2.71 Downdater/Downgrader Made Easy |

Just as he did for the 2.50/2.60 Downdater made by Dark_Alex, Mathieulh and Yoshihiro from the SonyXTeam, Xtrusion is once again lifting the weight off our shoulders by eliminating the need to go through all the steps and instructions needed to make a successful downgrade with Downgrader 2.71 LITE.
It basically functions the same as his previous release. It's an executable with an amazing GUI, with a series of images guiding you through the set up process of the 2.71 Downdater. All you have to do is install the file just as you would any computer program, run it, connect your PSP to your computer and answer the questions with either a yes or a no.
Remember, that this is potentially dangerous to your PSP. You could end up having a bricked PSP. We can't stress that enough and so does Xtrusion. Don't say we didn't warn you.
This software is free, unlicensed and comes with no warranty.
Despite it has been tested and it has worked, a program that rewrites a big part of the flash(flash0) is always dangerous. You are the only responsible of whatever happens to your psp using this unlicensed program.

Some commenters keep insisting that this works on the 2.80. Some commenters keep insisting that it will brick your 2.80 if you try it. A word of sanity: until the developer says that it works on 2.80, it's probably a bad idea to try it on a 2.80. - How do I turn off comments by unregistered users?
FYI for Registered users: some of you have complained about all the spam (we're dealing with the worst of it but the comments are coming in faster than we can handle right now). Its really good of you to take even more time out to do more great work for the PSP Scene.I have the 2.50>60 downgrader in full to & ive downgraded around 30+ psps with it works a treat so this one will be no diffrent,[IMO].

I first installed the previous one this morning with the earlier 2.71 downdater , and now that i got 1.5 i installed this version for Fw1.5, after the prog was done, i deleted everything : The downhelper + downhelper% and the 1.5 Eboot in the UPGRADE File, is this ok ? Plz REPLY ! THX

#17, the 2.80 has no kernal access, so you wont be able to downgrade at all since it cant write to the flash. DURR read in the forums.

#34, open up your umd drive, and look on the top right corner, if there is no golden numbers, then that means your in the clear for a downgrade.
can you please tell us when you are gonna make an eloader for 2.8 gosh weve all been waiting for so long and this libtiff will do some damage and you aint shining? wheres the 2.8 stuff wheres all the downgraders like you promised come on get in schedule sony's wasting you!

You use downdater helper on a 1.5 psp to get some files you put on a 2.71 psp. This files you get are illegal to send since sony made them. But it dont mean its imposseble to find them out there in the world wide web. Sorry but I cant give you the links. Qj will not allow that. Sony will sue them if I did. :(

To all the 2.8 users complaining that they don't have a downgrader, think of it like this. Your PSP didn't have 2.8 on it when you purchased it, so either you upgraded it, or Sony upgraded it for you when it was sent in for repairs. Either way, it's your own fault that you have a 2.80.
Is this the final downgrader or are there more that are supposed to come out. Because I want to wait till its as safe as possible the success rate according to the polls is only like 75%

The EBOOT is not for 2.80, and the design for it is for 2.71. your psp will brick don't try it. The 2.80 version will come out shortly, please show some patients.

The PSP may not brick, the software is designed for 2.71 so it's not smart to try. As said in the previous post it may not brick but please dont try until new version for 2.80 comes out, and also try to wait until the bugs in it that it may have get fixed. sorry.

I just want to thank a bunch of people, including the designers...before this came out, I had one person help me immensly and was actually working on a utube video on how to do it, but considering this, I didnt even continue. Proud owner of 1.5. Now, if someone can steer me toward the 2.71 emulator by devhook, I would be peeing my pants!

