We've just barely recovered from the awesome news about the new 2.80 downgrader from 0okm, now we're stumped with another make-you-type-like-your-granny-cause-you're-trembling-in-excitement kind of update - developer csfreakno1 has just concocted his own version of Easy Downgrader for 2.80.
Alright. Now that we're cleared with that, we're pausing for a little, ok, a huge disclaimer. First, we're putting up this post not to encourage 2.80 PSP owners to immediately use it, but because we want to inform the community that things are moving in the right direction and it should be only a matter of time before we have in our hands a fully stable downdater app. So for those guys who already have their PSP and USB cables on hand, it might be wise to sit and wait for now.
Second, this one came out a little late cause we here at the QJ labs all had to do some rethinking if it's safe to release to the public so soon. As you might have known by now (duh!), we've decided to share this with you guys to show that we trust your own judgment over its safety.
Now we got that cleared, let's get on with the unveiling of the great news. csfreakno1, despite the poor web translation, explains it best in saying:
Hello, has I mean first EASY Downgrader young here about 2.80. I have already enough experience with Downgrader, but this is also new for me. This is all first version and can still errors contain. A detailed README file is contained. IMPORTANTLY This Downgrader writes on the Flash0. Use on own danger! First RELEASE, REQUEST WATCHING OUT! After the installation of the Datein on the PSP, only the PSP start again then the Downgrader a starting!
As mentioned above, this app is in its very early and unstable stage. The results are as unpredictable as Sony's marketing schemes, so again, it's best that you read, reread, and reread the readme file some more that comes along with the download. Right now, the main concerns are: THE PSP MUST NOT HAVE A TA-082 BOARD and the owner must use the recently released xloader instead of the earlier eLoader. Cause if not, you would end up having one useless piece of gaming device. The full instructions are:
1) Format memstick with a 2.8 NON TA-082 PSP.
2) Connect PSP via USB and run easy installer.
3) Select PSP drive in the easy installer and let it install the files.
4) Turn off your PSP.
5) Turn on your PSP and goto PHOTO -> Memory stick -> xLoader 280
6) You should see two icons in the xLoader 280 folder. If xLoader loads correctly then nothing should happen. If it fails then MS will blink and then PSP will crash.
7) Once xLoader is run successfully, goto GAME -> MEMORY STICK and run the downgrader.
8) You should see the DG menu.
9) Pray to God and cross your fingers.
10) Hit O to start DG.
11) Wait for it to say "Finished. PowerOff to exit"
12) Hold Power switch up until psp is completely off.
13) Pray again.
14) Turn on PSP, you should now get a Blue Screen Of Death so press O to reset settings.
Pretty simple huh? Still, it wouldn't hurt to be really careful. If you're one brave dude who either a) Loves your PSP so much you just can't bear having it wearing such a dirty firmware or b) just a daredevil who tries risks "just cause", we wish you luck. Make sure you don't miss any of the steps above (especially number 9 and 13), and heed this warning from csfreakno1 himself.
I STILL RECOMEND AGAINST USING THIS ... YOU SHOULD JUST WAIT FOR A FOOL PROOF DOWNGRADER... I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILTY IF THIS GOES WRONG

0.2 is now out!
I tried this earlier this afternoon and it does work! I now have a fully functional 1.50 fw psp!
My psp wasn't a TA-082 (Thank god!) and i followed the instructions as instructed above.
Good Luck, but if your doubtful, wait for the fullproof release.
2.80ers i recommend you to wait until a further and more stable downgrader comes out...

Downgraded with this and it went very smoothly! You have to be absolutely sure NOT to use eloader. It should have been taken out of the easy downgrader to make it even safer but, just be sure to use xloader guys.
so it seams that this downgrader is bricking psp's right so basically everthing thats related to downgraders for firmware 2.8 is bricking so im just going to wait for somebody releases a safe downgrader

hi i downloaded the easy downgrader ran the exe selected drive h and clicked install.
I've downgraded from 2.80 using this, I can confirm that it works.
I don't know german either, I followed this guide:

It's easy enough.
DON'T USE eLOADER.
A 3 year old could follow this through, as it is that easy.
After clicking install and having them put in the psp, go to xloader, use it (as in do slideshow, show error, etc.), and then use the downgrader. Careful though since this is only for TA-081 - TA-079.
Does it matter?, downdater is the proper term, probably.

