 games? why are eboots so *****in big? its because its already in iso format hidden under an eboot. once DAX gets his ***** together we are all going to be happy people ripping our ps1 games like mad cows and buy 4 gb sticks to fit all our games on there. the only game i can think of that uses analog sticks is ape escape. man all the great classics comin to psp near you STAR OCEAN HERE I COME!
We just succeeded in dumping 3.03 today. I would recommend switching, solely because a 3.02 and below downgrader doesn't seem far off now that we know a kernal access exploit exists. All we have to do is find the exploit to tap into that. The dump will surely help! Dark Alex is experimenting constantly and Ookm the mad scientist is doing other unknown things (the master of TA-082 and the softdown). I would switch still.
finally...FF VII on my psp...iv been waiting for this since i got my psp in march 05...i have no idea how metal gear is going to work...BUT I CANT WAIT TO FIND OUT!!! PSYCO HERE I COME....AGAIN!!!!

if you think about it, this is actually a good thing ( provided people BUY the old PS1 console game) . It will give some value back to an otherwise dismissed game console and it's games. I could see myself more eagerly buying old PS1 games from a second hand store, then shelling out $499-$599 plus another $5 for each game. I can imagine $499 could buy a ton of old PS1 games ;-). Oh and I don't know if anybody said it yet, but if not I will be the first to welcome ya back DA ( It was too addictive to stay away, huh ;-) ...lol ). If you are LEGALLY and no homebrew'ing your PSP, you need a PS3 to get onto the Sony online store and buy the PS1 game. This video is a Work In Progress for the next version of 3.02 OE-B Custom Firmware. In this you can use ANY PS1 back up you currently own or have aquired under any means. I hope this information was usefull.
holy crap, I knew I shouldnt have upgraded to OE-A. It looks like they replaced the game data in the Hot Shots Golf eboot with the data from other games, making it think its a regular PSP store eboot. This is going to be the biggest day in PSP history.

You can already play MGS on devhook emulating a certain kind of firmware. A 1.5 PSP can play any UMD through devhook. These custom firmwares are pretty much the same thing but more convienient.
keep working on it. From what I've heard, the official Sony PSOne emulator isn't the greatest. Switching display modes is supposed to trigger quite a pause, and you require 1 MB free for PSOne saves. A PSX Emulator (to differentiate it from the official PSOne emulator from Sony) from homebrew developers would have features such as being able to read .MCR memory card files from PC/Mac/Linux emulators, which would make some people estatic. All I hope is that Sony wises up and creates an add-on that gives the PSP an extra analog nub and two more triggers. It's not like adding peripherals is anything new, and we know the PSP's USB jack can operate in Host Mode (PSP Camera and GPS units, anyone?).

it is just like it says play ur own ps1 games. im guessing it means you can take a ps1 game you own rip the info onto ur pc and somehow convert it to pbp so it will be playable on ur psp
This is amazing news We do need a way to play our own real psx games again on our psp without buying the same games again and needing a PS3. I think sony should have given this facility to us in the first place.....

If DAX said it I believe it, he is a great guy and I absolutely love his custom firmware. But what if some anonymous sucker posted the news and not DAX? Would not be the first time in the PSP scene. but there is now one most important. the ta-082 mobo. more n more psp now in the market r ta-082 with at least 2.80 n above. every1 knows tat ookm is the only dev capable of softdown the ic-1003 motherboard obviously using his miracle program. so i hope all devs out there try their best to crack the ta-082 n make a praticle downgrader for it. pls look at the bigger picture now. if they can't write a practical downgrader for ta-082. i believe sooner or later the psp scene will die which i dun hope to c though mine is ta-081 3.02 oe-a.

Dark_AleX is really amazing. He is like Kryptonite to Sony. Everytime they think of an angle to make money or to stop emulation and join Bush in global domination, (Look up Alex Jones, Bohemian Grove, Terrorstorm), Dark AleX comes along and makes the gaming on a purchased psp free like it should be. how to get the Hot shots 2 game of the playstation store, and its keys.bin, and put it in the same directory than popstation, renaming it from EBOOT.PBP to BASE.PBP. Even if using other ps3store game could work, it is not recommended because the program was done specifically using this one. USE HOT SHOTS 2 USA.
why isnt POPStation working for me???? I put the DLL file into the system32 folder. Will this ONLY work with Hot Shots 2?? Because I have about 3 other games =\. Other than that, The DOS window closes so fast I cannot read the file. And ive tried on 2 computers now and both DOS are doing the same thing =(

the eboot for Syphon Filter seems to work out fine.. but when I use FF7 with popstation says everything is complete. Go to play the game, doesnt start. I guess hot shot 2 is the only game that DOES work +\

When i try to convert legend of dragoon the dos windows closes so fast. I don't know why...i have this: c:/popstation/BASE.PBP (it was the eboot.pbp from hot shot 2) KEYS.bin (from hot shot 2) popstation.exe legend1.iso And i put the cygwin1.dll into windows/system.... what could the problem be? :S
On Custom Firmware 3.02 OE-B will the vice city stories cheatdevice still work from the special iflasher that allows it to run from the xmb on 2.71 SE-B3 without the use of devhook? plz reply soon. cheers matt

this is great...and i'm very excited at playing ps1 games on my psp... i am even willing to give up some of my legally backed up iso's to have some space free...the only problem is that i'm affraid to brick my psp...solution:devhook...but will this run on 0.51.01?probably not... and how woul'd you get all the firmware files... if there's not a real update...i'm so sad...if only one would' upgrade my psp to this for me there's just one thing i don't understand... i downgraded from 2.71 to 1.50 ...why am i so affraid for this one

I upgraded the firmware on my friends PSP to 3.02 OE-B Was scared at first finding i had upgraded the firmware from 1.50 to 3.02 but was kind of cool to be able to load the PSX folder of a game in the PSP?GAME folder and play it from the mem stick. Found out could still load ISOs in the ISOs folder and play directly from mem stick aswell without loading Devhook .52 Have a problem with Raw vs Smackdown . Frose but asways had a problem with it. Virtua Tennis, Battle Zone, all worked.