I downgraded from 2.71 to 1.5!
I formatted my 4gb memory stick and ran easy Downgrader2.71FULL.exe, manually double-checked all the files went to the right place, and it worked! I had to turn my PSP on and off 4 times before I got the red screen, but it worked great!!

i had 1.5 and upgraded to 2.71 for downloading online videos , i use to have over 80 iso games i deleted them all cuz they didnt work online h2.80 and i want to get back into iso community now there is better programs so all u F$%#ing 2.80 users wait if u dont want to wait go upgrade lol and wait couple years again so u have 2 CHOICES wait a bit and get back into the iso/homebrew community or be a dumbass and upgrade again im waiting anyways i can wait for months cuz i got 10 games NOT iso i do buy games still cuz i belive in keeping psp alive, if everyone keeps downloading no companys want to make games for psp

Yeah guys, I also have a 2.80, it it sits there and the Mem stick light flashes, but it ultimately just crashes....so its a no go for 2.80

I DOesnt BRICK 2.8 psp s it just crashes
Well heres the deal. I tried to original downdater for 2.71 1st released and got a brick, the green light comes on but screen remains pitch black.
WELL I LEFT IT ON ALL NIGHT LAST NIGHT, AND THIS MORNING I TRIED TO TURN IT OFF, AND A BLUE SCREEN CAME UP SAYING SOMETHING ABOUT HARLEY 1.234 SOMETHING LIKE THAT, AND IT HAD OPTIONS SUCH AS RETURN TO 1.5 AND 2.0 UMD LOADER AND USB DEVICE.
THIS DIDNT MAKE ANY SENSE TO ME SO I CHOSE RETURN TO 1.5 AND MY PSP IS STILL PITCH BLACK. THE THING IS THOUGH I WANT SOMEONE TO TELL ME WHAT THE BLUE SCREEN IS AND CAN IT UNBRICK MY PSP OR SOMETHING

heres it straight, personally i havent tried downgrading on my 2.8 psp, but in theory, it wont work (no access to flash0) but it cant brick (no access to flash0), (btw flash0 45 all u noobz is the place in the psp where all the essential files are stored) and don't be nasty 2 the people who upgraded I 4 1 didn't think there would be 1 and i think people thought the same.

I've been reading through the forum on guys who are blaming developers about not being able to downgrade from 2.80 firmware. I think you should all shut up and just sit tight for a few days and somethins bound to come up. I mean for god sake, if the developers who brought us previous downgrade packages never started in the first place, we'd all be goosed! We should be thanking them for even doing this at all. I have a 2.80 myself and i'm just gonna sit tight and keep a watch until they find a way.

when 2.6 came out, people said do not upgrade. they upgraded. when 2.7 and 2.71 came out, they said do not upgrade. they upgraded, and than the 2.6 downdater came out, and the 2.7ers were pissed. deja vu. 2.8 comes out, they upgrade. 2.7 downdater, 2.8ers are pissed.

For those unable to get the red screen to come up, just keep restarting. It took me over 20 restarts, but eventually it did work.

i looked at the photo and it said that if there are numbers at the right of ur psp inside the disk thingy then its ta-082
mine doesn't, but it has numbers at the left that u can partially see......is it ta-082 or not???

the less ***** is in on memorystick and in the psp, the less ***** can go wrong..

I got a 2.01 PSP and can't find the 1.5 files (or a 2.6 firmware for that matter).
2,80 only uses User Mode which is unisigned kernal code so we 2.80 users kinda have a chance to play games homebrew but not all of them like i remember that 2.60 had User mODE aND you could play some stuff so im happy And ppl please dont upgrade no more cause ur going to be whining later So User Mode is a start =D sooner or later we will have kerna mode EX there is a Snes Emulator out there that Uses User Mode

I did it with the full version and it works great. At the first try, I just deleted my pics in the photo archive bevor installing the downgrader. Just follow the instructions... have fun!