I dont have a 2.80, but i'm glad people are getting a chance to downgrade and enjoy homebrew now. I wish immature kids wouldn't "joke" around and deter people from working software. Sure there are risks involved, but you don't have to lie. Grow up or get out.
you should format your MS and restore settings to default. there has been bricks for PSPs set to other languages.

Freaking gash dummit!!! I mean, good progress but hello? Us TA-082'ers are still STUCK! Well, maybe we'll see something for TA-082 in the near future I hope, since it has only been like 3 days while these downgraders have been being released for the sad majority of lucky non-TA-082'ers. I hate myself for not sticking with FW 2.71 and HEN-D, but sadly I didn't know of HEN-D's full capabilities till after I upgraded lol. TA-082'ers, we must band together and pray for a miracle.

I tried the german easy downgrader and it works flawlessly, now Im on my 1.5, however I cannot upgrade to 3.02oe because I only have a 32mb stick, but Im extremely happy with devhook, that will do until I get my hands on one of those nasty 4gb ms.
just finished my psp 2.8 downgrade to fw version 1.5 and I'm happy and excited. I've been waiting for the program over 5 months ever since I upgraded, but thanks to 0okm, noobz, C+D and many others I now am a happy owner of a 1.5 PSP. 3.02 OE, here I come!!!
I actually found this earlier and used it yesterday. Worked PERFECTLY for me. But I stress you triple read (or more) the instructions and follow them E-X-A-C-T-L-Y. Down to the memory card formating. And I think there's a video tutorial with this on another site.

I got to 3.02 OE-A yesterday, from 2.80. I am a little more than ecstatic! The easy downgrader works like a charm, as long as you format your memory stick first.

Old discussion, you're not fantastically smart, 'meeh'. It's because you get more functionality from 1.5, so it's not downGRADING (upgrading, if anything). 'Downdater' was decided as it reverts to an older version.
this is some bull i found this NEWWWWWWWSss yesterday @ 10:00am eastern and i tried and it worked for me but make sure u have that 1.50.ipl.bin file and ohh and replace that eboot thing for the one that Ookm has on his site and also Download that downdate thing form psp-hacks and replace the downdate thing and then downgrade it worked for me so wooo im happy
ya it works, i did it so easy, i got fw 3.02 oe-a now, and dev hook, still haven't tried dev hook yet cuz after i got oe-a i went to bed
You can use the 32 MB stick, the install only uses about 18 MB. Think it is a bug in the installation...
i just dowgraded my psp woohoo . i used the dowgrader on psp hacks . it works if anyone is asking. just take your time and read all the instructions.
this one does work......in just about three minutes the downdater does what it was designed to do.....hurray for 2.80ers.....

its true i just tested the easy downgrader version 0.2 on three different psp's and no brick!
i also updated one of those psp back to 2.80 then executed the downgrader again just to be sure it works and NO BRICK

DONT LISTEN TO HIM... I downgraded my psp when the 2.50 downgrader came out, in the very first hours of the release, with still in BETA version and no problem at all... downgrades as you wish when ever you want.. no need to wait.. just read carefully the forums, ask questions, make sure you know what to do.. but no need to wait for a more stable version.. enjoy and welcome into the 1.50 world.

The install may only take up 18 MB, but to generate it you have to be able to fit the EBOOTS of both 3.02 and 1.5, which you can't do on a 32 MB stick
No, it simply will not, it is meant for 2.80 and 2.80 FWs alone, nothing more and nothing less. (You must also have TA-079 - TA-081 with the FW 2.80 if you wish to downgrade said FW.
this thing actually worked! i got so scared because when i turned it on after downgrade nothing came up...but then i tried to start it again and it worked! i am now a 3.02 SE-A. i am so happy!!!
1.0 -> 1.5 -> 2.0 ->1.5 -> 2.01 -> 2.5 -> 2.6 -> 2.71 -> 2.8 -> 1.5 -> 3.02 SE-A

Not only was this checked multiple times, but it was used multiple times on different psps, so no it's not exactly foul play. And even so, be happy that the 2.80 people have something to look forward to, especially since the downdater from csfreakno1 was already present even before your post was actually posted.(I kinda hung around the psp-hack and qj for a while so I can act as witness.)

u can avoid having to upgrade and still play MGS PO. Use a game which doesn't require 2.81 or higher then swap MGS in like in the video.

i just downgraded mine... it really dose work there has been success on psu as well, well over 30 with no problem, 2 said they bricked but they probably did something wrong. there were probably more successful people who said nothing though.