Followed everything as it told me, got a red screen on my very first try. Shame it didn't do anything. I was still 2.71. Then I tried and tried again, failing to get a red screen. I think my problem was I wasn't hitting X fast enough when I got to photos. Those of you not getting a red screen try to hit X faster.
had a 2.7 upgraded to 2.71 then downgraded to 1.5 using Downgrader made easy Full version. Waited til now to do it, reading up on forums to see what worked worked and what didnt. I formatted my 32mb stick, reset the psp back to default settings, removed the battery for 10 seconds and replaced it (probably didnt help anything but did it anyways), turned on the psp and connected the usb to the pc, ran the .exe file and it uploaded all the files i needed including the 1.5 dump, disconnected the usb, went to photo and clicked on the tiff file.
1st try i didnt click on the tiff file fast enuff, psp froze then shut off by itself
2nd try i went to photo and clicked on the tiff right away and got the red screen for 1 1/2 minutes and it restarted.
now i got a 1.5

guys, hello, does anyone remember the mph downgrader? it had a 0 bricking % if the instructions were followed correctly. why can't we just use a similar method to downgrade 2.71 psps? all it did was change the number of the firmare to 1.0 so that the 1.5 eboot would start. just a thought, please reply

Ok i know how it feels to be so frustrated about having a psp 2.71 but we will have to wait we can't just run into the future.
And i think i know another cause for bricking... not sure though...
I think the other cause of bricking is when someone buys a psp new with 2.71 and when they try to downgrade it bricks so i'm thinking everyone who bought a psp in the first month of them selling could downgrade easy... no brick.
Anyways onto the point, a downgrader for 2.8 could take another month or more.
This is simply because the 2.8 doesn't have kernel access.
Hopefully the tiff exploit could lead you to have kernel access... but as far as we know there might not ever be a 2.8 downgrader just an eLoader...
So everyone including me who has a 2.8 psp just wait.
and could i ask everyone who succesfully downgraded to say whether they bought their psp as soon as they came out near enough or did you buy them new?
Also get prepared if there is a 2.8 downgrader because again you will need the 1.50 DOWNDATER files...
I have them already on my 32mb memory stick (not goin to waste my 512mb) so really if i had a 2.71 psp in front of me i could downgrade it.
If you want the full files go to psp-hacks.net and ask on live chat "Where can i get the downdater files" or look around. Do not download the 1.5 Dump. It won't work. You will get all the files needed in the "2.71 Downgrader Full". All you need to do is select your psp drive letter and it installs all the files including the tiff pic. It installs the full downdater file and the .bin file in the root of your psp.
So listen every 2.8 psp owner, just wait. i'm sure after the eLoader comes out they will get straight on to 2.8's back and rip the security to peices.

I have tested this myself and it works.
All you do is pick your psp drive letter and it will install the FULL "DOWNDATER" file and the .bin file which goes in the root and it even includes the picture you need.
Tried and Tested Check it out.

I had a lot of trouble with this but here is an example on how persistance makes all the difference.
Before I get started let me answer a few things for the earlier questions.
1) This isn't a 2.8->1.5 downgrader. This is a 2.71->1.5 downgrader. L2READ-K-THNX
2) If you have a number on the LEFT side of your PSP while looking at it right side up and looking at the back of your PSP, your PSP is fine to downgrade. IE - If your PSP circuit board doesn't look like the one in the warning, YOU ARE FINE. Clear enough? Okay.
This light version of the downgrader is called that because it does not contain the 1.5 files required to downgrade. If you do not have these files, like I didn't go to http://psp.xtrusion.es/en/ to get them. If you don't know where they go and you're scared you're going to ***** everything up, don't worry. There's a version of this downgrader in full. Click the "I've got 2.71 version." link and TADA a full version of this.
Now this is what I did. I took my 32 meg card and reformatted it. Then I used the FULL version install. It didn't work. Then with the 1.5 files installed from the full version I tried the lite version. It kept crashing. SO! I took the file called "HW" from the photo folder. I put in some pictures. Then I put the "HW" file back into the folder. Then I tried the full version AGAIN! Then when I went to the photo folder I had to scroll down to view the file. It went red and did its thing.
If it doesn't work, just keep trying.

2.80 isnt downgradable, because u cant access kernal mode. as soon as kernal mode was cracked on 2.5/6/7 there was a downgrader but there was no exploit in 2.71 so there was no way to strt a downgrader, but with the new tiff exploit it was possible. however in 2.80 sony patched up the kernal mode exploit so its next to impossible to downgrade now
I've tried over 40 times and it still won't work, i've gotten the red screen about 6 out of the 40 times and everytime it crashed. I am using the LITE version, i followed all the instructions exactly. What am I doing wrong?
The LITE version doesnt include the 1.50 dumper files. You need to get those files somewhere or use the FULL version instead.
I had all the files but it didn't work after 40+ tries. Then I downloaded the full version it didn't work the first 5 or so times and then the 6th (the second time i got the red screen) it worked. i am ecstatic! i can't believe it worked now i can't wait to get homebrew and iso's going. For the people that made this (DarkAlex, etc.) You people are GENIUSES, keep up the AMAZING work.
I used this program and MY OWN clean firmware dump to downgrade my brother's 2.71 PSP.
OMFG!!!!!!! i just downloaded the mario theme and used it now it keeps sending the courrupt error mesage every 1 seconds........ i cant boot a game off the UMD and cant access the memory card at all it just keeps booting the error blue screen. only time it works is if its turned off. can anyone help me in fixing this?

Right....i bricked my first PSP - i did this....
Mobo was is not TA 82
Used a 2GB card (fully formated)
Used the 19.5mb files from PSP hax
Copied the files and directory structure as shown
Screen went red first time, then black and died.
Are the 13.5mb downdata files the correct ones OR can i just use this liteloader (IE does it include the 1.50 downdata files required for a 2.71 downgrade?)

OK can confirm, I was desperate to rid myself of the 2.8 and tried this...did exactly as told...
And basically the system hang for a few moments then just turned off.....
Restarted fine with the usual sony loading screen etc...but still at 2.8 firmware...

I'm a little worried about this working on my PSP, since it was originally a v1.00 PSP-1000 model.
I had trouble finding a v2.71 update before, so I could downgrade my v2.60 PSP back to v1.50.

really really REALLY impressed guys. i found the full version downgrader, it took about ten tries (got scared sometimes cuz the screen froze while the memory card was blinking), but then i got the red screen and it was smooth sailing. i'm amazed and i reccommend this wholeheartedly to everyone.
i had a 2.0 PSP, upped to 2.6 (stupid stupid me), upped to 2.71 (search for the file on psp vault if you need the upgrade), and boom i'm all good.
only thing is now, i got a GTA game that's unpatched that i no longer need anymore (heh heh). maybe i'll put more time into actually playing the game itself now...

I have a white Japanese PSP that had 2.70 on it to begin with. I was super nervous about bricking my PSP but the forums I read seemed to have limitted "I got bricked comments" many of them I suspect are fake and planted by SONY...anyway
I upgraded to 2.71 and then downloaded
Downgrader2.71FULL.exe
I reformated a 128MB Memory stick turned off the wifi switch (I read that on someones's comment) and ran the exe. It was SUPER easy...much easier than I suspected.
I loaded the file onto the PSP as instructed and then opened photos to get the RED screen. That lasted about 30 seconds or so with some intermittent memory stick light flashing. When it was done the PSP powered off.
Just to be safe I removed the power cable and the battery and counted to 10 and then powered on. It started up in the corrupt screen as the instructions said and after pressing O it rebooted in 1.5 AOK.
For all those noobs that are worried I say go for it. It's very easy and very step by step...you don't need anything other than Downgrader2.71FULL.exe and a memory stick.

IT WORKED =D, I did what the other guy told me and used the original 32 MB stick that came with it. I'm not sure if it affected the results or not but when it worked I had removed the UMD disc that was in it. PRETTY SCARY, I ran away from it afraid that I would bump it and interrupt the downgrade....I'm goign to get DEVHOOKED NOW =D....da bomb.

I Had version 2.60 but couldnt find any good downgraders so I upgraded to 2.71 and tried with the full version but when I go into the photo section described, the memory light blinks but the screen does not turn RED and after a while it says that it cant open the image. And when its done and so the corrupt message does not turn up.