I used this yesterday, no brick no nothing. I think the downgrader is stable enough from my experience, I cant say about others. I used this installer as well as the 3.02 custom firmware and I'm happy.

2.80 down to 1.5;
Turned off psp wallpaper, formatted memory stick
reset psp to factory settings, all user info wiped.
Hooked psp to pc, put in usb mode
Ran the easy install and chose the psp as the
target drive for the easy-installer
hard-shutoff the psp
turned back on, went to photo, xloader, opened the xloader folder waited 2 seconds, then 'x' on xloader
out of photo, over to game, down to downgrader and 'x'
then chose 'o' at the downgrader menu, took about 4 min
then told me to switch off.
IT TOOK ABOUT TWICE AS LONG to switch off...don't let go the button until it ACTUALLY TURNS OFF!!!!!!
Back on, bluescreen! Woot! Golden.....

until now I thought, that I had a TA 082 mb. Because of rumors which say, that if on the left side is written IC 1006, it is possible that the mb ist not TA 082, even if on the right there is still IC 1003.
Also I heard, that 0okm released a tool to test, if you have a TA 082 mb.
Now my question:
Where can I find that Tool? I searched over an hour, but I couldn't find anything.
Please help me.

I don't think it is possible to downgrade TA082 simply impossible because they werent built for v1.50
i wonder if they can make a downdater to 2.71 so us ta-082's can at least run devhook...
am i the only one that cant see what version or whatever my psp motherboard is? i opened the umd drive, but theres only a number on the left side, not the right.
That means that you do NOT have a TA 082 mb.

I've always seen in guides and such that gold letters on the right side of the green circuit board visible behind the UMD drive was evidence of a TA-082 board. My PSP doesn't have gold letters anywhere on the visible green circuit board behind the UMD drive, so I guess I am perfectly fine using this downdater.
When you higher your firmware you upgrade it but when there is a new firmware ready it is a update. There for there is now a downdate ready and if you use it you have downgraded. God i know this is boring.
Because firmware dumps are HIGHLY illegal! Try another site EHEM'psp-hacks'EHEM!!!!

Well, I downgraded to 1.5 and installed 3.02 OE using my original 32 MB stick. Freshly formatted. Or did my capacity magically increase without me knowing it?

Forgot to mention, I used Chaos Zero Easy Install which contains everything - no need for eboots.
I used the easy downdater 0.2 and it works!
I will not lie but my heart was beating like crazy when I did it but it worked! Time to install devhook :)...I'd do 3.02OEA but I'm scared to use it...I feel more comfortable with devhook anyway.

I think any files like that just take the updater files and dump them when you start up the program and never really include the dumped files when you download

Since the problem seems that TA-082 PSP's can't run firmware below 2.50, I'd be happy if someone would make a downgrader to downgrade from 2.80 to 2.71 on TA-082 PSP's so I can go back to HEN-D. Please... one of the amazing Devs please take up this task and surprise us. We will be very happy.

I think you wount have any problems with it, since you cant do anything wrong, can you`? well you have to start the Xloader, not the Eloader...with the Eloader, your psp will brick(I heard)!!!

I have used this and my friend told me to update to 2.0 and "clean downdate" to 1.50. i have updated to 2.0 and symantec destroys the mph downdater tiff file because of "Trojan.PSPBrick" can anyone tell me how to get to a clean 1.50 again.

I used this downgrader on my 2.8 non ta-082 this morning and it successfully downgraded it to 2.5. I'm happy because its christmas today and I got it downgraded right in time. If you read directions carefully it will work!!!!!

i was wondering...how do i know if my xloader is running? becuz the version that i downloaded was teh 2.8 xloader and eloader...i was wondering if their was a significant difference between the two?
I tried using ZipGenius and Windows Compressed Folder, but both say the file is corrupt. I tried using ExtractNow, but the extracted files do not appear, even though it says the files have been extracted. Am I using the wrong unzip program?

u bricked ur psp when u turn it on is the green light on and nothing happens if its that u definetly bricked ur psp and there aint $hit u can do to fix it

i got a game at xmas and upgraded 2.81 i was a good boy and had waitd sooo long for a downgrader then as sooon as i do.....bam dwngrdr! i wish i had waited a little longer coz i dont see 2.81+ getting sorted any time soon. this 1 only works because of tiff exploit. :-(

So i reluctantly powered it off and tried the entire process from running xLoader again.
This time it worked.
